Chapter 7 - 07 - EVENTS AFTER THE INCURSION

"Felicity, we're leaving" Udara ordered finally when she calmly walked passed us, knowing full-well that we couldn't hurt her now.

"What? Oh you've got to be fucking kidding me! Where's the Dincliptien eb Paxalaxadiso?!" Felicity demanded to know after she chased Udara only to realise that she heard herself say the most inaudible gibberish that I have ever heard and it seems that Felicity thought the same. "And stop using your goddamn magic on me!!"

Tempest and I stepped aside when they walked passed us and like them, their followers finally moved and slowly trailed behind them. I didn't know much about their "little" group at the time but the in front of these two women, none of their followers have said a single word. These two powerful aether-practitioners were the leaders of the herd and the only ones allowed to speak but if they conceal their faces, something tells me that Felicity wasn't even that woman's real name.

"Hey! Don't run away from me!" Felicity demanded off into the distance when they all casually left. How they were going to escape was beyond me and to be honest, following them right now would only put our lives in danger and I was a little worried. Tempest and Erin felt the same way which is why we all stayed behind and glanced at each other.

"So uhhh .... do we chase after them?" Erin broke the ice and awkwardly asked so as not to sound scared.

"That sounds like a very good idea but you see uhh ... I have a really important class to get to and umm" I tried to excuse myself and Erin joyfully agreed, nodding her head along with me and muttering in between my lines.

"Tempest? Should we go back? How about we.." Erin wondered before I hurriedly tapped her on the arm when I noticed something incredibly worrying which could explain why Tempest's been so quiet. When Erin turned her attention to me, I pointed at Tempests legs which were not only scraped up severely but were covered in bruises blushed with blue and purple, hidden behind permafrost that were covering up all of her severe wounds to stop the bleeding. "uhh .. T-Tempest?" Erin called out to her.

Tempest then sighed before she turned back to us and realised that we were staring at her bruised legs.

"Are you okay?" I asked her out of worry but Tempest then glanced down at her legs.

"Oh yeah umm ... I think my legs were..." Before Tempest could finish her sentence, she slowly collapsed onto the floor in front of us which terrified us both. What I hated to realise that day was that Tempest's legs were painstakingly wounded to the point where she needed to cover it in permafrost to stop the bleeding. I just wished that we realised how severe her injuries actually were that day because, the three of us can be very immature about serious situations.

A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER...

INSIDE THE SCHOOL INFIRMARY, THE ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING

Tempest, Erin and I both laughed at the top of our longs after the really offensive joke Tempest told us that morning. She remained seated in her hospital bed and literally laughed so hard that she nearly felt something below the waist. Okay, that may have been too exaggerated because despite her being a paraplegic, it was only temporary what with medical technology being at its peak in this era.

From what I remember, the joke went like this: An argument happens in a bar. There are two demife in a bar. One of them happens to be a paraplegic in a wheelchair. An argument begins between the two demife and gets heated and one woman punches the other woman in the wheelchair knocking her down. The woman who was in the wheelchair looks up at the women who knocked her down and responds.

"You May have won this one but when we meet in heaven I'll get you back"

The other woman replies:

"That won't happen for 2 reasons.

1, I just hit a cripple in a bar I'm not going to heaven.

2, there's a stairway to heaven not a ramp."

Now I know that sounds offensive to all paraplegics and even though we lived in an era inhabited by a majority of which were all what we'd call "snowflakes". It might be considered offensive to them, yes but here's the thing, I don't care. If women out there want to be offended for other people, they can do that, I don't care but don't force your irritating worries on me otherwise I might be inclined to smack the shit out of you and trust me, I have and I'm proud to have done it. Some people just deserve a good beating sometimes and I'm not saying you should get out there and harm people that angered you, you wouldn't want assault charges in this expensive day and age. Anyway, we pride ourselves on being able to not only make offensive jokes but also understand and take them simply because it's our friendship dynamic. Tempest and I fight all the time and sometimes, we throw punches but when it all comes down to it, we're friends and it'll be alright an hour later. That's why she doesn't care if Erin and I make fun of her for being a paraplegic.

"Wait wait wait, I have one two" Erin stated when she tried to stop us. "Alright. What's the worst thing a woman could do to a paraplegic on their first date?"

"Stand her up?" Tempest answered her which instantly left Erin waiting in silence with that smile on her face that screamed "Shit!!!". "Well ... I guess that joke may have been too easy but I have another one. The paraplegic shared her.."

"They can't wok!" Tempest answered her again with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Oh come on! I didn't even get to finish the question!"

"I'm sorry Erin but I'm just too great at jokes. I'm ridiculously smart" Tempest explained herself confidently.

"That's just ridiculous. I bet you just stayed up all night, reading stupid jokes on the internet so that you'll look smart" I pointed it out but despite that being the truth, and yes, I'm sure it was, Tempest wasn't giving in.

"Pfft. Alright smart girl, tell me a joke. No, tell me .. a riddle. Anything and to make it better, I'll give you the answer in ten seconds" She suggested.

"Alright. I already have one. A woman shoots her wife, then holds her underwater for five minutes. Next, she hangs her. Right after, they enjoy a lovely dinner. Explain."

"She took a picture of her and developed it in her darkroom" Tempest immediately answered without even thinking of an answer.

"Alright, fine, I'll give you that. How can the number four be half of five?" I asked her, expecting an even greater answer since Tempest sucks at math.

"IV, the archaic numeral for four, which is half of the word five" Tempest immediately answered, once again, not even thinking about the answer.

"Alright, t-that was too easy. A is the sister of B. B is the sister of C. C is the mother of D. So how is D related to A?"

"Easy. A is D's aunt!" Tempest answered just as fast.

"Dammit! Alright, next one. You see a boat filled with people. It has not sunk, but when you look again you don't see a single person on the boat. Why?" I asked again since it took me two hours to figure this one out when I heard it.

"All of the people were married" Tempest answered with an arrogant smirk on her stupid face.

"You daughter of a bitch!!" I cursed out of frustration before turning around and thinking of another really difficult riddle that took me a while to figure out. Erin then looked at us both with mild confusion before remembering something as well.

"Ooo ooo oo oo oo! I have one!" Erin exclaimed and lifted her hand.

"Go ahead. Maybe you can give me more of a challenge" Tempest remarked with an annoying grin on her face, directed at me.

"No, wait a minute. Shut the fuck up Erin, I got this" I stopped her and walked back to Tempests hospital bed. "Alright new one! What are the next three letters in this combination? OTTFFSS"

Tempest then looked up in thought with genuine confusion for a couple of seconds which was just what I needed. That look of deep thought is what I needed to point out how stupid Tempest actually is because I refuse to believe that she has the answer to every single riddle and joke out there.

"Wow ... Madison, I'd hate to admit it but .. I think you've got me" Tempest stated in reflection, a tone of great disappointment in herself.

"I'm stumped"

"Yes!!! I knew it!! You don't know the answer to every..." Before I could finish my sentence, Tempest stopped me and sat up. "Ha!! Jokes on you! The answer is E N T"

"What?!! How the fuck could you possibly know?! You suck at math!"

"Do I Madison? .... Do I?" She asked me again.

"Wait why is it E N T? I don't get it" Erin asked us out of curiosity.

"The letters represent the first letter in the written numbers: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten" Tempest nonchalantly explained which somehow blew Erins freaking mind. Sarah, I could understand but I thought Erin was smarter than that.

"No freaking way!! How did you figure that out so fast?" Erin demanded to know.

"No! I call bullshit! Don't believe a word she says Erin. She's a liar and a paraplegic and she'll never walk again!" I exclaimed in frustration.

"You didn't know the answer to it didn't you?" Tempest asked me calmly with a smile on her face.

"I ... I umm, I knew the answer. Yeah, totally. It was E N T, I knew that"

"Ha! Hehehahahah!! You're a complete idiot!!" Tempest exclaimed in between her hilarious laughter while slapping her leg. Out of anger, I then grabbed the fork off of her plate and stabbed it into her leg which quickly stopped her laughing. "Hey! That would've hurt if I could feel anything!"

"So you're really paralysed from the waist down?" Erin wondered out of curiosity and pulled the fork from her leg.

"No Erin. When the doctors told me that I was paralysed from the waist down, they were just pulling my leg" Tempest answered her with a straight face.

"Are you being sarcastic again? Maddy, she's being sarcastic right?"

"No Erin. Her tone is just snide because the doctors were pulling her leg" I said sarcastically but I guess I should've expected her not to understand it.

"What does snide mean?"

"So hey, shouldn't you both be in class right now?" Tempest asked us after she had a look at the time on her phone.

"No. It's an independent study period so we just don't feel like studying" I answered her instead because I knew what Erin would say.

"I thought you were too embarrassed to hear about all of the graffiti because you were the one that did it" Erin asked me.

"Would you shut your goddamn mouth" I demanded when I covered her mouth and lowered my voice since that was probably too loud. I then had a look around to make sure nobody was listening in. "Do you want everyone outside to hear?"

"Why don't you want other people to know? That painting of Tiriara was really amazing. You should sign up for the painting course" Erin suggested which made Tempest burst out in laughter.

"What's so funny?" I asked her.

"You? The painting course was created for those that can actually paint. Your paintings make cats want to chase their tail"

"That's amazing! I've never seen that before. God, I want a cat. Are we allowed to have cats in our dormitories?" Erin asked us with a hopeful smile of excitement on her face. If only she knew that pets weren't permitted.

"So anyway. What's everyone saying about the B and E? They don't think we're linked to that do they?" Tempest asked us since she hasn't been in class for the past five days now.

"No. Erin and I ... I managed to convince everyone in class that you were injured by one of the masked women. I couldn't really convince them how we were in two places at once so they know that we were lying on our first day here. Alyssa and Sarah don't seem to care but Whisper doesn't like being lied to so she's pretty pissed" I explained while thinking about what Whisper said to us that day.

FIVE DAYS EARLIER...

AFTER THE SCHOOL INCURSION

After that terrifying experience, students were generally concerned for their safety since these intruders were somehow capable of breaking into one of the most secured places in the world. Majority of the first years were worried sick about having been trapped in a semblance so easily without even realising it and this created a chain of gossip about the disciplinary committee who were supposed to be protecting the school as it's security force. Scarlet has had a lot of work on her plate and I'm genuinely worried about her but she's a hard working student.

Majority of the third years figured out that they were inside the semblance but like Scarlet, they knew that there was nothing they could've done since there is absolutely no way of breaking out of it unless the caster loses concentration. What students can't seem to understand is that NOTHING is completely secure and even though this prestigious academy bolsters one of the highest academic grades in history and always produces talented alumni in various arts but it's also a military academy with some of the most talented knights in training. Of course disasters like this could happen, it was just a matter of time but I'm still concerned with what they were searching for and if they found it.

"Headmaster Faringray, I'm really sorry about what happened to tower but we tried to do our best. Erin and I couldn't stop that women from blowing up the tower and Tempest's injuries were too severe so we couldn't chase after them. I only hope that..."

"Miss Heath" The headmaster called out to us.

"That we can somehow make this better and.."

"Miss Heath" She called out to me again which was when I stopped and turned to her. "I understand that the two of you were worried but there's nothing to worry about."

"Wait really?" Erin asked her in bewilderment.

"Yes. It was a complicated situation and I wasn't there to remedy it. All of the students were stuck in a semblance and your class happened to make it out at the right time. Only a few students were injured in the incursion and they happened to have stayed out of class like Miss Heath did. Unfortunately, they weren't as lucky as you or as skilled as you are but hopefully they'll learn the error of their ways and attend their classes. All I can do is thank you for trying" The headmaster explained with a genuine smile on her face which really felt good. I don't think she's ever smiled at us like that before or even told us that we've done a good job.

"Headmaster, is everything okay?" I asked her with genuine concern in my tone.

"Yes. Everything is fine now" She reassured her when she stood up and started packing some of the stacks of documents aside.

"Wait, headmaster. What exactly were those women looking for?" Erin inquired to peak at her own curiosity.

"You wouldn't know anything about it and trust me, focus on your studies and blend in. This isn't your job" She suggested while setting her documents aside and neatly organising all of the equipment and documents placed on her desk.

"It may not be our job but we'd like to help. Tiriara wouldn't want us sitting around doing nothing. A-At least tell us who they were otherwise we'll go searching for them ourselves" I demanded while Erin nodded her head in agreement.

"Yeah. Maddy is very good with computers and stuff. She can hack into the school's database and figure it our" Erin warned her but I stepped on her foot to help her shut the hell up.

"Well, what you're looking for isn't on the school database so you can try all you want .. but, maybe you're right. Tiriara wouldn't stand by either and you three seem to embody her main virtue, Diligence. The women you fought are all members of a dangerous cult known as the Followers of Xenovia. Does that name sound familiar to you?"

"Xenovia? ... I think Tiriara mentioned that once. Isn't that a goddess?" Erin inquired.

"Yea, it is. The goddess of rejuvenation, new beginnings and endings. I'm not entirely sure what the cult is after but the August Knights have been hard at work tracking them and putting an end to their schemes. From what we've discovered, the cult is made up of a complicated hierarchy of leaders and followers but I won't get into all of that. They're searching for the Inscription of Paradise - a magical artefact and one of several keys used to open the Advent Gates" The headmaster tried to explain but majority of the terms she mentioned meant nothing to us except for the "Advent Gates", the same gates that took her away from us.

Our expressions turned sour when we heard those words.

"Why are they trying to open the advent gates?" Erin asked her in a serious tone.

"I'm not entirely sure. I'm sorry to bring this up but you asked for the details ... I know how sensitive that topic is"

"It's fine. We're all over what happened and we're just trying to move on. Thank you for telling us headmaster" I thanked her and respectfully bowed down as well. Erin remained standing since she was deep in thought about the Advent Gates, the same gates that took sealed Tiriara away and sent us down this idle path. If she were still here, we wouldn't be in Primrose, trying to blend in with some stupid art school.

"That's ... very mature of you Miss Heath"

"Wait no, we can't let them open an advent gate. You saw what happened the last time someone did that. We need to stop them" Erin retaliated and spoke her mind. It seems that unlike Tempest and I, she still has her death on her mind and can't seem to stop thinking about it. In order to make her stop, I grabbed her hand and shook my head, gesturing for her to stop but she pulled her hand free out of anger. "Headmaster, you need to let us help. We were there when an advent gate was opened so we have experience right?"

"Erin, it's not our problem" I warned her because I do remember what happened the last time and it wasn't something I'd want to experience again.

"Maddy, it happened two months ago. You can't sit here and tell me that you don't care anymore" Erin argued with me out of anger.

"I'm not talking to you about this. Let's just move on from it already. Tempest and I moved passed this"

"Well I didn't. We.." Before Erin could finish her sentence, I grabbed her hand and stormed out of the headmasters office so that we can deal with this outside and away from unrelated eyes. To make it easier on us, the headmaster turned her head aside and allowed us to leave together.

When I closed the door behind us, I made sure to check that it was closed before turning around to face Erin. "Erin, it has been two months already. We can't keep mourning her death"

"That's just the thing! She didn't die! She was sealed behind the advent gate and we can get her out of it. We just need to find them and get inside before it seals shut again" Erin desperately suggested but I nearly slapped her when she suggested something so morbidly stupid.

"We are not going anywhere near another Advent Gate!!!" I desperately screamed which took Erin by surprise. She lowered her head like a child that has done something wrong but still feels angered by the situation. "I'm sorry but Tiriara told us not to chase after her. Anything behind those gates aren't for mortal eyes to see. Whatever's beyond there will condemn us to an eternity full of regret and I will not take that chance"

"…. I hear you .. fine, I'll tread clear from any advent gates but if the opportunity for bringing Tiriara back arises then don't think for a second I wouldn't take it and I expect you to tag along because if there's anything Tiriara taught us, it's to never leave one another behind" Erin said while tapping her finger against my chest after each final sentence.

"If it will save her then I'll gladly tag along but I won't risk so much on a small chance"

Erin's serious expression then faded into a smile. "I'll take that as a yes then. I'll go apologise to the headmaster, you can go back to class so long"

"… Fine but don't go asking about the advent gate. We need to discuss this with Tempest first" I explained it to her while slowly walking down the corridor.

"Got it!"

When Erin walked back inside the office, she quietly closed the door behind her so that she could speak to the headmaster in private. After she stepped inside, the headmaster finished clearing her desk of all the documents and carefully placed the more important documents in front of her before sitting down.

"Sorry about that headmaster" Erin awkwardly apologised but it doesn't look like she was bothered by it at all.

"No, it's fine. I can see the three of you haven't discussed your thoughts on your mentor's passing yet"

"Umm .. yeah, sorry. I was just ... wondering if you could use your reputation to include us on any operations regarding the Cult of Xenovia" Erin nervously requested after she approached the headmaster's desk.

"You want me to pull a few strings and request that you take part in extremely classified missions with strict and professional knights that have trained all their lives for the sole purpose of protecting the kingdom. They have experience on their belts and you think you hold a candle to them?"

"I-I mean .. yeah, w-we were taught by Tiriara so maybe?" Erin suggested nervously while trying to avoid the headmasters straight gaze.

"I'm sorry Erin but I cannot do that" The headmaster answered her with a straight face, turning down all hope that she had. "The results of your battle today proved that you still lack what is needed most. Strategy. Only until the three of you can prove to me that you're competent enough to take on an A-class threat then maybe I'll consider requesting that you assist on August Knight-level missions"

"A-class threat. So those women were A-class?" Erin thought to herself.

A-class was a specific concept included in the Threat Detection Classification, a system of classes that determines the threat of high-profile targets and enemies of all types. The system included threats from class E to S++ with the latter being the highest class and quite possibly the most dangerous class. The reason I used the "possibly" is because this system of classification was created for a variety of known criminals and monsters but there is still much about the world left to be discovered.

When headmaster Faringray gave her this option, Erins face beamed with joy before she joyfully nodded her head. "Yes!! I promise you headmaster, we won't fail you!"

With that said, Erin quickly turned around and ran out of the room without closing the door behind her. The headmaster tried to stifle her laughter when she watched the teenage girl joyfully skip down the corridor like an adorable child.

When Erin skipped passed the receptionist, she gleefully greeted her before skipping on her way. Faringray then waved her hand which magically closed her office door and got back to the work neatly placed out in front of her but stopped after looking up at the front door again.

"I wonder … just how much has Tiriara taught them?" She asked herself out of curiosity.

PRESENT DAY…

"So how's Tempest? Will she be okay?" Sarah asked us after we returned to class before the next period could start.

"I think she'll be fine but she definitely won't be walking anytime soon" Erin answered her after approached the tall wire mesh fences surrounding the entirety of the western training field. More of our classmates passed us as they entered the training field in groups and pairs but we stayed behind since the next period doesn't start for another five minutes.

The Western Training Field is the fourth training ground, located on a portion of land on the island. There is a view of mountains in the landscape and a large and deep river with forests in the both of its sides. Unlike the other training grounds, this is the only one that isn't inhabited by dangerous animals and carnivorous plant life, making it the perfect training ground for "Aether Control 101". The class alone relies on physical methods of teaching which is why the class takes place outside instead of your traditional classroom that could be destroyed by any uncontrollable aether energy. To protect the training from unauthorised trespassers, extremely tall wire meshed fences were stationed around the entire training ground with numerous signs posted to keep people out.

"Oh no, how will she play twister now?" Sarah gasped before asking that question.

"She can't but it won't be for long. Nurse Ratley said that she'd be up and running in a couple of days" I explained when I approached them.

"It was kind of a shock wasn't it? Are you both okay? You're not hurt are you?" Sarah continued to ask us, showing genuine concern instead of distrust like a couple of our other classmates. When I had a look around, I noticed that all of the students passing us couldn't help but stare at us and gossip amongst one another about what happened to us.

After we brought Tempest back, our clones disappeared in front of my classmates and this seems to have created the stigma that Erin, Tempest and I were liars but to make matters worse, this proved that we were the vigilantes. Normally, that would make us popular but Avelin twisted it around and made us look like villains instead. She may be a narrow-minded shrew but she definitely has her way with words.

"We're fine. Tempest was the only…" before Erin could finish her sentence, we were stopped by a group led by Avelin that interrupted us with her voice.

"Well well well .. if it isn't the liars who nearly got everyone killed" Avelin introduced us dramatically in front of our classmates. Erin didn't seem phased by her entrance at all but I just sighed because I wasn't in the mood for more of her shit.

"Avelin .. what do you want" I asked her after I turned around to face her.

"Well for starters, why don't you start addressing me with respect. That's Miss Redwald to you" She explained but this only confused Erin.

"Why would we call you that? You're not a teacher?"

"It's not just teachers that are addressed that way. It's an equivalent sign of respect between all students, teachers and staff alike" Avelin continued to explain but at this point, I just drowned it all out to sound like "Blah blah blah blah blah".

"Then why aren't you addressing us that way?" Erin asked her.

"Blah blah blah .. b-blah bleh blay blah" Avelin responded with way more attitude than Erin responded with.

"Well then I don't see why we need to address you that way either" Erin decided, crossing her arms and deciding on that conclusion.

"Blah blah blah blah! B-Blah bleh bleh blei bla blah!" Avelin exclaimed out of anger but Erin just ignored her with a satisfied smile on her face. I have no clue what they were arguing about now but I was satisfied.

"HEY!! WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING STANDING AROUND?!" An intimidatingly powerful voice screamed out from behind the fence which instantly snapped me out of my bliss and brought me back to this annoying situation. Sarah, Erin and I immediately turned around to see our teacher and most definitely one of the strongest women at the academy aside from the headmaster. Much like the crimson monster Erin and I ran into, this women was an absolute unit of muscle, built like an ox and completely unstoppable in terms of raw strength. I don't know her first name but we call her "Mrs.Fletcher" or the "Mrs.Beefcake" or just the lunch lady. Yes, I'm not entirely sure why a paid teacher is the lunch lady but I don't question women like her because that'll only get you a monstrous slap across the face. "YOU ALL BETTER STOP FUCKING AROUND!! COME INSIDE!! YOU'RE HOLDING UP CLASS!!!"

As soon as she started screaming at us, we all proceeded to shaks in fear before we hurried through the gates towards the training field where the class was taking place today. We all joined up on a few other students, making up about 40 or so students standing in long rows of ten like they would in the military. Mrs.Fletcher walked in between the rows and quietly checked us out to either destroy us with humiliating remarks or just bring down us all on a emotional level. Sarah and I stood beside one another with our hands behind our backs like everyone else but from here, I could see Whisper and Erin standing in the row in front of us.

"Now then!! All of you shitty excuses for women are finally here so the class can begin!! Some of you snobby little bitches think you can complain to the headmaster about my harsh training methods, that's right … I heard but that doesn't mean I didn't figure out who did it" Mrs.Fletcher explained as she passed by Avelin and her friends. When she did, they literally felt her breathing down their necks which already gave away who the main suspects were. The snobby clique raised their shoulders in fear while trying their best to remain strong. Normally, I would be stifling my laughter right now but this women would kill me if I did and I really didn't't feel like resting in a coffin ten feet beneath the ground for the rest of my life. "That is why today, I am going to working you little punks harder than I did before and you can blame these snobby shitfaced brats right here!"

The other girls would probably be complaining right now but this women had so much control over us that everyone remained silent.

"Who here can tell me what the Aether is?!" Mrs.Fletcher demanded when she walked in between another row of students behind us.

"What? Have you punks gotten cold feet? … ANSWER ME!!!!" She screamed which broke the tension. She stopped in front of me but I kept my eyes closed and quickly started muttering to myself.

"please don't choose me. please don't choose me. please don't choose me. please don't choose me. please don't choose me"

"Miss No eyes!! Tell me what the Aether is!!!" She screamed right in my face. For a couple of seconds, I had hoped that she was talking to Sarah beside me but the scattering seconds of silence made it extremely obvious as to who she was speaking to.

"Umm .. are-are you talking to me?" I apprehensively asked her whike she was a couple of inches away from my face. I could literally feel her breath on my face which smelled like raw eggs and other dietary foods that I can't recall right now.

"Who else would I be talking to!!!?"

"Umm … Okay. The aether uhh … the aether is the realm of unlimited energy from which we gather our strength from" I nervously answered with an answer I pulled out of my ass. I forgot the exact the definition but it was the best I could come up with under all of this stress.

"Good. At least somebodies been studying" Mrs.Fletcher remarked before she walked on away from me, leaving me with some time to sigh in alleviation. When I thought it was finished, she suddenly came back to me faster than I could realise, forcing me to stand up straight again and hold my breath. "The aether is not a realm of unlimited energy but an unspeakable plane of existence entirely inhuman in nature!!! We are all physically connected to this plane which is where we draw our energy from! Council president!!"

The hulking women stopped in front of Scarlet and kept her face inches away from hers. Scarlet was a very headstrong and great at keeping calm under distress and anxiety but she was unmistakably sweating buckets while in the presence of this women.

"What connects us to this plane of indefinite energy?!!!" The teacher demanded to know by screaming at Scarlet.

"Our appendix allows us to draw out energy from the Aether!" Scarlet answered almost immediately which Mrs.Fletcher seems to have enjoyed.

"Good!! That's right everybody! Your appendix is what draws out energy from the aether. In the past, it was believed that our appendix had no official function but since the dawn of the Global Upheaval, that same bodily organ is what gifted humanity with an undoubtedly infinite reservoir of power. We are now capable of flight. We can move at faster-than-light speeds. For centuries, the stars were thought to be nothing more than a limit for us to reach but mars is a testament to our ambitions as a species!! All because of that thin tube, humanity has reached heights that were only once thought inhumanly possible"

"Aether Energy has become a form of life energy that all individuals produce to some degree, we depend on it for survival; those who run out of energy will die. Produced within and manipulated by the Appendix, the energy circulates throughout the body, which is similar to the cardiovascular system. Groups such as knights have learned to generate more energy and release it outside their bodies. Aether energy is created when one releases aether energy from the appendix and merges it with the bodies own energy supply. That allows the user to destroy any physical limitations placed on the human body. Restoring Aether energy after it is depleted is as simple as absorbing glucose into the bloodstrean." Mrs.Fletcher explained while she passed through another group of students. This radiant white light then radiated from her body after she did exactly what she explained.

While Mrs.Fletcher was giving us a lecture, I couldn't help but hear what sounded like soft giggles that were coming from Sarah for some reason. Normally, I wouldn't have cared but something as stupid as this could get me into a lot of trouble with this women.

I wasn't sure what Sarah was laughing at but I needed to stop this. "Sarah … psst, Sarah, what are you laughing at?"

When I called out to her, she immediately stopped giggling and stood up straight until she realised that I called her. "Oh uhh .. n-nothing.."

"Look, I don't care but please stop. This women is already bat shit crazy" I tried to warn her but this only made her laugh, and loud too, enough to alert the entire class.

Mrs.Fletcher quickly stopped speaking after she heard Sarah's giggles in the back. By the time everyone turned to her, they couldn't help but notice that the position where I was standing was completely empty. I was already standing all the way in the last row, beside the last student who didn't seem mind me standing by her side.

"Do you have anything to share with the class Blueberry Princess?" Mrs.Fletcher demanded to know when she casually approached her.

"Oh sorry Mrs.Fletcher, my friend Madison said you were bat shit crazy" Sarah explained after her laughter which only made me regret speaking to her even more. Why the hell did I stand next to her? Why did I even interact with her? I should've just minded my own business and let her suffer the consequences alone but she just had to say that. There are times when I think that Sarah isn't actually as stupid as she makes herself out to be.
