Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Eight Thousand Points

Tiger looked over at the boys who wore a blank expression, reminding him of a robot, probably even worse as he had seen happy, smiling robots before. He wondered if they asked Wiskey the same question, but judging by there demeanor they probably did. Wiskey had lost his record streak, so now losing his wasn't a problem. Tiger took the point chip from his pocket handing it over to the boys and back to work he then went without an extra word.

After getting the point chip they walked away going back from where they came. Just as agreed Quil got the point chip and added it to his empty score receiving three hundred points. He felt pleased he was no longer at zero and now they were ready for another point reveal. After adding in his point and receiving his score he was shot up on the leader board standing in first place. Everyone received the notification signaling there was a new leader, some ignored the notification while those who were curious satisfied their curiosity.

Ash had just collected a point chip adding it to his score when he got the notification. He opened up the leaderboard and was stunned seeing Quil in first place, he scrolled down some more seeing Lynx in the eighteenth place. He couldn't believe they were making use of themselves, seeing this Ash smiled to himself snickering on the inside. Knowing they could move forward without him he felt pleased. He closed his screen running back to all the point areas he was stacking up to give Quil and Lynx.

The placements were as set with Quil in first place, Ash was in tenth and Lynx was in the eighteenth place. As both boys were walking Quil looked over his score again and felt proud, but somewhat bitter at the same time. He wondered if his father would be satisfied with his score and maybe if he remained in first place by the end of the exam he might get some sort of recognition. He stopped walking.

" Lynx I think we should split up. It would be easier to get more points that way"

Lynx only nodded in response and Quil showed him the next two point areas. After showing Lynx the point area he ran off in the opposite direction and Lynx jogged off on his own.

Quil had just succeeded in collecting a point chip. He opened up his screen deciding where to go next when he was suddenly surrounded by other examinees. Quil was no longer in first place and was resting in the eighth, but neither less he had a lot of points, so they wanted to beat him up and then subtract his points from him. They knew he was strong and from a powerful family, but he took the entrance exams like everyone else so he couldn't be that strong, if he was he would have been let in on recommendation. He was only one person and there was six of them so they were certain of their victory. The students surrounded Quil and a boy walked forward.

"Give us your points and you get to walk away" the boy said immediately getting to the point as he smirked along with his friends.

Quil glanced around him from the corner of his eyes before looking at the boy before him with his flat expression.

" I hope you're not deaf" the boy chuckled as Quil didn't make any movement.

" And why would I do that?" Quil asked looking up at the boy.

The boy chuckled and so did his friends. He took a step towards Quil sizing his taller frame against Quil's shorter frame.

"Because if you don't someone might get hurt" the boy answered as he held his face closer to Quil's, looking into his eyes.

"If you mean you, then I agree" Quil replied understanding the boy's intention while keeping his composure as he was not phased by the boy's words. The boy was taken aback by Quil's words as if he wasn't taking his threat seriously, but he should have expected it.

" Let me repeat myself, give me your points or things will get messy"

"If you mean you, then yes I agree" Quil said repeating himself. The boy gritted his teeth, he thought having a large number would probably scare Quil, but it was like it didn't even phase him, it was as if he didn't consider them a threat. The boy felt angered as he thought Quil was being cocky and looking down at them, either that or he was very stupid or over confident.

" Now if that's all move you're in my way and wasting my time" Quil added pushing pass the boy. As Quil spoke all the other boys 'ohhh' in chorus. Hearing the chorus of 'ohhhs' added fuel to the boys anger, he was ready to fight Quil and maintain his status.

"Listen here you discouraged bastard" The boy shouted as he swung his body around gripping onto Quil's shoulder. Quil looked over at the boy his gaze darkening. The boy was ready to throw a punch as he swung his free hand towards Quil's face. Quil shrugged his shoulder free and grabbed the boy's wrist and then spun his body using his foot and kicked the boy, but he was fast enough and managed to block Quil's blow. They all started attacking Quil joining in on the fight. He was mostly dodging and blocking hits and hit them away, but each time they would get back up.

His back was up against a wall now and they thought they had him caged. He didn't want to waste anymore time and knew he had to put more force behind his attacks. As the group rushed toward Quil was ready and fisted the first guy hitting him to the side where he did not get back up, by the next minute Quil had them all beaten and pilled to the side like laying garbage. He was walking away but before he got far he turned back remembering something. He walked over to the boys stopping in front of them.

"Earlier you said I should give you my points, which means I can take points too" Quil said making it sound like a question.

For the ones who were still conscious chuckled lightly as they realized Quil did not know much.

"Haha, didn't he listen to the rules" one laughed feeling pain, but felt pleased as Quil did not know how to take their points.

"That sucks"

"Since you know nothing why would we tell you anything"

Quil could see the resistance in their eyes. "Because" Quil said with a pause standing up and then he kicked one of the boys so hard he tumbled away crashing into the wall and instantly fainted. Quil squat down again facing them.

" I plan to collect points not lives". "Now give me your points before things get messy", Quil added as he looked over to the unconscious boy and said 'er' .

The boys swallowed hard and gave instructions on how to transfer points. They held their wrist watch close and then the text 'Transfer or Receive' appeared. As the boy clicked transfer the screen before him displayed searching for source, when Quil's name appeared he typed in the amount as he was being over seen by Quil and then pressed sent. Quil instantly received the points and he did the same with the next two. Three of them were unconscious and he didn't want to waste time waking them and with that he left.

"I guess his skill is fore seeing the future or something" Quil thought to himself as he jogged off. Even though it was six against one none of the boys managed to put a hit on Quil, not even once.

The days of the exam passed it was now the last day and everyone was doing their best to rake in points, when the clock struck 3:00pm on October 8 the exam had finally come to an end and the point system was now closed. All students received a message informing them to return back to school. They were told that their points will be calculated and the final score would be given at a later date.

On October 7th the point system was blocked as it didn't allow the students to see their scores or the scores of others, so on the 8th it was chaotic, known to many teachers as the day of betrayals as everyone started fighting trying harder to get more points as they didn't know how far they were on the leader board, even when they collected point chip the values weren't shown. The only thing visible was the point areas that appeared.

The students returned to their dorms as they could finally feel the exhaustion weighing on their limbs. Some had sleepless nights as they continuously had to watch their backs. It didn't matter if they were sleeping in a hotel, store, or on the street, wherever they tried to rest someone would find them. They had been doing the exam non stop, both day and night, and so they were given a full day to rest. Aiden, Ash, Quil and Lynx rested in the sofa as they went over their experience in the exam. Alfrid was in his room as he did not want to speak with them and Zen was fast asleep in his. Ash exclaimed how he did not expect Quil and Lynx to go off on their own.

" By the way Aiden I didn't even see you once throughout the three days" Ash said waiting for Aiden to answer.

"Oh I was hiding most of the time. I saw you though" Aiden admitted feeling a bit embarrassed.

" Really? Where?"

"On Laylaug District" Aiden answered looking at Ash's face as he was trying to remember.

Aiden laughed shyly feeling embarrassed. " I bought a pants, a shirt and a nice hat, after dressing up I walked around a bit more freely and no one saw me, except Alfrid. He saw me and just ignored me, at first I thought he was going to take my points" Aiden said resting a hand on his chest as he went over the memory of Alfrid recognizing him.

"I did have a run in with Zen too, but I'm not sure if he noticed me. He bumped into me and I fell. He helped he up and forced me into a café to apologize, we were there for nearly an hour, he just kept talking as if he forgot about the exam. It was a point area and some guys came in and saw him and they wanted to take his points. I used to commotion and escaped so I'm not sure if they did" Aiden explained feeling embarrassed.

After a day of resting classes were resumed and everything was back to normal, well most of it was. Some students found friends, others found rivals and there were those who found enemies. It was early morning and classes weren't in session yet. The televisions flicked of and a voice spoke.

"Results will be uploaded". Small dots chased behind one another on the screen showing it was loading. Some students closed their eyes, crossing their fingers and prayed for the best. A click sound was heard and they slowly opened their eyes. When the scores were displayed instantly there was chatter everywhere. Each student needed three thousand points to pass the exam. Aiden looked up on the screen searching for his name and there he saw it posing in the Eighth position with Six Thousand and Four Hundred (6400) points, he placed a hand on his chest and exhaled feeling relieved.

Ash spotted his name easily, he was aiming to be in the top ten and in the top ten he was resting in the Sixth place with a total of Six Thousand and Seven Hundred (6700) point. He felt satisfied and yet at the same time not as he looked at first place with Eight Thousand (8000) points, to everyone the score seemed unreal. Second place had Seven Thousand points, the students were stunned as they wondered how was it possible to gain so many points in three days.
