CHAPTER 159: TELLING THE FAMILY
Diana seemed in a daze as Harry spoke. His voice sounded distant, like it was coming from underwater. When he asked the question, she barely heard it until James gently tapped her hand.
"Diana," he called softly, his voice anchoring her to the moment.
She looked up at her husband, then back at Harry. Panic crept into her eyes like a rising tide.
"Harry... what if I can't handle it? What do I do then?" Her voice cracked as real tears spilled down her cheeks. "I'm scared, James," she turned to him, her voice trembling. "What if I mess up? What if something goes wrong?"
James pulled his chair closer, gripping her hands firmly.
"Baby," he said tenderly, "I'll be with you every step of the way."
"We will," Harry chimed in, reassuring her. "Me and my team. And the guys—with their wives too, we're all in this with you."
"Your whole family's behind you," James added, gazing at her with soft eyes. "Even Grandma. She's probably your biggest supporter right now."
Diana wiped her tears slowly, inhaled deeply, and gave a small smile. "Okay," she whispered. Then she turned to Harry, her voice steadier this time. "So… what's the sex of our children?"
Harry beamed proudly. "A boy and a girl."
Diana gasped softly, then broke into a wide smile. "At least I get my own boy," she said, grinning at James.
James chuckled. "And I get my baby girl."
"Well, Diana," Harry continued, "I'm going to give you a Doppler fetal monitor. It's a handheld ultrasound device that lets you hear their heartbeats whenever you want. It uses the Doppler effect and will also display their heart rates in beats per minute."
He paused before continuing. "I'll teach you how to use it."
Diana nodded, listening carefully.
"And before you ask why I'm giving you one," Harry said, his tone slightly more serious, "it's because, seeing as we still don't understand how James was able to get you pregnant..."
He glanced at James and quickly added, "No offence."
James only shook his head and frowned slightly, accepting the statement.
"I want you to monitor their heartbeats as much as possible. Just to be sure nothing goes wrong," Harry continued. "Then, when we meet at the end of every month, you'll show me your records, and I'll do the regular check-ups and adjust your medication as needed."
He went on, giving them essential information about her pregnancy and the symptoms to watch out for. When he was done with his detailed rundown, he looked up at them.
"Any questions?" he asked.
They both shook their heads slowly. Then Diana leaned forward.
"If I do have any, I'll definitely let you know," she said. "But I have a favor to ask."
Harry raised a brow, curious. "Shoot."
"Please don't tell the guys yet. Maybe you can tell them later tonight. Just… not now."
Harry grinned. "How did you know I was planning to call them the moment you walked out?"
Diana gave him a playful glare. "I know you too well. The second we leave, you'd be on a group call."
Harry chuckled and nodded. "Alright, alright. Whatever you say, ma'am."
Someone knocked on the door and entered. They handed Harry an envelope, and he in turn handed the person a piece of paper he had written things down on. The person looked at it, nodded, then left.
Harry turned to the couple and handed the document over.
"Here is a copy of your sonogram."
James took it from him and stood up, Diana's hands in his.
"Thanks, man."
"Of course," Harry replied with a smile.
"Well, Doc, one last question."
"Ask away, patient," Harry said, smirking.
Diana smiled faintly.
"Well… how fat am I supposed to get?"
"Really fat, Diana. It's not really possible to control your eating when there are two," Harry teased.
Diana sighed and shook her head dramatically, a little pout forming.
When James noticed, he turned her gently to face him.
"Well, baby, no matter how fat you get, I'll still be able to carry you…" he paused, eyes twinkling, "and love you too."
Diana laughed and nudged him playfully.
"Well, thanks, Doc," she said, turning to Harry with a grin before walking out with her husband.
Harry followed behind them quietly, watching as Diana leaned half of her body against James, the two of them walking in sync like the perfect team they were becoming.
On getting to the waiting room where the whole family was gathered, Diana leaned slightly away from her husband and looked at everyone.
The moment they saw them approaching, the entire family stood up.
"Well, how did it go?" It was Suzanne who first asked.
Without saying anything, James handed Suzanne the envelope.
She looked at him suspiciously but didn't say a word.
Katherine glanced at her. "Suzanne, I guess we should quickly check what's inside."
Suzanne nodded and quickly opened the envelope as everyone gathered around to see what was on the sonogram.
Raymond was the first to react.
"Diana... is this real?"
Diana smiled and nodded. "Yes, Dad. It's real. You're going to be a grandfather of twins."
Raymond laughed heartily and went to hug his daughter. "Very good, my child. Congratulations." He turned to James and shook his hand firmly. "Congratulations, son."
"Thanks, Dad," James replied with a nod.
Suzanne was next to hug Diana, tears filling her eyes.
Diana smiled and whispered in her ear, "Great-grandma of twins."
Suzanne laughed and pinched her cheeks gently.
"I'm so happy for you."
She turned to her son and hugged him as well.
Katherine wiped a tear and walked over to hug her daughter, holding her tightly for a long moment before releasing her and offering her congratulations.
It was a deeply emotional moment for the entire family as one by one, they gave the couple their warm wishes and blessings.

When they got home, Katherine, along with Suzanne and her two remaining daughters prepared a feast to celebrate the twins.
As tired as James was, he bit the bullet and stayed through the meal, trying to stay engaged and smiling as everyone talked and laughed.
After a while, Diana noticed her husband's exhaustion. She leaned toward her father.
"Excuse us, Dad, Grandma... everyone. If you don't mind, I need to go rest, plus my husband is very tired."
"Of course, of course," Suzanne and Raymond chorused together.
"I'll just bring your desserts upstairs," Katherine added with a wave of her hand, smiling fondly at the couple.
Diana held her husband's hand and led him quietly up to her room.
Once inside the comforting confines of her room, James pulled his wife into a tight embrace, breathing in her familiar scent as if it grounded him.
"Now I have more people to fight for and protect," he whispered against her ear.
"Well… is that a good or bad thing?" Diana asked, eyes twinkling.
"A bit of both," James murmured, but he didn't want to explain further because his lips were already on hers.
Diana responded to the kiss, leaning further into him.
He lifted her gently into his arms and laid her down with him on the bed.
Pulling away just slightly, he looked into her eyes.
"Do you want this?"
"I thought you were tired," Diana replied in a tiny voice.
"I can never be tired of wanting to be intimate with my wife. I can never get enough of you to start with." He leaned in closer, his voice low and rough with emotion. "Besides… I've missed you too much. I've missed us. I can't wait anymore."
"Then have your way," Diana whispered, drawing him back into a deep, lingering kiss.
