By the time Amelia Clarke, Owen Moreland, and Mason Carter took the elevator downstairs, Fiona Campbell's phone rang.
Answering the call, she said to the person on the other end, "Pick me up after work at five o'clock tonight."
"Really?" The male voice coming from the other end of the line was filled with surprise and disbelief, as well as a hint of incredulity.
"Yeah." Fiona Campbell slowly exhaled a breath of stale air and said, "Some people, I need to let go of. I've said before, once I walk out of that prison, you'll be the first one I'll consider."
"Thank you, Fiona. Five o'clock, don't stand me up."
"Don't stand me up."
Just like Fiona Campbell said, Owen Moreland might never know that there was such a woman in this world who had been infatuated with him, obsessed, and then let go.
Amelia Clarke wouldn't tell Owen Moreland about another woman's secret longings either.
