It was already 9:30 p.m. when they returned to the Moreland old residence.
As soon as she entered the foyer, Amelia Clarke heard Madam Moreland's lioness' roar.
"You still dare to come back? What were you doing at noon? How could you be absent for such a big matter as discussing marriage? I repeatedly instructed you to be here before eleven, and then you suddenly give me an excuse. Do you even have me, your mother, in your eyes? Huh?"
"Mom, something came up at work, I…" Benjamin Moreland explained in a patient, soft voice.
"What? Would your department collapse without you there? Huh?" Madam Moreland would not listen to his excuses, "Now go to Grace's place and apologize to her, ask for her forgiveness."
Benjamin Moreland fell silent.
Madam Moreland roared, "What are you waiting for, go now… cough, cough…"
The old lady's health wasn't great to begin with; she was so angry that she choked on her breath, almost unable to catch it.
"Mom!" Emily Yorke's anxious voice rang out.
