Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Blades of Parting

A Few Decades Later...

Nearly a thousand years had passed since Akira's battle with Guy, where Guy was utterly crushed by Akira. Since then, Akira had wandered across the entire Tensura World, waiting for his evolution to complete and his power to fully restore.

Though Akira paid little attention to world affairs, he'd heard that Guy had been appointed the Mediator of the world by Veldanava.

As for the source of this information? None other than Velzard. Unlike Velgrynd, who always accompanied him, Velzard frequently visited Veldanava for decades at a time before rejoining them for roughly a century—only to leave again.

As for Veldanava himself, Akira had never met him. Clearly, the other party was wary of him, yet for some unknown reason, had taken no action against him so far.

"A thousand years of waiting… and the evolution is finally complete." Akira murmured, feeling limitless power surging through his body. He had now truly become the Apocalypse Dragon, capable of annihilating reality and existence itself at will.

But he had no interest in destroying the world or reality. Such acts were for those who grew bored of everything—and Akira felt no such boredom.

"Though a thousand years is an eternity, looking back, it felt like the blink of an eye." Akira mused, reflecting on the past millennium. It was surreal, like a long dream that somehow also felt fleeting.

In those thousand years, everyone he'd once known had either died or vanished. Yet he was never truly alone—Velgrynd, Honoka, and Velzard had remained by his side, a comfort he deeply valued.

But now, he hesitated to return to his own time and leave them behind. "Can I bring them with me when I travel through time?" It was a fleeting thought, but Athena didn't hesitate to respond.

{It is possible. Though it consumes vast magical energy, that's no issue for Master, who possesses an infinite supply.}

"I see…" Akira muttered, rising from his workshop. He had settled in a remote village, running a blacksmith shop where he forged swords, daggers, kitchen tools, and more.

His shop was named "Visitor of the Worlds"—a fitting title for someone who journeyed between worlds.

Though he hadn't been the best blacksmith initially (his early works were little more than scrap), he'd improved over time. Now, he could even craft God-grade weapons.

And yet, the first God-grade tool he created wasn't a legendary sword—it was a kitchen knife.

Yes, the terrifying God-grade artifact was nothing more than a kitchen knife, originally intended for Honoka. But upon completion, it had ascended to God-grade status.

"Since I'll be leaving soon, I should handle the workshop properly." Akira stared at his underground forge, while above it stood the shop selling his creations—dozens of Unique-grade weapons, two or three Legend-grade pieces, and even two God-grade swords.

"I suppose the best course is to gift them to Luminous. I owe her much, after all." Akira mused. He currently lived in Night Rose, the empire Luminous had built for vampires.

"Now that it's decided, I should act." With that, Akira left the workshop and entered the shop, where Rain and Misery—his servants since his victory over Guy a millennium ago—were tending to business.

"Thank you for your hard work, Akira-sama." Misery greeted him as he emerged from the underground forge. She sat behind the wooden counter, managing the shop for the day while Rain handled housework and meals.

"Mm. I'll be heading out briefly to meet Luminous." Akira gave a slight nod to the green-haired beauty before leaving the shop and making his way to the royal palace.

Inside the Royal Palace

The palace halls were as silent as ever, draped in black fabrics and crimson silk, illuminated faintly by candlelight.

In the throne room, Luminous Valentine sat upon her seat, her heterochromatic eyes (blue left, red right) tracking Akira's quiet footsteps as he approached. He wore his usual black coat, his expression unreadable.

"I didn't expect you to visit me in person," Luminous said, her tone formal but laced with subtle curiosity.

"Well, I came to give you a gift. I'll be leaving Night Rose soon." Akira replied simply, snapping his fingers. A large chest materialized before them.

He placed it at the foot of her throne.

"This fulfills an old promise." He opened the lid.

Inside lay dozens of weapons—daggers, swords, spears—each radiating unique energy, crafted with impeccable precision. But two blades, resting in ornate sheaths at the center, immediately drew attention.

The first was a slender crimson sword with a blue rose engraved on its hilt, mirroring Luminous's eyes. As Akira revealed it, an ancient script shimmered along its blade:

Night Rose.

"I named it after your empire," Akira murmured, offering it to her.

Luminous stared at it silently before slowly taking the hilt. The moment her fingers touched it, the air around her trembled faintly—as if the sword itself acknowledged her as its wielder.

"Dark power… stable, without madness. This isn't just a weapon," she whispered, studying the blade.

"Correct. It's a symbol of your empire's majesty, not merely a tool for slaughter," Akira replied.

Then, he drew the second sword.

Moonlight—a sleek, radiant silver blade emitting a cold aura like a clear night's moon. Delicate etchings ran along its length, and its reflection seemed to pierce the darkness itself.

"This one complements the first. More subdued, but no less lethal. Both are God-grade." Akira realigned the two swords side by side.

Luminous allowed a rare, appreciative smile.

"I never asked for such things, yet you give them freely. Do you expect anything in return?"

"Not at all. It's simple gratitude for your hospitality over the centuries."

"You never change," Luminous remarked, her smile tinged with sadness as she realized this was his farewell.

"Neither do you," Akira replied curtly, turning to leave.

But before he could exit, Luminous called out, her voice almost pleading:

"Akira… must you really go?"

He paused, then answered without looking back:

"Yes. I made a promise to others, and I'm not one to break my word."

"True. You've always been that kind of man. But… will you return to me?"

Luminous smirked bitterly, regret washing over her for not making him promise to stay.

"20,000 years. If you still wish to see me, go to the Great Jura Forest then. That's my destination."

And with that, he left quietly—leaving behind a new silence in the throne room… and two of the greatest weapons the world would ever know.
