Chapter 1 - The Writer and the Centennial Tree

After a long run from chaos he'd just made, making all the town folks fumed in madness, he deliberately defended himself saying it was all an accident for burning the storage room of their crops but no one dared to believed him.

The town folks, driven by madness grabbed their tools for farming, and gather around to make the boy paid for what he had done.

Consumed by fear to be killed, hang in a public place, as a laughing stock and for his grandmother to be mocked—his kindred heart choose to runaway leaving his grandmother which is weak and old.

Without even saying goodbye.

Breathing hardly, gasping for air— as if he is going to explode from having a pang on his chest, he stopped for a moment sitting on the grass underneath a centennial tree in the middle of unknown forest to him, he didn't bother to think at all that he is lost and his situation; as that was what he wanted the most, to solved his problem, to be lost.

When he calmed himself he started to looked over his surrounding, perhaps as what he thought is just a merely metaphor, not literally to be lost. A hopeless young boy, he don't even have any idea how to go back from home, as he never remembered the path, his mind were messy—pondering, that he didn't even bother to know where he was going.

He cried again and again when he realizes, only then a miracle is luck for somebody who is blessed by gods, his head is starting to feel dizzy. He can't fathom the idea to die in the middle of the forest without anyone knowing that he already passed away. That perhaps, is a tragic story of not knowing what really happened to him. Gradually, it is not in my place to help him nor does to sympathize with him. I am just merely doing my job.

What an unfortunate soul!

With a swollen eyes, his vision is not clear that there might someone would attack him without noticing, he heave a breath—casting away the negative thoughts—and decided to take a short nap as it always solved his problem after waking up, making himself better. He doesn't even think of a potential risks that he would be more in danger if would take a nap.

He didn't considered anything at all, he just wanted to fall asleep to make himself better. He hold his head gently laying on the ground, making himself comfortable. His eyes glistening to the unexpected turn of events, he found himself again—in a middle of a centennial tree in the middle of a small lake, there an ancient path covered with vines and moss, he himself can't believed that he got lost in such a wonderful place, it is indeed havenly.

He wanted to looked more about this place, but his body is lethargic. That he needed a rest after all those run that made him drained and exhausted.

'A Centennial tree, in the middle of a lake, in the middle of an unknown forest'

Apparently, it is real as he thought it is just an illusion as his having a headache. Heavy eyes, drowsily trying to still figure out things, he can't controlled himself but to slumber—before his eyes closing, he saw a figure of a wisps hovering on the lake as it come out from the surface of the water, glowing blue and red color blend together.

"I think its dead, this human is dead" said the eleventh sister amongst the twelve sisters' wisps staring at him with murderous intent, as human is a dangerous being, however a small wisp smaller than anyone having a guts to saved him, flyover in front to tell the eldest wisps that they might lend a help and will decide later.

"Its still breathing, he's just in deep sleep" said the smallest wisp, which is the youngest, enthusiastically. She gasped, "We should help him," she uttered, looking at her sisters, hopefully.

"Why would we help a mere human, who's nature is voilent!" said her seventh sister, in anger—remembering what happened to the old age. She stand in front agressively shutting her sisters opinion, with her glow turning into red, affected by her emotions. She's the most strict and will always uphold the dignity and heed the rules.

"This is a prohibitions of us, this is against the laws" said the sixth sister, " We would be imprison or worst exiled in the mortal world" she added, worrying about them.

"We should be at least shock or scared," suggested the ninth sister, "perhaps?" curtly said.

They are not feeling shock nor scared of him, it is not new to them. A twelve siblings of wisp living on this lake as the spirit-protector, debated.

The second sister, touch his forehead—looking at his past, "He is lumberjack, maybe he encountered a demon and runaway then ended up here accidentally," she paused, "his mind is unstable I cannot see clearly what happened to him" she added, lessening the heavy atmosphere.

"But he is a human!" said the seventh sister.

"We should investigate, first" said the eight sister, "That would be more appropriate—"cut off by the fifth sister.

"She's right, he is a human"

The eldest annoyed by her sisters demeanor, who won't let others speaks and should listen first to each others opinion—have had enough, "Enough!" she shouted, making her sisters fly in distance.

The most powerful among the siblings, that she who can send you flying over with a single loud voice, decided to let the centennial tree decide, whether he is worth to be help or not.

They were scared at her, scarrier than a human being. The second sibling sigh, "Let the eldest amongst us decide, she's the leader in this pack" she said in authority, vowing her head at her eldest sister ready to listen.

Henceforth, the boy is half-awake due to the noise. That he can hear a noise squeaking like rats. So he never mind it.

They gathered together to let the Centennial Tree decide but the roots won't moved nor make a judgement. The seventh sister speak up, "He is not in position, this is a trivial matter!" she said.

They gathered to hear the eldest speak. "Let's gather round, and calls for Cennia the Great Tree Spirit of Myths" announced the eldest, they quit chattering and heed their eldest sister before it get mad again.

They're forming circles on the top of the boy, floating in thin air, manifesting the energy. They both breath to relaxed themselves, a diamond shaped, crystal coming out from their forehead, glows in pure white shining elegantly, forming into a bigger diamond combining it all, each of them with different glows, the color become one, as white as their dress. They hummed an ancient melody to call upon thee.

"Cennia, Great Spirit of the Tree of Life, Mother of Myths, Child of Wind and Earth, Hear our cry. In the name of the ancestors, we call upon you. Come forth, O Spirit of the Sacred Forest, we kneel beneath the light of your shadow. Let us feel the heartbeat of the roots, bring back the voice of the ancient worlds. Answer the call of our heart and soul."

There, appears a bright light shining through the place, a graceful being in a divine cloth, gently touch the grass with her feet, the plants bloom and grows, the wisps kneel before her, "Cennia, The Great Tree Spirit Of Myths" said the youngest wisps.

A face that can't be seen, as light propels into Her Highness, a crown that is magnificent, which has a diamond carved on it, with a symbol of the Mother nature on the center. She lifted her hand into the thin air, making them stand up in front of her, directly look into their souls. She hold a book of Myths, were mythical being is listed with their destiny written all over it.

The Centennial Tree, portal through the world of enchanted being, there she lives The Great Tree Spirit of Myths, who wielded a sword on her left hand and carries a book on her right hand, where she itself is the tree.

"What is it, my child?" she asked, "That you called upon my name," she said.

"Your Highness, a human person invade the sacred place—and we who your servants asks thee the punishment of this mortal" Said the eldest, in shaky voice.

Her presence is enough for you to tremble in fear, for she is death and life, and shall not look upon its eyes, for it either take or give you life. Her siblings still not looking directly want to speed up things quickly and no more. The eldest fidgeting, legs uncontrollably shaking, heartbeat racing, still put a face in front.

The youngest who's determined and bold, fly to the front and leveled through Her Highness, smiled genuinely. "May I ask?" she asked nonchalantly.

"Yes,"

"He did not do anything, I assumed that he is just lost as I saw him crying and lost in thoughts that he intend to fall asleep to make things better and sort it out after he's awake," her mouth speak faster than an arrow hit its target, "What is your judgement?" she asked in curiosity.

Well, for sure, wisps can feel the human emotions and would even used that in their advantage by manipulating and controlling the human. They were known as enchanted creature that is whether bad or good that depends on the situation, they are winged tiny creature that has a sharped ear with a diamond on their forehead, protector of the lake, perhaps a guardian of the lake that heals everything.

"As you wish," said Her Highness, flying away, becoming smaller each distant. "When he wakes up he will find himself, home. In return, of your assumptions—you will guard him and if he'd remember this place that is forbidden to human, you shall take his life away," Astonished by what she heard, that her siblings sigh in relief, she found herself determined to proved that the human is just lost.

Her highness disappeared and them left vowing their head holding it for minute, fall onto the ground. The seventh sister, notorius amongst of them, grab her shoulder aggresively that it made a bruise, each one of them had a special talent, this one has great strength, she's grunting from the pain that made her fall, begging for her sister to stop.

As they could telepath, "Have you lost your mind?!" She shouted, fuming in madness.

"I was just—" she cut her off.

" You could have put us on danger!" she slapped her sister hard enough to show a bruise, the other siblings watch her without a single empathy. Nor sympathize, "Why are you acting so bold, as if you could defy a God? We're just a lowly enchanted being," poking her hardly that it made her head bounce at once. "Remember this, you're such an attention seeker," and fly away.

"Remember that," said the fourth sister, flying away back to the water.

"Stubborn," said the ninth sister.

And followed the other sisters to the water, the second to the last sister was left with her, standing in front of her. She know to herself that her younger sister only did the right thing, but couldn't fight with seventh sister, as he talen is music. She looked at her, for the last time, smiling to her.

She'd shed a tears, after all of her sister's long gone. Flying toward the human, she hold her chest constricting a pang, she barely couldn't fathom as it is her sisters. A throbbing pain that she barely recognized hurts more than a magic that pierced onto her body.

As what it meant, is that she's exiled, for defending a human who is a stranger that has an innate voilent nature. A human who's thirsts for power and needs are insatiable.

She landed on the top of the human's chest, healing it with her own tears, in human eyes they are just a light ball, but on the clearer side, they are more than of what a human can imagine. Just like this centennial tree where the leaves is fairy, created likely as leaf-like-fairy, that is powerless but stronger in groups.

She hum a chant to travel in one place to another by disappearing into current place to appearing on another one, basically that is just teleportation. Thus, it is complex world of enchanted being that is onerous to comprehend, that I cannot understand what is going on, for I only write what I'd witnessed, they moved on their own accord, and I just simply taking notes to write their story on the book of life.

A single tears fall onto her cheeks, " O, Spirit of Wind, Amihan, grant me power to ride the wind, and let my destination shall come forth in a speed of light, like how a leaf falls on the right place on a dry land" chanted the youngest wisp, the boy float on the thin air, a powerful energy circling them glow, synching the rhythm of her chant.

Just like that they did disappeared.

Even if we'd get separated, still, I would ended up where he is. As quick as how the time fly in Mount Makiling, I found him on his room, snoring loudly.

How unfortunate!

It's been three hours and still he's in deep sleep. Maybe his worried state shocked him after all that he need to sleep heavily, the youngest wisp is gone and no longer to be found, I was searching for her all over the town and yet she disappeared out of nowhere.

This is a mortal world after all and sighting such creature would put her at danger since human are the most dangerous at all, they are feed with countless evil things. I've had been with humans, been with four human writing their story, with this quill pen in my hand. And I can say all of them is a trash.

He is my fifth human, gradually, it does not benefit me at all writing their story, it is my job. I had a bigger hope for him that he would proved me wrong, however, after what happened on the farm, cowering is a disgrace, he is the same with those four human in my past life.

Later at afternoon, an old woman in distress looking for her grandson, had been longing for him to come back, is somehow a miracle for a person who is missing five years ago, to jsut suddenly appear out of nowhere.

However, things unfold mysteriously— that human called a miracle, a sudden event that is unexpected and unexplanable on their intellect.

She opened the door to comfort herself by staying at her grandson's room, twisting the knob with full of hope closing her eyes for a miracle. A cold breeze of air welcome her, a room that is small and filled with dust, a book scattering on the desk, a messy book piled on the shelf, a mattress of bed sheet that never been washed but yet clean as it never touch. A cobwebs complimenting the room.

She walked through with sorrowful soul, a pain that is burdening her with a heavy heart, a swollen eyes that is grieving, an old woman who is depressed. She hold the edge of the blanket, taking it out to laundry as it is been years. Losing hope and giving up already, accepting the fate of her grandson.

An event she never expected, shake her world.

"H-huh...blessed is the Bathaluman" covering her mouth with her hand, she fell down on the floor bumping her back on the wall. "Oh, god..." she exclaimed, in disbelief.

She found herself gasping, shock, and confused of what is happening in front of her. A boy sleeping soundly, horrified her after a minute as she thought he's dead for years. She slowly walked toward him, wanting to know if she's just imagining or it is real.

She pinched his cheeks that made her stepback after she realized she's not dreaming. She crawled back to the corner processing what is going on, hurting herself but the pain felt too real that she's adamant to hugged her grandson of joy, yet doubtful as this world works with magic, especially dark magic that he might be a work of the Seven Dark Gods, that represent the human evil nature—as the enchanted being blamed them of the existent of these monster for their voilent nature.

Apparently, their place is in havoc of the Dark God Minions, the demons and dark being that served them. Her face that lightens with hope, happiness, and miracle, is estranged with doubts.

She need a priest, to exorcist, his grandson if it is truly him or not. She need to be vigilant and stayed to secured her safety that must come first, nevertheless, she is drawn to her grandson sleeping peacefully. It is indeed selfish for her, but this a must, a thing she need to do for her grandson.

A fleeting moment happen suddenly, an answer to her doubt—whether it is her grandson or a demon. He woke up sitting on the bed, fixing his hair, gently yawning covering his mouth, his grandmother jumped in joy—it cast away her worrying and doubts.

He rubbed his eyes and see his grandmothee with wrinkles, her face look different and also his room. He is very much confused about his grandmother's demeanor, jumping with a big smile like she's celebrating a victory. His legs are a little numbed, a throbbing pain on his head that made him little dizzy, holding his head.

His clothes is still the same, his hand, voice and face—he is touching his face, confused and worried why his grandmother is aging yet he is still the same, a mirror placed facing him, shows his reflection, and quickly jumped out on his bed.

"Who are you?" he asked, demanding who is the old woman in front of him. He don't want to believed what he see, what her grandmother is up now, older. He grabbed a book on his bedside table, threatening his grandmother. "Who are you and how did you—" he was cut off by his grandmother.

"This is me, your grandmother!" she sound defensive and confused, "What do you mean 'who am I?'..." said confusingly, that made him dumbfounded.

'This is much more real, is she really my grandmother?' What is happening right now, is that it feels weird and strange.

"You're o-old?" he stuttered.

"What do you mean? It's been five years since you were missing, Haran!" she said that made her in tears, remembering about what happened and her struggles of finding him.

Haran, left shocked and mute, can't comprehend what his grandmother mean five years ago, when it feels like yesteday had passed. His heading throbbing in pain, made him weak and blurring his vision, collapsing on the floor. Her grandmother quickly reponses, shouting his name, bursting in tears. Things escalated so fast that they are both left confused.
