[Scene : Colt in the garden, sitting on a chair, on the table in front of him are chunks of gold ,silver and copper]
*Edwin and Luna approach him*
Edwin [floating up to sit on a chair] : "What are you doing?"
Colt [turning the chunk of gold into several coins without engravings] : "Making money."
Edwin [with a blank stare] : "Isn't that counterfeiting?"
Colt : "It's a bit more complicated than that. Not that I care."
Edwin : "How so?"
Colt [to Luna] : "We used money made of paper back on earth, people who tried replicating it were deemed outlaws, like bandits. *looks at Edwin* but that's not exactly the case here."
Edwin : "Again, how so?"
Colt : "No matter how you look at it, this is genuine gold and with the same purity as the coins."
*Colt closes his eyes while holding a made coin, closes his fist, opens his eyes and fist, hands Edwin the coin, with the engravings.*
*Colt opens his item box, takes out a gold coin, hands it to Edwin.*
Colt : "Use "atomic sense" and tell me if there's a difference."
*Edwin closes his eyes holding each coin in one fist*
*Edwin opens his eyes*
Edwin : "Wow!"
*Hands them to Luna*
Edwin : "I'm starting to think the threat that I should protect the world from is actually you."
Colt [laughing] : "Probably."
Luna : "But why make these when we can make and sell diamonds?"
Colt [as he makes more coins] : "It's more efficient I guess? I just like doing this stuff."
Edwin : "You just like the fact that no one can catch on to what you're doing."
*Colt shrugs*
Luna : "What are we doing today?"
Colt : "Now that Edwin's learned about this world and its resource distribution, it's time for him to make his own golems."
Edwin : "You speak of this world like it's a game."
Colt : "To us it is. You'll see for yourself."
[scene : The three of them in the arena]
Colt : "I'm running low on silicon, making what you asked for, so we'll be making silicon golems today."
*Colt hands Edwin a chunk of silicon*
Edwin : "What now?"
Colt : "Keep supplying it with mana and don't stop until the core is formed."
[scene : The silicon golem is being crushed under the weight of a "graviol" spell]
Colt : "How many times is that?"
Edwin : "five."
*Colt smiles*
[scene : The three of them are eating]
Edwin : "I'm really glad we have this place to ourselves but I have to ask: why are we still eating in wooden tableware?"
*Luna looks at him with confusion.*
Colt : "My parents and Luna's parents sometimes come here. We need to keep up the illusion."
Luna : "What illusion?"
Colt : "We used to eat in plates made of glass and tableware made of metal, much easier to clean, safer..."
Colt : "At this point all my family knows is that I'm rich and have crazy spells, all Luna's parents know is that we come from a different world, they have no idea about the difference in technology."
Luna : "Not even I know it."
Colt : "It's the same difference between a copper golem and a titanium golem. If we were to share a fraction of what we know with the world, it'll change forever."
Luna : "Then why not share the harmless things you know?"
Edwin : "If I had to guess, it's because we don't know what's harmless."
Colt : "Besides, we don't have the right to dramatically influence this world's progress, not hinder it or accelerate it. What we do is make sure it doesn't end up like ours."
Edwin : "That's my job."
Colt : "Right, and on that note, we'll be going back to the magic academy starting next week."
Edwin : "Have fun."
Colt : "Don't open the door to strangers!"
Edwin : "Sure, go ahead and make jokes."
*They all laugh*
[scene :In front of the academy gate Colt and Luna walking towards Luc and Lea. Luc seems concerned and spaced out]
Colt : "Hey Luc, been a while since the fishing lessons."
*Luc doesn't seem to have heard a thing.*
Lea [after a moment of silence] : "Sorry, we're happy to see you it's just-"
Luna : "What's causing this much turmoil inside you two? You're very worried, Luc is getting overwhelmed with sadness."
*Lea looks at Luna with sadness and a bit of surprise.*
Lea : "Its… It's nothing."
Colt : "Give it up. If Luna says there's something, there's something. Now spill it."
*Colt places his hand on Luc's shoulder*
Colt : "Are you going to tell me what's wrong?"
*Luc snaps out of his transe*
Luc : "Huh...?"
*Looks around*
Luc : "Oh, you're here."
Colt : "What's wrong?"
Luc : "There's nothing wrong."
Colt [tightening his grip] : "We've done this with Lea. This is the part where you spill it."
Luc : "I'll talk. I'll talk."
*Colt lets go*
Luc : "It's Anya. Her father has fallen ill, healers have treated him multiple times, he seems to get better but after a day or two he falls ill again."
Colt : "Keep going."
Luc : "I've received a letter that Anya has fallen ill and won't be able to attend school due to fever, that was yesterday. Which means she's been sick for three days at least."
Colt [trying to fake caring] : "I'm sure she'll get better eventually."
*Luna gives Colt a quick, stern look*
Luna : "Do you know what's happening? What are they suffering from?"
Luc [in despair] : "It starts with fever and muscle aches, then Anya's father started vomiting, when a healer got to him a day later he was barely able to draw breath."
*Colt is frozen in place*
Luc [In desperation] : "Please, if you can help her before she gets worse, I beg of you to do so."
*Colt doesn't respond*
Luna : "What's wrong?"
Colt [in a very low tone] : "The worst case is-"
Luc : "What was that?"
Colt [speaking normally] : "Have any others caught the same thing?"
Luc : "I don't know."
Colt : "It seems, that we won't be attending school either."
Lea : "Does that mean?"
Colt : "Yes, we'll go as your retainers or escort or whatever, when can we move?"
Luc : "Tomorrow morning."
Colt : "Works for us. Now if you could explain the situation to that devil in there that would be great."
Lea : "Leave that to me."
[scene : Colt and Luna walking through a gate]
Luna : "You were awfully quick to offer help this time, not to mention the worry I sense from you."
Colt : "Not yet, I'm just thinking of the worst possible case. It's me overthinking again. Let's wait and see first."
[scene : Colt and Luna are sleeping at night]
*Colt's silhouette sits, turns to look at Luna, gets out of bed*
[scene : Colt in the elevator heading to the lab]
[scene : Colt sitting in the lab in front of various flasks]
Colt : "This way, I don't have to make them from scratch... only the final touch is needed."
[scene : Colt getting up, the view shifts to show several glass Petri dishes full of white and off-white powders]
[scene : Colt and Luna (Human form) are with Luc and Lea in a carriage]
Colt : "So we'll be accompanying you as your retainers and guards. *smiles*That explains why it's only one carriage this time. Not that you'll need more than that."
Lea : "Please don't say it when smiling like that."
*Luna shakes with laughter.*
Colt : "I won't kill anyone unless they deserve it."
Luc [sulking a bit] : "The idea that you can kill so easily is terrifying on its own."
*Colt shrugs*
[scene : The group getting out of the carriage one by one in front of the Luminus mansion. The mansion is huge, with a well taken care of garden. They are greeted by a butler and two maids]
The butler : "Greetings my lord. I am Anthony, I will be accompanying you and lady Lea in the stead of the head butler."
Luc : "Very well, but why isn't the head butler available?"
Anthony : "I'm afraid he has fallen ill with the same disease as the master of the household."
Interesting.
[scene : The group walking the halls, they stop in front of a room with a closed door]
Anthony : "This is the master's room. Unfortunately, no one is allowed inside on the healers' orders."
They instinctively knew to isolate the infected. Not bad.
[scene : The group standing in front of another door, but this one has a maid sitting on a chair next to it, the maid has blonde hair and golden eyes, the maid stands up]
Anthony : "A healer was here two days ago. Lady Anya got better. However, yesterday she was struck with fever again."
Luc [to the maid] : "And you are..."
The maid : "My name is Alice, my lord. I am lady Anya's personal maid."
Something doesn't seem right. The master himself didn't have someone like that standing by his room. What am I missing?
Luc : "I'm going inside."
Anthony : "But my lord- !"
Luc : "My sister is a healer too. Maybe we can do something to help."
Anthony : "In that case, I'll be waiting elsewhere."
*Takes the two maids and leaves.*
Luc : "Let's go."
Colt : "You go ahead first master Luc, we'll be right behind."
*Luc looks at him for a second in surprise, then he and Lea open the door, enter the room, door closes*
*Colt and Luna exchange glances, then look at Alice who's been standing there*
*Luna approaches her*
Luna [in a soft tone] : "You're Alice, right?"
Alice : "Yes my lady."
Luna [smiling] : "I'm Laverna *points at Colt* this is Dolion, my husband. We guard the masters, though we're only commoners like you. Don't be so nervous around us."
Alice : "Oh."
Luna : "You seem to like lady Anya, yes?"
Alice : "She's kind to all of us, when some of us started falling ill-"
*Alice stops talking and places a hand on her mouth*
So the damn thing is contagious as hell.
Luna : "We're not saying anything, I just want to know why you like her so much."
*Alice slowly puts down her hand, hesitantly speaks*
Alice : "She's been nice to everyone here, we sometimes call her the saint amongst ourselves. When some of us started falling ill, she was the one who paid for our treatment. Some got better and didn't get sick again, but when a healer gets here she pays them to treat everyone."
Colt : "Isn't that the master's duty?"
Alice : "No, he said that we're supposed to pay for ourselves*places her hands on her eyes* it's one large silver per person, if it weren't for lady Anya-"
*Luna surrounds Alice's shoulder with her arm.*
Alice : "That's why I'll be staying right here until she gets better."
Good sob story. I'm in.
*Colt opens the door*
Colt : "Time for us to go inside."
*Colt and Luna walk inside*
