Sitting down to rest, he opened his back pack and pulled out some of the rations he had left from his dungeon prep. Munching on a boxed lunch with chicken, rice, and a small salad, he felt content in his new situation. Cracking open a water bottle he ponderd what he was going to do with his class and how to best survive.

He settled on exploring more of the cave, which turned out to be much larger than he originally thought. Due to the narrow crack at the entrance, no monster could sneak in, which calmed his nerves greatly. He noticed that past the first circular room of approximately 30 sq/ft her saw another opening. Seeing his eye sight better than prior in the dark, he wondered if it was due to the strange descriptionless class allowing better sight in dungeons.

Putting that aside, he ventured into the narrow crack leading deeper into the cave. With only a few foot thick wall he quickly made it into the next chamber, which revealed a much more soft floor comprised of dirt. Looking a bit off in the distance he also discovered a small pond in the still rock covered corner of the room.

Walking around and taking a bit of a census of the room he discovered it was huge, several fields in length and width, with a semi-square shape.

"Wow, it's spacious in here. If I'm going to be a gardener in the dungeon, I guess this is the kind of place that's perfect for such a class"

'Click' he pressed the new button and was presented with a new screen boasting a large variety of different items, skills, maps, and a chat log separated into several sections. He was shown how to list items, sort items by prices and availability, and how to check his balance.

Racking his mind for a while, he tried to think of anything that would help him out of this. Until he heard the now infamous ding of the system once more.

After fiddling around in the shop for a bit he was able to sort it and bought a few items and several types of seeds.

"Perfect I should have everything I need for now. I still have 3 coins and loads of rations (3 weeks worth), let's see I got my sleeping bag, tent, and some more survival supplies in the dungeon back pack they have me after graduation, I think that's all I'll need for now."

(After graduation, every student is given an enchanted bag which is a basic artifact and easy to produce. It has a slight spatial enhancement, making it five square feet in diameter and has weight lessened by 35%. He has basic camping supplies and clothes but the store has higher quality and have enhancements)

He quickly changed into his new work clothes and put his leather armor into his backpack. Using the small pond feed by a underground cave (very small, size of a soccer ball in diameter), which he notice had small amounts of fish present he filled the watering can.

He began surveying the cave and looking for the best places to plant each of the crops. Using his affinity for earth magic he began to scan the soil for mineral composition and acidity. He continued his survey of the caves soil and after two hours he finally understood the majority of the soil's composition. He began taking notes in one of the blank note books he had grabbed just to be safe before he went to the dungeon (he has several pens, pencils, and a few miscellaneous art supplies, plus several notebooks and a few sketch books).

After recording the data he gathered about the areas of the cave, he realized that even in such a small area there was a lot of variation in the soil. He had learned a bit in school about microclimates and ecology, so he tried to drum up all he could remember about it. Deep within his thoughts he didn't notice as a small part of his status screen changed.

Suddenly his eye glowed and a small magic circle began to engrave itself into his retina. Holding his eye, he couldn't help but collapse to his knees as his eye began to burn he felt tears welled up in his eyes. After several minutes the pain receded and he was able to see again, though it was different from before. He now could see through the soil slightly and some how understood the soil composition, moisture level, soil depth, temperature, acidity, and minerals present. This new eye functionality shook him to his core, but not as much as the realization that he could understand what plants that he had would grow best in that spot. Just as he was figuring out more about his new ability he heard the now infamous ding, which was promply followed by a notification from the system.

• Farm scan now available:

Allows user to scan farmland to determine the best areas to plant certain crops. This ability developed due to the users understanding of soil and how certain factors affect it as well as the advancement of initial tier earth affinity from interductory to novice.

(Elemental affinities range depending on comprehension, the goddess granted him an interductory rank of earth magic which in the initial rank, after is novice, the apprentice, lastly for the beginning tier is mastery. Only the name of the second tier is known commonly, which is saint. The better the affinity the stronger one becomes with said magic)

With his new found ability he managed to quickly plant all the seeds and ended up with a rather diverse dispersal of the crops, while the trees were in the same area, he just made sure to space them properly. He finally was done with his tasks and his watch, some how still working showed it to be around 8:30 pm. He decided to quickly whip up his dinner, which ended up being rice and a few different caned fruits and vegetables. Quickly filling up his purifying flask with water and using it to boil the rice on his portable mana powered grill (just a little fold up one, with one side being a flat surface for cooking and the other being a burner for grilling and pots).

After wrapping up his meal he quickly went and washed himself and his clothes in the pond before setting up his tent and passing out in his sleeping bag on his cot. He slept well, probably the best he had in months. Finally able to let go the stress and feel free from the oppressive fate which otherwise would have plagued him if he hadn't ended up in his current circumstance.

He awoke with a start as his mana powered watch blared its alarm at him, he quickly turned off the alarm and fell back to sleep for a couple more hours, truly enjoying the well deserved rest. Once he had awoken fully he noticed that there seemed to be a new message in the system.
