Fiona walked back into her room fuming. CHANGE, something people are scared of, some hate it, some make do with it and move on, some love it and wait for it. But she didn't want this change, her life was not here. Yes, she couldn't afford all the fancy clothes, parties, beauty treatment and all but she just wanted a quiet and simple life. Maybe a life with little to no changes in her daily activities. But here Fiona found herself, far away from home, from her peace and quiet.
Sigh, she couldn't blame her mom. Madam Lia clearly wanted the best for her. To make her happy and outstanding. Startled by the sound of her alarm, she realized it was time for her to check the process of her online store. Fiona is into drop shipping, where you don't have to buy goods to sell. Although, it's not easy to get buyers, she still managed to make a very good decent living with good marketing.
Scrolling through her phone, a knock on the door came in. Who was it again? Fiona grumbled within her. Don't they understand the meaning of being alone. Either way she stood up to see who it was. Guess? Arielle, the lady of the house. "Uhm, hey hi." Arielle strutted as soon as she saw Fiona, "I know any word of advice will seem ridiculous too you. But you have to learn now that there are some things we hope not to happen but they still do but it can't stop us from being who we truly are. I believe me when I say I know what's it truly like to be far away from home." She said calmly and silently that if you weren't listening you wouldn't hear anything.
To be honest, to Fiona, Arielle was giving fairy godmother of Cinderella at the moment. She just left extremely cooled down, all the irritation, agitation and anger had gone down a great deal. But that wasn't all the last words of her sister in-law left her dumbfounded for some minutes "Anywhere can be home, that is the people and the moments is what makes somewhere home not the place itself. House is a building but home is the feeling that the people bring. You can only be at home here if you feel at home. Be you, only then you can feel it."
These words dealt a huge blow to her heart; it was like as if something had touched the core of her heart and it felt beautiful. Coming back to her senses, Fiona finally realized that she was alone at the door. She turned stiffly back into the room and looking at it with newly found knowledge, she began to appreciate the beauty in it. Of course, who ever decorated the room had her at heart. Everything was done according to her taste and more as if to please her to make feel comfortable and at ease. An extra room was indeed attached to hers, which was more like a study or studio.
There's a drawing desk, cutting table, sewing supplies, a wall full of color palates hung on it. It brought back memories of her room back at the country side where she hung color palates at the back of the door, which she used for matching. Fiona felt extremely warm inside as a drop of tear escaped from her heart. She had thought her mother was just being overbearing and not wanting her to do fashion again. Then it occurred to her that maybe, she was just looking out for her and nothing more. Madam Lia knew indeed that fashion was an expensive career that why despite her wanting a peace life, she had to comprise and sacrifice it, so Fiona had to achieve her dream. What is a greater than a mom's love for her child?
With this Fiona sped out of the room to look for her mom with gladness and gratitude. She found Madam Lia with her brother, Finneas sitting at the garden having been escorted by a maid in this direction. "Mommy." Fiona called out immediately she entered causing them turned in union to her direction. This action made her face to be flushed in shyness. "Fiona!" Finneas called out using his hand to beckon on her to come over. "I didn't mean to interrupt." She said still standing on the spot. Fiona hated the momentary impulse she had just now, she was ready to face her mother, but not her brother not after the ambiguous things she said at lunch. "Oh c'mon, don't treat me like am that old." Finneas said aggrieved.
But you are. The thought popped up in her head and was already at the tip of her mouth but she bit her lips immediately halting the words. "My goodness heavens, she thinks I'm old." Finneas cried out dramatically after noticing her little action. Fiona walked bit by bit towards them. "Fiona, where are your slippers?" Madam Lia finally spoke. She looked directly at Fiona as if she was going to smack her the next moment. "Uhm, Slippers…. Yes, slippers, they--"Fiona stammered as she was then interrupted by Finneas who had some point walked up to her and lead her to seat beside him. "Mother, it's okay. She isn't used it yet." Turning to the maid, he instructed, "Get her some slippers and also tell some from the kitchen to bring her some dish."
Fiona was stunned and protested immediately "I'm not hungry. There's no need for food." A frown appearing on her face. "But mom said you forget to eat sometimes when you get busy and you didn't eat much at lunch either. And don't say you have a model fit because that not what it looks like. No one diets in my house, who cares about flat tummy these days." Finneas resorted with a frown. "Hehe he." Madam Lia laughed at the rant of her two children.
"Mommy, he's bulling me." Fiona said acting cute as she stood up and went to sit down beside her, pulling Madam Lia's sleeve. "Bully you? No, that's child abuse. I won't do such." Finneas snorted. "Who would believe your age when your body looks 16, huh? Add some flesh to beat some bullies, would you?" He pestered because of course; he had pleased with he's mom a lot of times to take her into his custody but Madam Lia had refused because she was still afraid of the danger that made her flee in the first place.
So, for Finneas seeing Fiona so lean and pale angered him so much because he knew he could give her so much but yet he was helpless. Now she was here, he wants to feed her till she could barely get up to walk.
Madam Lia held Fiona's hands as tenderness sipped out from her eyes as she looked at her. "Listen to your brother, okay?! You need to add more flesh on your bones. Look healthy and wealthy." These words sounded like a charm in Fiona's ears because relaxed her guard and smiled "Okay, mommy."
