Chapter 132 - 132 - Diabolic 3 Equivalent price

*

The camera shot a ray of light at the heavenly king. Deflected, the light dispersed without so much as a look from her. The light rays did not pause, a hail of them shot out of the air around Christine, like bands of shooting stars forming a spectacle. Lastia and Taneda rushed in, despite Lastia severely lagging behind. Her clones vanish like rain drops, barely reaching a distance before the air pressure exudes by the heavenly king vaporised her presence.

She would never run out of clones, at the same time her efforts were futile... Nevertheless, the energy efficiency of {Feed} only increased with the lack of a mortal coil. The usual conversion rate was always around 80% of the original quantity of energy absorbed, and that was under the condition that the energy was coming from an A grade or lower entity. If the opponent was outputting too much, she wouldn't be able to convert in time, {Feed} itself could get disintegrated and lead to her own death.

Yggdrasil lifted this limit. It was always storing, converting, analysing. Making it easier to absorb, convert even more, and output it as her own attack... Right now, Lastia existed as a colony of mindless energy clones vaguely shaped like her magical girl form. The clones rush to their deaths, crowding around the heavenly king every so often. The amount of energy that Yggdrasil has stockpiled made this army of clones look like a drop in the bucket.

They're all useless, but that wouldn't deter them. Taneda rushes in coordination with Christine, a faint white glow wraps around her body.

"{Fated ones evanescent dream}, full power." (Taneda)

The one who guides the fate of victory, a compass leading to the destined glory laying beyond the paltry value of material. Even so, she was still only A grade. With a single swift kick, Taneda was knocked away to fly far off into the distance. She stretched her hand and slammed it into the ground, swinging her body away from the heavenly king to land on her knees. Slowing the momentum, she kicked off and once more closed the distance between them.

Her wrought iron sword expands into a great sword, requiring both arms to grasp. She swings with practiced ease and slams it into the air in front. The heavenly king steps back, deflecting each hit without much resistance. Repeatedly, the rough 'clangs' resounded from each ferocious collision. The enemy looked like a magical girl with greyish teal hair, a black and white bodysuit reminiscent of French maid styled frills without the propped up skirt, and a pair of nasty claws that resemble human hands with overly enlarged nails.

The nails look nimble, fragile even, but they exert an unimaginable pressure with incomprehensible precision. It wouldn't even be fair to say that Taneda made the enemy put in effort into the fight, even with her full power and magic burning like a reactor, she wasn't able to exert a modicum of influence on this battle.

The clones of Lastia remained at a distance away, not because they refused to attack. If one scrutinised the battlefield, they were still actively rushing the opponent. They were simply dying before they could reach a close distance. There is no longer a main Lastia, Yggdrasil would imprint her memories onto select clones that it seemed worthy enough to influence the battle, but ostensibly nothing had changed.

Taneda and Christine were doing just fine, it was like having a storm of bodies obscuring their own locations, with how many Lastias were flying towards the heavenly king and meeting their end. Inhumane, horrifying. Creating and throwing life away like water... Well, almost. For now, the clones were mindless. The selected chosen one with memories of the actual Lastia remained hidden in the storm. Even though she knew she wasn't the genuine article, she was afraid of death all the same.

Even if it was only a single day's worth of memory, she still lived like a human. The situation was deteriorating rapidly. Christine's light beams haven't done much, they couldn't get close and make direct contact. Even if they did, Lastia doubted that it would do much. The opponent was superior in all aspects, not only in combat ability and physicality, but also in magic resistance. Trying to debuffs her half heartedly would just result in the magic bouncing off of her like a rubber ball.

Taneda spun the greatsword in her hands before it abruptly stopped, she rushed faster than ever before in her life to give out a powerful thrust. *ping* The blade bounced off the opponent's nails with a slight metallic hum, Taneda's wrist and elbows exerted full power. With expert manipulation, she drew back her blade for more successive attacks. In a rapid motion, her blade swung left and right, each time knocked away by those dreadful long nails.

She jumped back, and the opponent pushed forward. She swung up, almost cutting into the heavenly king's jaw, only for her neck to twist and dodge it elegantly. The black stripes hanging off of the heavenly king's black and white bodysuit frayed calmly, almost as if it didn't realise their owner was moving. Objects remained stationary, unable to detect sudden shifts in her movement.

If she desired, if she were to thrust her nail, who knew whether Taneda would survive. She had the leeway to observe, but she sensed something was off. With Eterna's suppression, she couldn't achieve much with her avatar. But here... The three were hanging on by the skin of their teeth, keeping her occupied after surviving the first blow, then hiding amongst the energy clones of Lastia. But now... Taneda revealed herself, it was best to kill her now.

"{Fleeting light won't stop for you}." (Christine)

A direct hit, immediately after Taneda began to engage the enemy. She gambled her life for such a small opening which was visually and magically obscured by the clones. Christine launched it from a safe spot...

" A curse... The debuffs I give will trigger her curse of an equivalent lethality...

I'm not much of an attacker, not that being an A grade fighter would help much at this point. So... I'll be going off first.

~flash~ "(Christine)

The blindness induced by the camera. To surpass the heavenly king' s magic resistance, she will pay an equivalent price. The opponent's blindness was nearly worth her life, she blacked out and collapsed on the spot.
