While they were in the car, Yue Ning tried to get Huo Feng to speak, but it all proved futile.
"You are so up-tight, no wonder Yue Chen didn't like you," she snorted under her breath, but she didn't realize that her words were heard by Huo Feng who turned to look at her.
"Do you think I'm so up-tight?" He asked.
Yue Ning slowly turned to look at him as she was not expecting him to ask such a question.
"Was that question meant for me?" She pointed to herself in shock.
Huo Feng nodded.
Yue Ning scratched her head awkwardly. She didn't expect that he would actually hear what she said.
"I'm waiting for your response," Huo Feng pressed for an answer.
"What do you expect me to say? You are so up-tight, you frown a lot, you never smile, and your expressions are stiff."
"This could be one of the many reasons Yue Chen didn't reciprocate your love." She said all these while closing her eyes, and fearing for her life.
Yue Ning wasn't aware when she said all these, but she truly felt lighter after she completed her statement.
When she didn't hear any sound from the other party, she slowly opened her eyes, only to see Huo Feng staring at her.
She instinctively let out a yelp, but slapped her mouth shut instantly.
"Can you help me?" Huo Feng pleaded.
"With?" Tilting her head, Yue Ning whispered.
"Help me learn how to smile, and also show a variety # of emotions," Huo Feng begged.
The car came to an abrupt stop. Yue Ning blinked in surprise.
Huo Feng turned to the driver who gave him an apologetic smile, and resumed with driving.
"What did you say?" Yue Ning asked, while praying her ears were playing some sort of trick on her.
"You heard me, I want you to teach me how to smile, how to laugh. I don't want to be so up-tight anymore," Huo Feng explained to her.
Yue Ning secretly pinched her thighs while praying she was in a dream. But the sharp pain she felt told her otherwise.
'Host, this is the best time to get close to the second male lead, you might not have another opportunity like this again, you have to seize this chance,' the system said to Yue Ning.
"I am aware, you don't have to remind me. But I can't accept his request so easily," Yue Ning answered as she looked at Huo Feng whose gaze was on her.
"So what do you say?" Huo Feng asked.
Yue Ning was silent for a while, before nodding.
"Great. When do lessons begin?" Huo Feng asked excitedly.
Yue Ning was taken aback by his excitement, and she was tempted to think that he was doing it for Yue Chen.
As the thought flashed through her mind, she became disgusted instantly, and it could be seen on her face.
"Let's keep lessons for now. Now, tell me, where are you taking me to?" Yue Ning changed the topic instantly.
Huo Feng could see that she was in a bad mood, so he decided to tell her the truth.
"I'm taking you to see my grandmother, but we need to fix you first," Huo Feng replied, eyeing what she was putting on.
Yue Ning sensed his gaze, and she wrapped her hands around her chest immediately.
"It isn't my fault that I don't have good clothes, it's all thanks to your precious Yue Chen," Yue Ning snorted, looking out the window.
Huo Feng kept mute as he didn't know how he was to reply to her statement.
He knew that what she said was the truth, and he couldn't refute her statement.
"You don't have to worry about what to wear since you are already married to me," Huo Feng found himself saying to her.
Yue Ning turned to look at him, and the disbelief in her eyes couldn't be hidden.
"You don't believe me?" Huo Feng asked.
She shook her head immediately. It was good that he wanted to help her out, although she still pondered on the reason.
All of a sudden, the car came to a halt, and it was only then Yue Ning realized that she was still in the car.
"Shall we?" Huo Feng asked, and left the car.
Yue Ning exited the car as well, and her jaws dropped when she saw the building she was standing in front of.
Huo Feng who was standing beside her slowly dropped his hands. He had wanted to open the car for her just like a gentleman would do, but Yue Ning was faster than him.
"Let's go in," he said to her, and she happily walked beside him.
"This is the best boutique in Haicheng, just like the author described in the novel," Yue Ning muttered.
"Did you say something?" Huo Feng asked, and she shook her head.
He stared at her for a while, while he wondered if he was heading things.
"Welcome, Mr. Huo. We've been expecting you," one of the attendants greeted with a slight bow.
"I presume this must be Mrs. Huo," the staff smiled as she looked at Yue Ning.
"No, I'm not...."
"Yes, she is. So I assume you'll give her the best treatment," Huo Feng replied before Yue Ning could complete her statement.
Yue Ning, on the other hand, stared at him with parted lips. She never would have imagined that he would acknowledge her as his wife publicly following the circumstances in which they got married.
"Go in, I'll be waiting for you here," Huo Feng urged when he saw that she was frozen in a single place.
"Right! Dress," she murmured before walking away with the attendant.
Yue Ning tried various dresses, and she lost count of how many dresses she tried on.
After she was done finally selecting a dress, Huo Feng looked at her, and nodded satisfactorily.
Yue Ning thought it would be a peaceful day. Meet Old Madam Huo, make her like her, then head home.
But things don't really go our way no matter how we plan it.
While they were about to leave the boutique, they bumped into Yue Chen, and an unfamiliar man.
Yue Ning silently groaned on seeing her, but she was particularly interested in knowing who the man standing beside Yue Chen was.
"System, who is this man?" She asked curiously.
'This is the male lead of the novel, Kang Beichen,' the system answered.
Yue Ning almost choked on air, stunned by how different he looked from the novel. But before she could fully react, Kang Beichen's gaze locked on her, and his eyes narrowed.
