Chapter 300 - Chapter 300

The large knight stood motionless, his booted feet sunk slightly in the wet earth, gazing down with indifference at the unconscious woman sprawled in the mud. His shadow loomed long across her small, vulnerable form. Lifting his gaze, he looked up at the young man beside him—his lord, a noble with unruly blond hair, eyes like glacial daggers, and a cruel smirk twisting his features. Magic flickered faintly at his fingertips, and the knight knew from experience what came next. It was never anything good.

High above the ground, two hours later, Ali sat at the very peak of a lonely mountain. Surrounded by cold wind and silence, he opened his eyes the exact moment his Spirit reached its maximum. 'Time to begin', he thought with deliberate calm.

He reached into his inventory and slowly drew out a pair of gloves—black, leather-like, reinforced with shimmering golden engravings that traced arcane symbols across the surface. He took his time, sliding each glove onto his hands, flexing his fingers once they were secure. Then he pulled out his mask—a black, angular thing carved with golden engravings —and pressed it against his face.

SHINNNNN

A pulse of energy surged through the gloves and mask simultaneously. Golden light burst from the engravings, veins of magic racing over the surface in an intricate web of glowing lines. It was as if his gear had awoken, responding to his Spirit.

Ali closed his eyes again and stepped into the recesses of his Spirit Realm. There, in a dimension of thought and will, stood his enormous summoning gate. Ali inhaled, then spoke aloud, "Fire."

The gate responded instantly. It groaned as it parted a mere sliver, just enough to unleash a torrent of red-hot power. His Spirit drained completely in an instant—but he wasn't finished. "Wind," he commanded.

As if in answer, the golden light flared even brighter. Strands of radiant energy rose from his body and fed the gate, replacing the Spirit he had just spent. The summoning had begun.

When Ali opened his eyes, the world felt different. The air was thick. The pressure on his body had increased. Then—off to his right—a black plume of smoke surged upward like a living cloud. It twisted and churned violently, forming a vortex of darkness that smothered the air in heat.

And then—

ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAR

A deafening roar erupted from the inferno as a colossal fire dragon emerged from the smoke. Its body was a massive wall of red and black scales, pulsing with inner heat. Its wings flared wide, ringed with fire at the edges, igniting the wind around them. With a thunderous crash, it landed on the side of the mountain, its razor-sharp claws sinking deep into the rock to anchor its massive weight. Smoke hissed from its nostrils like a forge brought to life.

At the same time—

WOOOOOOOOOO

The sky above him changed. The wind shrieked as it gathered around the peak, forming a spiralling cyclone. The tornado shimmered with streaks of silver and green, elemental power in pure motion.

Then came another roar—this one not as brutal as the fire dragon's, but somehow more piercing. Precise. Focused. Like the sound of disciplined war drums before a battle.

ROAAAAAAAAAR

From within the eye of the windstorm, another dragon emerged. This one had sleeker scales with an emerald shimmer, and its streamlined head bore two elegant horns. With a single graceful swoop, it slammed into the opposite face of the peak, claws digging into the stone with much less force—but no less authority.

Ali stood tall between them, the mountain trembling under the weight of elemental power on both sides.

"Do you know who I am?" Ali asked, his voice cutting clean through the wind and smoke.

The fire dragon's massive head swung toward him. Smoke curled from its snout as its golden eyes narrowed. Then, the dragon roared but it's words entered Ali's mind: "You are the holder of the contract. Ali."

Ali's mouth curled into a smirk, though his voice remained flat. "Wrong," he said aloud.

His gaze locked onto the fire dragon's ancient, prideful eyes. "I am your master."

The dragon snarled lowly and shifted, smoke rising in thin trails from its exposed fangs. It tried to lift its head, to assert its dominance.

"DOWN."

Ali's voice thundered, and both dragons—one born of flame, the other of wind—slammed their heads against the stone, compelled by the power of his command.

Ali turned his back on the wind dragon and approached the fire dragon, who still growled low with barely restrained defiance. Ali didn't slow his steps. He walked right up to its snout and—without hesitation—stepped onto it. His boots pressed into the blistering heat of its scales.

"This is the difference between us," he said, voice quiet but more threatening than a scream. "You are a weak dragon answering my call. Not only am I your master… I am the master of your ancestors. Every dragon, from the smallest lizard to the oldest ancient beast, obeys my words. Know your place—and obey."

His black eyes bore into the fire dragon's glowing yellows. For a moment, time froze—then came a subtle, defeated whimper from the colossal beast. A growl of submission.

Ali smiled faintly and walked up the dragon's massive head. The heat rising from its body would have seared a lesser man, but Ali didn't even flinch. With calculated ease, he climbed up its muscular neck and mounted it like a throne of scaled steel. His hand gripped tightly onto the thick, rugged ridges of its spine.

"UP."

The fire dragon obeyed immediately. It let out a fresh roar, one of rage but not rebellion—like a war cry bound in loyalty. Its wings spread wide, igniting the wind with waves of fire. With a mighty heave, it leapt from the mountain's side and took to the skies.

Ali's body tilted with the dragon's motion, and yet he felt no fear. 'I can control its flight with my thoughts', he realised. Their connection was instinctive—pure.

The massive Fire Dragon lifted his body and landed once more at the edge of the mountain's jagged peak, his claws grinding into the stone with a thunderous scrape. Ali stood upright, balanced effortlessly between the ridged spine and the thick neck of the beast.

"You too, raise your head," Ali called out, his voice firm, laced with an authority that reverberated through the windswept air.

Across the peak, the Wind Dragon responded with immediate grace. Her slender, serpentine neck curved upward like an arching river of light, her head rising with an elegance so refined it was almost royal.

"Thank you, Master," came her voice—not aloud, but within Ali's mind, carried on a soft, soothing current. It was like wind brushing through silk. "Your word is my command. Our Mother instructed all of us to obey your every word, Master… unlike the foolish Fire Dragons."

The moment her words finished echoing in his head, a growl rumbled like distant thunder beneath Ali's boots. A stream of smoke hissed from the Fire Dragon's flaring nostrils, and heat gathered around his massive head.

"What did you say? I dare you to say that again," Abeloth snarled, his voice a furnace of pride. ROAAAAAAAR! Flames burst from his maw in a warning arc, licking the edge of the sky with molten heat.

"ENOUGH."

Ali's voice cracked through the tension. Both dragons froze, their instinctual deference locking them in place. The air stilled. Even the fire stopped crackling.

"Introduce yourselves," Ali ordered, his tone level but heavy with authority. "And tell me what you're capable of. You first." He patted the thick scales beneath him as he looked down at the Fire Dragon's armoured crown.

The dragon's throat rumbled as he began to speak. "My name is Abeloth," he declared, his mental voice deep, rumbling like magma shifting beneath a volcano. "Proud descendant of the Fire Dragon Lord. I am a veteran of many battles—against my own kind and the savage beasts of the outer skies. I can endure the fiercest flames and burn down entire worlds with my breath."

To punctuate his claim, Abeloth lifted his head, opened his vast jaws wide, and ignited the skies.

A swirling vortex of scarlet light spiraled into his throat. A moment later—

FWOOSH!

—a ferocious torrent of red fire exploded from his maw, cascading through the night like a sea of living flame. It painted the clouds in crimson, setting the sky aglow.

Ali squinted slightly, shielding his eyes as the inferno swept overhead. 'Very hot… he could melt steel with ease', Ali thought, measuring the power. And yet, as intense as the heat was, it didn't harm him.

"Are you absorbing your own fire? Is that why I'm not being burned by it?" Ali asked, calmly analysing the effect.

"Yes, Master," Abeloth replied as the flames died and only smoke curled from his snout. "Our Father commanded all Fire Dragons to never bring harm to you under any circumstance."

Ali chuckled faintly. 'So their father told them that much… but didn't command them to obey. Prideful indeed', he mused, his eyes narrowing.

"Your turn," Ali said, shifting his gaze to the shimmering Wind Dragon.

"My name is Eldora," came her soft voice, as elegant as a melody played on wind chimes. "I can fly faster than any other dragon. My wings are the hands of the wind. Though I am not a fierce combatant, I can command the currents of the sky and deliver devastating gales upon your enemies, Master."

Her words wrapped around his consciousness like a breeze brushing against his skin—gentle, but impossible to ignore. Ali had to admit: he preferred her presence to Abeloth's furnace-like pride.

Ali stood tall between the two legendary creatures. "My name is Ali," he declared aloud. "I have summoned you into a world currently under siege by Paradise. Its Origin is being siphoned away as we speak. This is your opportunity—both of you—to grow stronger. To evolve beyond what you were. Learn from me, and I may call on you specifically when I require fire… or wind. But," he paused, his voice darkening, "if I am not impressed, I will have Bahamut himself spread word of your incompetence to every corner of Dragon Hall. I will hesitate to summon one of your kind again."

The threat hung in the air like a sword at their throats. The burden of representing their entire lineage—the fire dragons and the wind dragons—fell squarely on their shoulders.

ROAAAAAAAAAR!

"I will not disappoint, my Lord!" Abeloth bellowed, his voice ablaze with pride and fervour. "I swear it on the ancient fire that burns all!"

Ali gave a sharp nod, satisfied by the response.

"I will give all that I am," Eldora said more gently. "Even if it means death in this world and a weakened rebirth in Dragon Hall, I will not fail you, Master."

Ali turned his head slightly, a subtle smile forming behind his mask. "Don't worry," he said, his voice quiet but honest. "I will avoid risking your lives as much as I can. Just as you protect me—I will protect you."

He turned his eyes to study them both fully for the first time. Now, under the light of their summoned forms, he could make a clear comparison to Shadow.

Abeloth, the Fire Dragon, was large and formidable. His head was slightly smaller than Shadow's, but similar in shape and structure. His scales were a deep, molten red, glowing faintly like iron left in a forge. His eyes burned yellow, fierce and noble. His body was a powerful forty meters in length, including a long, muscular tail. Each of his four limbs ended in thick, black talons—sharp enough to cut stone like silk.

Eldora, the Wind Dragon, was a creature of grace and fluid motion. Her body was slimmer, her head smaller and framed by two curved, green horns. Her scales shimmered silvery green, like moonlight dancing on rippling water. Her wings, however, were her most striking feature—nearly double Abeloth's wingspan, vast and feathered like a storm-cloud given form. She had only two hind legs, her wings functioning also as forelimbs, ending in hooked claws capable of grasping or slicing mid-flight.

She was, Ali thought with appreciation, beautiful. Not just elegant—but artful. A contrast to Abeloth's brute-force heat and burning fury.
