Inside the cave, you can see everyone praying to the adventurer Leonard who died before ever experiencing the relief of two determined boys to their land. Some people drank small cups, some who knew him spoke about his days, some even couldn't help but wonder if someone, including themselves, had spoken about Leonard leaving that morning, then he would have still been alive today.
The moment Frisk's group returned, everyone was greeted by the depressed state of Chara's group. The other group was informed of the death of Leonard as they too felt like they lost a friend and member.
Even if not everyone knows Leonard, those who didn't know him didn't want to be disrespectful to those who did and offer their condolences.
Frisk and Chara were currently checking on the stuff that Leonard left behind, and they found a note that was meant for both of them. When they read it, neither one said anything, at least until Frisk spoke noting the tools, book, and sketches that were in a box.
"So, these are the things Leonard left behind for us?"
"Yeah, including the instructions on how to make a Wind Glider. Leonard's glider could still be repaired, but it depends on whether someone here has the talent like his. He wanted us to continue his work of making more gliders, as well as letting everyone know of the legacy he left behind."
Frisk couldn't help but look at the broken glider, sure to an angle it could still be repaired, but like Chara said, unless one of them was capable of remaking what Leonard spent years on creating.
"Well, the materials required to make a glider seem somewhat manageable to get, but some of these materials are limited. So unless we have a lot of these materials at our disposal, then we could do trial and error to ensure it works, glides well, and makes it more durable to prevent it from being damaged or destroyed."
"So we just use what we have wisely, and also ensure that the glider will be usable. Leonard was able to make something like this by himself so there shouldn't be any doubt that we couldn't do the same."
Chara glances at the people who were still silent about everything as they wonder if any of them have the potential to recreate what Leonard created.
"Perhaps we should have people make something in this area. Maybe start with making homes for the people here, it is getting a bit cramped here with new recruits."
A "bit" may be an overstatement as there are people who are trying to get comfortable with the space they have. Some even had to go outside the cave to not feel a bit suffocated.
"Yeah, I think we should get started on making houses. Hmm… I think I have the blueprints for the simple houses in my bag."
"...How many things did you bring in your bag?"
"For the potential of a nation that will thrive with our stuff of the future."
Chara was going to ask what they meant by that but figured it wasn't worth the effort to ask. Especially since they even knew that some of the things would take centuries to be fully made.
"Okay, well let's see those blueprints."
Frisk did so as they brought out several different designs of what they could build with everyone. Thought Chara had thought of something.
"I just realized that nobody will learn the words of the blueprints. So, the best case scenario is that we have to tell them step by step how to build a house."
"Or…?"
"Have someone teach us the text of this nation. Sure, we know German, and it might be similar, but who knows if it is the same for this world?"
Frisk was thinking of whom to ask; they already had a few people in mind, but couldn't decide which could help the best. Soon they made a decision.
"Perhaps we could have Ventus help. He comes through every time we need something crucial."
"Even though it is a coincidence that he was able to find us, let us know about Mondstadt and tell us about Boreas. But at least he's helpful. Is the prayer still going on?"
Soon, the prayer ended as Frisk and Chara approached Ventus, who greeted them both while Barbatos was slurping on the cup of wine.
"My fellow friends, do you both wish to discuss something with me?"
Chara nodded as they had a look of concern when seeing Barbatos drinking. But the wind spirit couldn't care less about what they're thinking.
"Yes, Ventus, I'm sure you already noticed the number of people who arrived in the cave."
"Yeah, I almost had to step out just to not feel crowded. I am envious of Barbatos being small and being able to float."
Barbatos just floated around as it wanted a head pat from Frisk, who obliged. Now, Barbatos looks blissful. Chara could only sigh as they continued.
"Frisk and I are planning on building homes for everyone here. We have instructions for how to make a suitable home but we doubt anyone, even you, will be able to understand what it says."
"Oh, do you both wish for me to help you understand the text so you can translate?"
"Yep, we can still tell people what they can do but we can't always be there to tell them what they should do, we still have a god to overthrow."
Ventus nodded as he saw their point. Everyone still has to be at their absolute best if they all want to have the upper hand in defeating the tyrant.
"Yeah, will that be a problem if it goes on like that? We could start right now, just have what this blue picture says, and we can both learn each other's text while we're at it."
Chara liked the idea as the three walked out of the cave as Barbatos was still being petted. They all went to the other side of the mountain where they could all see trees that had not been cut down yet.
They all sat down on the grass that now looked dry as Chara laid down the blueprint. Frisk has high-quality paper ready for writing with a pencil.
"Okay, so this is called a blueprint. B-l-u-e-p-r-i-n-t, so how do you spell 'blueprint' in your own words?"
Chara spells out the word for Ventus to see as Ventus himself prepares the word for the blueprint. They scribble the word on the paper slowly for the Dreemurrs to see.
"E-n-t-w-u-r-f"
Chara immediately noticed the word was similar to back home. So, in their mind, perhaps it will be Ventus learning English.
Sure enough, the text is similar to the German words they learn, but there are a few differences in some of the words. But at least Frisk and Chara were able to make a Mondstadt version of the blueprint.
After maybe like half an hour, possibly more. Ventus was able to learn a few English words as they couldn't help but be awed at the design.
These homes look very comfy to live in. But it's going to need a lot of wood."
Chara had anticipated this as they spoke.
"Well, it's a good thing we have wood. All we need is an axe. Unless you know someone with an axe."
Ventus immediately thought of anybody who owns an axe.
"You can use mine."
A female voice spoke as everyone turned to see Venerare holding a stone axe. Chara's first instinct was to ask her if she is a Minecraft player, but abandoned the idea as they immediately realized how ridiculous it was.
Plus, they immediately noticed the look on her face that said she wanted to help. So Chara quickly brought her up to speed as she had a delighted look.
"That sounds like a great idea! I shall cut down the trees!"
With no hesitation, she immediately began to chop the nearest tree off with a unique speed that had the tree float for a few seconds before gravity took control.
The results made Chara want to rethink their question. But decided it was better not to question it. Although they noticed something on her right wrist.
A jewelry-like gem with a light blue color, with a symbol that is Cryo. Chara swore they had seen something similar that Venerare had but couldn't put a finger on it.
"Hey, Chara whatcha doin'? Focusing on Venerare's looks?"
Chara didn't speak back as they were focused on the Cryo gem.
"Hey, Frisk, did you ever notice that gem on Venerare's wrist?"
Frisk went from teasing to look at where Chara pointed. At first, Frisk looked surprised until it went into shock.
"Venerare has that gem too? I thought Gunnhildr had that kind of gem."
Now it was Chara's turn to be shocked as they looked at Frisk.
"Gunnhildr has the gem too?"
"Yeah, I noticed it during our trip to Mondstadt, but didn't think much of it. But what I couldn't help but notice is that I felt an untapped Anemo energy within that gem."
"Untap… Wait!"
Chara immediately realized why they suddenly felt Cryo energy the moment they and Frisk returned from fighting Boreas. During that time, they couldn't understand it as it worried them if it was something that was put on their student. The gem had elemental powers hidden inside.
But, what exactly is the gem, and how could it hold elemental powers inside such jewelry? More importantly, how long had Venerare and Gunnhildr had those gems?
And… Wait…! Ventus!
"Ven! Did you by chance have a gem that has the Anemo symbol on it?"
Ventus was startled by the nickname Chara had just given him, but hearing their question had him nodding. He even showed his gem, which is the color turquoise, and it was on his torso.
"I did, it was when I decided that I wanted to stop Decarabian's tyrannical rule. This gem suddenly appeared in my hand as I felt my desire increase, including my determination."
"The gem increases the person's desire and even their determination."
Chara muttered as they took note of the information, and Frisk asked their own question; they were now intrigued by the gem.
"Did it do anything else than what you said?"
"Hmm… Well, there was one time I channeled the Anemo elemental to make a wind arrow. Here let me show you."
Ventus took out his bow but didn't pull out an arrow. He grabbed the string, pulled it back, then suddenly the gem glowed as a wind arrow was created. Pure Anemo energy as if Ventus was using magic.
The arrow was launched at the tree which cut through entirely. The arrow even vanishes after hitting its target.
Frisk and Chara gasped at the power it showed. It wasn't as strong as their Anemo blessing but the power was still strong.
"There is also something else I should say. I don't know why, but I saw a vision of the day we won the rebellion. Just a simple vision, but it felt real."
Neither Dreemurr nor did they know what to say. Both of them wanted to say something but were unsure what to say as a reply.
"Whatever it is, I believe it makes me stronger. Feel more ambitious about what I wish to see, and that is freedom."
Ventus spoke as he launched another wind arrow at another tree as Venerare saw this and yelled thanks to him.
"I'll do my best to contribute to everyone and to you both. Not only are both of you our hopes and dreams, but you're also our future."
His words stunned Frisk and Chara as they never thought they would hear again as it brought back memories.
For Chara, it reminds them of when their adopted father announces them to be the future of monsterkind even on their deathbed. For Frisk, it reminds them that during one of their deaths, they heard Asgore saying Chara is monsterkind's future, and before/during the fight with Asriel.
The two look at each other, both of them thinking of the same thing. Both were impacted by the words that came out of Ventus' mouth. It really shook them both as it brought unpleasant memories of the topic of death.
But for Chara, maybe for them, it was the chance to do what they should have done back in their world, to be the future of the people, but this time for the humanity that accepted them. To atone for their sins they caused.
But, there was still doubt within their half-SOUL. The SOUL they took from Frisk in the attempt to get rid of the player who controls them. What it cost to get rid of the mastermind behind the action they caused permanent damage to both them and Frisk.
"Frisk… Am I still worth redeeming?"
Chara asked, not for a whisper as they doubted anyone could hear them. Frisk looks at their twin, knowing what they're thinking about.
"You are, you're proving that by helping everyone. And to be honest, I'm even wondering if I'm worth being redeemed as well. After all, you weren't the one who started the genocide. And I was the one who damaged you even more than what the player did to you."
Chara still didn't look happy."
But… What if something happens during the rebellion, and I have to force myself to use the corrupt power that I'd obtain after taking your SOUL with the max of LOVE? What if everyone who views me as somewhat normal turns on me and calls me a demon?"
Frisk recalls the power they saw as their subconscious was able to witness the fight between Chara and the Player. It was something they'd never thought would even exist, but now Chara has that power and is afraid it will be seen as demonic.
"I… Well, you don't have to use that power. For something that powerful and corrupted would be seen as a last resort. Besides, we have three blessings from beings who are powerful in our eyes, even if Barbatos doesn't appear strong to others but we know just how the prayers are helping.
Plus we still need to involve our usage of these blessings. If Istaroth hadn't told me that we could create spells with the blessings, then we would have been relying on just what we were able to unlock. Plus we could use the blessings to use other SOUL traits that would have required the ways back home."
Chara looks back when Frisk told them they were able to use the SOUL trait for Patience; it still shocks them that this whole time, no one had turned the SOUL cyan, teleport mode would have still been unknown. Still, they are glad Frisk was comforting them.
"Yeah, you're right, I don't know why I was thinking of that when I already had other ways instead of that power. Still, you know someday I'll have to use that power and hopefully, it won't be at a populated place."
"Well, that day is still a long way away, but like I said, there are other ways than using that. And who knows if it changed when we got to this world, but I don't see any reason for you to check it."
"You're right about that, I don't even see the reason to use it right now. Hmm… Perhaps we can improve our blessings with those gems. Ventus now definitely had the affinity to use the wind element."
Chara already has ideas of how to learn with the gems and blessings. But until they can figure out if the gems also provide the time element then they have to train the time blessing in other ways. But with Venerare, Gunnhildr, and Ventus' help, each of them will have a better understanding and will to use their elemental powers.
"We'll put the elemental training on hold, we've got homes to build. Once we're done with this whole war, then this will be the new Mondstadt."
But for now, it is all about making homes for everyone to enjoy. And like back home, you move from one home to another, one where you can start anew.
