[Hala: You can Surf to Akala Island to find the Island Kahuna Olivia for your next island trial!]
Hala began seeing off his guest after teaching Chris how to use the Fightinium Z and Icium Z crystals.
The Z-Move for Fighting-type is called "All-Out Pummeling," and the Z-Move for Ice-type is called "Subzero Slammer." Chris had observed and learned both moves.
From now on, as long as his physical strength was sufficient and he wasn't too embarrassed, he could use them in battle.
It didn't matter much when using these moves in the game, but using them in reality?
Well, unfortunately, Chris—a man of perfect dignity—refused to experience such social humiliation! Especially considering that in the future, with his growing popularity, there would definitely be videos of his battles.
Chris didn't want such embarrassing poses to become a permanent stain on his reputation!
However, the generosity of "Two-Two-Seven" Hala exceeded Chris's expectations. In the game, Hala only gave out a single Fightinium Z, but now he had unexpectedly gifted an additional Icium Z.
Chris had been worried about whether he could collect all eighteen Z-Crystals during his island challenge, but now his concerns were somewhat alleviated.
Perhaps the Kahunas of the other three islands would be equally generous and offer two Z-Crystals each.
Putting away the Fightinium Z and Icium Z, Chris departed from Iki Town.
He used his Flygon to fly to Hau'oli City, then Surfed to Akala Island.
Unlike Melemele Island with its particularly prosperous metropolis, Akala Island had three cities, all smaller than Hau'oli City.
However, because Akala Island featured a large volcano, it boasted natural hot springs and rich Fire-type Pokémon resources, making it an extremely popular tourist destination among the four islands of Alola.
Arriving at Akala Island, the first place he encountered was "Heahea City," the gateway to Akala Island.
Chris first visited the Pokémon Center to heal his team and register his progress.
Then he immediately began searching for Totem Stickers.
This time, Chris spent a full two hours on the task.
Only then were all the Totem Stickers in Heahea City found. Compared to Hau'oli City, although Heahea City was smaller, the locations of these stickers were far more challenging.
For example, one was hidden under a satellite antenna on the west side outside the Dimensional Research Lab.
Another was behind a chair on the balcony of a room on the third floor of the Tide Song Hotel.
These locations were so tricky that each time Chris found one, he wanted to curse the game designers as incompetent, yet simultaneously felt an inexplicable sense of accomplishment.
"It was so difficult to find, but I found it!"
Yet he inevitably worried that he might have accidentally missed some, which would force him to search the entire area again.
After thoroughly scouring Heahea City,
Chris collected 11 new stickers. Added to his previous 17, he now had a total of 28—more than the 20 required to claim his first Totem Pokémon!
So, Chris immediately rushed to find Professor Oak's "Alola form" (not exactly), Samson Oak.
Kanto's Professor Oak is named "Samuel Oak", and Samson is his cousin who resides in the Alola region.
Alola's Professor Oak was easy to find. Chris had spotted him earlier while searching for Totem Stickers. He was on Heahea Beach in Heahea City.
Chris hurried to meet him to exchange his stickers for a Totem Pokémon.
[Professor Oak: Oh ho ho~~, are there still young trainers looking for my Totem Stickers scattered throughout the Alola region?]
[Professor Oak: Let me see how many Totem Stickers you've collected...]
[Professor Oak: A total of... 28 stickers?!]
[Professor Oak: Very good! You've met my first requirement. As an encouragement, I'll reward you with a Totem Pokémon unique to the Alola region.]
[Professor Oak: Please choose among these three Pokémon!]
Professor Oak suddenly produced three Poké Balls and placed them before Chris.
This reminded Chris of when he first received his Treecko from Professor Birch at the beginning of his journey.
However, back then, he could use the non-saving shutdown technique to refresh his starter options.
But now that was no longer possible. Similar to trading Pokémon or exploring dungeons, once Chris completed an action, the game automatically saved.
It was somewhat like transitioning from a single-player game to an online one.
The same principle applied to selecting a Poké Ball now. Once chosen, the game would automatically save.
But Chris recalled that there had been no option to choose a Totem Pokémon in the original game. The first Totem Pokémon given was relatively mediocre...
Chris reached out to inspect the three Poké Balls...
The Pokémon contained within were: Gumshoos, Alolan Raticate, and Alolan Meowth.
Well, he took back his previous thought.
The first Totem Pokémon options were indeed mediocre.
For these three Pokémon, Chris could only see what creatures were inside, not their specific stats. He could only choose the Pokémon itself, not its individual values.
Mediocre Pokémon, not much of a choice.
Among the three, Gumshoos seemed the best option. Alolan Meowth was unfortunately in its Alolan form, and both Alolan Meowth and Persian were honestly quite unattractive.
Otherwise, Chris might have raised a Persian for fun.
Just to experience what it was like to be like Team Rocket's boss Giovanni!
He picked the Gumshoos.
Its stats immediately appeared before Chris.
Gumshoos(Normal)
[Level: 20]
[Ability: Adaptability (the effect of same-type attack bonus has been increased from 50% of the original attack power to 100%)]
[Individual Values: HP (31), Attack (31), Special Attack (13), Defense (31), Special Defense (18), Speed (21)]
[Moves: Sand Attack, Tackle, Leer, Payback, Work Up, Bite, Mud Slap]
[Held Item: None]
HP, Attack, and Defense all had perfect IVs of 31.
Not bad!
Gumshoos's base Attack stat of 110 paired with an individual value of 31.
Combined with the "Adaptability" ability, when using Normal-type moves, its power would be explosive!
"I'll have to raise the price when selling this Pokémon!" Chris thought while rubbing his chin.
He placed Gumshoos in his party.
Chris wasn't discouraged by the relatively modest first Totem Pokémon.
His goal was to collect all 100 Totem Stickers and obtain the pseudo-legendary Dragon Totem Pokémon from Professor Oak. Judging from the current situation, it seemed he might have other choices by then!
