"For as long as I can remember, I was a good person. Then it all went down... before that day, I was good my entire life." A woman narrates how she got to Hell.
In a small town in rural America, there is a red schoolhouse with a mural on the side reading, "LEARNING IS FUN", right above a cluster of kites over a rainbow. Puppies Junior School was a picture perfect place with beautiful trees and a playground for the students to play. Birds fly over head as the bell rings, starting the school day. In a certain classroom, the teacher opens the curtains to reveal singing birds before she writes, "Good morning!", on the blackboard.
"Good morning~!" Joyfully twirling, she greets her class. "I hope you all did your homework!"
Six happy students nod excitingly as they begin to sing, the teacher joining in. "~We all love to do our homework, and we love our teacher, too!~"
"~Then, when I throw out these questions, you should all know what to do!~" The teacher sang.
"~Okay!~"
"~Two plus two is...~" She wrote the problem on the board.
"~Eight!~"
"~And behaving good is...~"
"~Great!~"
"And now, Class, tell your teacher what is the time of day and date!~" The teacher led like an orchestra conductor.
Gleefully obeying the kind woman, four students each sing the details of the day. "~It's nine in the morning! On January 8th! The sun is out smiling! And it's your husband's birthday!~"
While her students continued to sing without a care, the teacher paused at the mention of what the only kid with a dunce cap had said. Sweat trickles down as her eye twitches; she had forgotten.
"Oh my heavens!" She faces the class. "Stop singing, children!"
Respecting their teacher, the class did as instructed.
"I've made a horrible mistake! I forgot it's my husband's birthday, and I didn't get him anything special!" She lamented.
"Oh, I know, Mrs. Mayberry!" One of the two girls raised their hand. "Maybe we can call him, and wish him happy birthday!"
"That's a wonderful idea!" The teacher, Mrs. Mayberry, supported her student.
Forwarding to the bedroom Mrs. Mayberry shares with her husband, the birthday star is revealed to be in 'action' with another woman. The word "Wifey" appears on the desktop computer ringing. In the middle of removing their clothes, an unused condom lands on the keyboard and answers the call. Mrs. Mayberry's face appears on the screen with her class in the background, but the angered teacher quickly takes up the screen.
The teacher stares in shock at the revelation of her husband having an affair while her students respond with fear and concern for Mrs. Mayberry. Her face quickly changes to an empty frown as she stands up and heads for the door.
"Wait! Mrs. Mayberry!" The girl from before runs up and grabs her teacher's hand, pleading. "Remember what you taught us! Think before you act."
Uncharacteristically, Mrs. Mayberry grabs her student by the neck and tosses her through the ceiling as the other children can only look in horror. While she heads to her car, the teacher's class scurries to the window and watch her drive home through a white picket fence. Knowing where she'll go, the kids return to the computer just as Mrs. Mayberry arrives.
The children watch in horror as the situation unfolds. Mrs. Mayberry kicks the door in. When her husband, Jerold, sees her he meekly asks why she's home. The angered woman tells him to shut up before opening fire. A woman is heard screaming, confirmed to be the other woman when the teacher insults her. In the classroom, the dunce cap boy cowers when he hears the chainsaw and blood splatters the screen.
"Oh, god! What have you done?! She had a family!" Jerold responds, horrified.
"We could have had a family!" Mrs. Mayberry sobs as she kills her husband. Regaining her sanity, she wipes the blood off the screen and looks at her frightened class. "Oh, dear God. What have I done...?! In front of you all!" Unable to forgive herself, she makes a decision. "I'm so sorry, my children! Don't forget to work on your times tables!" Another gunshot is heard as the children collapse on the floor.
"You do everything right, play by all the rules... and still get sent down here with all the Hitlers,Epsteins, and Wuornosof the world!" The narrator, revealed to be Mrs. Mayberry, monologues her backstory how she ended up in Hell and why she's at IMP. "After one measly massacre propelled by blind rage. So, that's why I'm here. To get my revenge."
The former teacher is revealed in her new Sinner body with purple skin, hoof feet, red eyes, frontal horns, a tail not too dissimilar to Lincoln's. Blitz stares at the woman, sitting at his desk, bored.
"I mean, was she hotter?" The company boss asked, angering the client. He then goes into a rant how it sounds like she already got her revenge. "Let's be honest, they are all probably down here in Hell with you."
"Not all of them. A little while ago, I learned that WHORE survived! And now, they all call her a hero!"
A montage of what happened after the teacher's death plays. In a hospital bed, a heavily bandaged blonde woman is recovering with her husband and children at her bedside, in a room filled with colorful bouquets of flowers. A reporter questions the blonde woman's experience, and the injured woman feigns sympathy right before awarded a check for two million dollars. The woman, now healed, stands with her family in front of a house by a lake.
"Between all the talk shows and donations, she made so much goddamn cash... getting shot was the best thing to happen to her!" Mrs. Mayberry ranted.
The montage returns to the blonde woman standing at a podium answering questions from reporters. She is praised as a "hero" at interviews, while jogging, by her beaver-skin cap wearing son at the grocery store, during sex with her husband, by an old priest at church, by Mrs. Mayberry's former students who are now in a class called "How to deal with trauma 101", even during an affair she has in her marital bed.
"SHE IS NOT A HERO!" Mrs. Mayberry shouts.
Terrified, Blitz gives empty agreements while pushing a button under his desk to call for help from Loona.
Doing target practice in the office waiting room, Moxxie is pointing a crossbow at a picture of a smiling family that Loona is holding up from the couch. He has a clear aim of the father, but finds it too difficult to pull the trigger.
"Moxxie, stop shakin'!" Millie tries to get her husband to man up. "You're gonna shoot our only hellhound."
Despite being given the same regard as a house pet, Loona responded sarcastically. "Wow, I feel so loved here." Her voice was deadpan.
"Just keep takin' deep breaths..." She inhales. "And let it out!"
Moxxie still felt conflicted. "But, Mills... it's a family. Under what circumstances would we ever need to kill a human family? I mean, a shitty dad, or a mob family is one thing. But to eradicate an entire innocent—seemingly, in this instance—upper middle class family bloodline?"
The hellhound takes a look at the picture, and thinks for a moment. "Hey! You don't know they're innocent! Sonny here probably sets dogs on fire; maybe this girl gets off to bullying Australian kids online, and Dad... This guy definitelywatches."
"Exactly!" Millie agrees. "Humans are full of secret nasties. It's why so many end up here." She calls out to Lincoln, hiding in the breakroom. "Am I right, Lincoln!?"
"People like Stillman?! 100%!" He yelled back. "Humans in general? More like 50/50!"
"But-" Moxxie tried to question, but his wife stopped him.
"Guilty and innocent aren't our business, Mox." The female imp cups his cheeks and shakes him. "Killin' who we're paid to killis our business."
"I'm kinda surprised you're so chill with this, Link!" Loona calls out. "I figured you'd have a harder time doing this."
"I may be... I don't know, half your age? I'm younger, but I've seen just what kind of actions humans can be capable of!" He responded, a little pain in his voice. "But, Moxxie, I do agree with you! We could be more, I don't know, selective in who we target!?"
Blitz barges into the room, Mrs. Mayberry following. "Guys! I want you to meet-" His introduction startled his employee enough to cause Moxxie to accidently fire the crossbow. The arrow would have done a lot of damage if Lincoln didn't catch it with his magic before it hit the computer. "Dammit, Moxxie! You trying to kill one of us!?" Blitz lost his temper for a moment before addressing the boy. "Good catch, Kid! Why don't you come out and show our newest client your spiffy new uniform!?"
"No! You bought this just so you could get a laugh, Blitz!" Lincoln argued.
"Not true!" The boss argued. "I bought it to make sure you had a uniform... and to get a laugh!"
"Come on, Sweetie." Millie said from the other side of the door. "I promise nobody will laugh at you."
Lincoln inhaled from the other room, then joined the rest of the team with his knife still fastened to his left thigh. Blitz wanted to get something that would start conversation, so he got the funniest uniform he could find for the boy. Walking out the breakroom revealed the demon Lincoln wearing a Japanese schoolboy gakuran. The uniform was pitch black and neatly worn; the lining was a similar white to the boy's skin; the five jacket buttons were colored red and had the IMP logo on them. His new shoes were leather loafers, just as black as the uniform. The piece-de-resistance was the cap; a student's gakuran cap the same collar as the rest of the outfit, and with an IMP logo button in the center above the brim, along with two white devil horns on the crown the exact same color of while as Lincoln's body . Yes, the reason Blitz chose this specific outfit and paid so much to customize it, was to make the boy look like human's anime character.
"I feel ridiculous." Lincoln groaned. "And trust me, I've worn outfits that made me look ridiculous before, but this is on another level."
Fighting the urge, both Blitz and Loona burst out laughing. "It cost me an arm and a dick, but it was worth it!" The employer fell to his knee. "You look like you should be doing stupid dances in a cartoon!" Loona agreed.
While those two laughed and Lincoln tried to stay calm, Moxxie gave him a supportive double thumps up. "Just think, you're look will catch targets off guard."
The boy weakly giggled. The boy and the rest of the room were unaware of how Millie and Mrs. Mayberry were responding. Although Lincoln was considered unusually cute for a demon, the sight of him his outfit made him impossibly cute. Millie restrained herself from cuddling the adorable creature like a stuffed animal; while Mrs. Mayberry was grinding her teeth to fight her urge to pet him like a helpless animal.
Fight it, fight it, fight it!They both thought.
"Don't worry about the job!" Blitz assured Mrs. Mayberry as she got in the taxi outside the building. "You're dealing with primo grade killers!" Waving as she's driven away, the boss addresses his team. "Okay, some tell me they got the fancy book!"
"You mean our only ticket to the other side?" Loona holds up the grimoire. "Right here."
"And that's why you're my favorite, Loony. Who want's a treat?" Blitz holds up a dog treat while using baby talk.
While the imp and hellhound talk, Lincoln is drawing the pentagram on the building wall. Watching him draw, Moxxie sees that the boy hand is shaking as he uses the chalk.
"Are your hands alright, Lincoln?" The gun expert asks.
"I'll be fine. Just a little... weaker than I usually am." It was true; Lincoln had been awake for two days straight and has used his blood numerous times.
Despite the Sinner boy's dismissal, Moxxie understood there was a lot going on the adult doesn't know. "Here, wear these." Moxxie generously removed his own gloves and handed them to the boy, Millie going misty eyed as the boy accepted with a smile.
Lincoln put the gloves on and performed the spell, opening a portal to the human world. "This should get us where we need to go."
"Wonderful, Assistant!" Blitz mildly disregarded Lincoln's role on the team. "Remember, no matter what happens... you still gotta keep out job a secret." The devil-tailed boy raised a confused brow while Moxxie looked away, sullen at what his boss meant. "Now, let's go lick some ass!"
"The expresison is 'kick some ass', Blitz." Millie corrects as she walks through the portal.
"Mine's better!" He argues, following her. "Move it, Mox!"
The shorter male imp took a look at Lincoln, the boy a little hesitant. "Don't worry, you'll be fine." He tried to ease the boy.
The newest member took a deep breath and closed his eyes then jumped into the portal as it closed. Alone, Loona went back to the office.
The boy opened his eyes and found himself with IMP outside the fence defining the perimeter of a red house. It was sunset, and the house was on the shore of a lake. Although he didn't know were in the world he was, Lincoln was sure they were somewhere in the southern United States.
"Oh, Lincoln, you're alive." Blitz commented.
Startled, Lincoln checked himself and found his hands returned to how the used to be. He felt his head and saw that his features changed as well; and his tail had vanished. "I'm back... I'm back!" Ecstatic, he jumped as high as he could in the air, then crash landed on the ground.
Laughing, Blitz helps the now human Lincoln to his feet while the boy is confused. "I tell ya, Newbie, it is never a dull moment with you! Didn't think Sinners could leave Pride."
"How could this... wait?" Lincoln face the imp and the rest of the team. "You guys knew Sinners couldn't go to earth." Furious at the deception, the boy snapped. "You were just going to leave me behind!"
Once the boy lost his temper, he reverted to his Sinner appearance. Looking down, Lincoln saw it was so; to calm down , he took deep breaths, then returned to be before. "I'm... a human? If so, then..." He took out his knife and pricked his finger, his blood was now dripping red
"Crazy." Millie commented. "Don't let it get you down, Sugarcube. Now it's just easier to fit in up here."
Willing himself, Lincoln returned to his devil-like form and then his blood began dripping black. "It's never easy, is it?"
Resuming to why they came to Earth, IMP sneak their way onto the target's property and hide in the bushes under the window.
"Okay, that's gotta be her." Blitz takes a peek through the window first to confirm, darkly chuckling. "This'll be too easy. Moxxie, you want this?"
"Me, Sir?" The imp was pleasantly surprised.
"Yeah, this should be simple enough." The boss explained as Moxxie and Lincoln raised their heads to get quick look; although the boy didn't get a long peek, he could see two children sitting at the dinner table with their father while their mother lays a covered tray down, nuzzling noses with her husband.
"No?" Blitz observed his employee's hesitation. "Suit yourself, more for me!"
"Wait, Blitz." Lincoln grabs the man's arm. "Are sure the money is worth this? I mean, killing a family?"
"Don't be stupid, Kid. We're killing amother." He clarified. "We're just ruining a family." Causing both his employees to recall a similar explanation with the Stillman mission.
Poised to shoot, Blitz gets the doe-eyed white in his sights. Just as he was about to shoot, Moxxie ruined his shot by pushing the imp's arm. From inside the house, the family responds to the gun shot.
"What was that, Ralphie?" The target gasped in fear.
"I dunno, Martha." The husband shakes his head. "But, whatever it is... they're gonna be tomorrow night'sdinner!" He grins darkly as he pulls out a rifle.
Martha pulls a shotgun, then finishes off a glass of wine before throwing the glass to the floor. "Alright, kids!Guns out!"
The son pulls out a revolver from his beaver hat while his sister pulls out a rifle. All the family now had evil grins filled with sharp teeth.
"Looks like we got some rabbits to catch, young'uns!" The patriarch gleefully declared as the family got ready for a hunt.
"What the FUCK, Moxxie!" Blitz berated his employee, but Lincoln stopped it when he noticed something unusual.
"Guys, wait! We just fired a gun, but I don't hear any running or screaming from inside."
On cue, a blast shoots through the wall and hits Blitz in the arm. Startled, Lincoln returns to his Sinner form and Blitz yells for the team to scatter. Millie ran off towards the lake while the boss and Lincoln fled the same way, thus leaving Moxxie alone. Another hole is blown in the wall, Martha and Ralphie leap out in chase; meanwhile, Moxxie is apprehended by one of the kids.
Millie makes it to the small dock on the lake, diving into the water to avoid Ralphie's fire.
"Where'd you go, little critter?!" Ralphie searched. "Ya can't hide long from me!"
Below the docks with her head above water, Millie carries a knife in her teeth. Getting the surprise on Ralphie, the imp woman breaks through the dock and confidently lands with blade in hand. The human goes at her with a glass bottle, but Millie dodges the first time. But when she tries to get a cut from above, she gets hit in the head with said bottle. The assassin tries to get up but collapses on the dock as Ralphie smiles victoriously.
Dashing through the woods in effort to escape the homicidal Martha, the IMP founder and his new employee hear her maniac laughter as she fires her rifle. Pulling the imp into a hiding spot down hill, Lincoln and Blitz catch their breathes. Link kept the imp's mouth covered to hide from Martha, and once he was sure she had gone elsewhere, he took his hand off. Seeing the blood loss, the boy lifts his jacket to tare of a strip of his undershirt to bandage the wound.
"Shit, this whole fuckin' mission couldn't have gone worse!" Blitz ranted.
"Okay, I was little hesitant about killing her before, but it's pretty obvious now that this is a family of nutjobs." Lincoln rationalized, he went for his knife. "I may be able... no, I would have to get past her gun and I don't have the type of range."
Lincoln held his head, then got an idea when he felt his hat. Taking the student cap off and biting into his finger, the boy spread his black blood on the interior.
"Kid, how the fuck will this help?" Blitz asked.
"If I'm right..." The hat glowed until it finished transforming; sans the red turning reddish-orange, it looked no different from before. "I can rely on my magic."
Back at the Hazbin Hotel, everyone was eating dinner when a small portal opened over the table and a hand came through. It dove into Niffty's plate as the little cyclops looked at it, deeply amazed. A moment later, it went back into the portal and it vanished, leaving everyone perplexed.
"What the FUCK just happened!?" Husk asked for everyone. "Angel, did you lace the food!?"
Wiping off his hand, Lincoln was thankful yet annoyed.
"What the FUCK just happened!?" Blitz asked the time.
"Classic magic trick. I reached into the hat to pull out what I needed, but I think I need a little practice-"
Bang
A bullet nearly hit the two, meaning it was now time to continue running. "YOU BETTER START PRACTICING!" An angry Blitz yelled.
Running for his life, the boy kept putting his hand in his hat, only grabbing air around the Hazbin Hotel. "COME ON!" He tried to focus. "Give me what I need!" Putting his hand in one more time before they ducked behind a tree; this time, he pulled out two of his chess pieces. "Pawns?"
Seeing the disappointing result, Blitz paused before screaming. "IS THAT ALL THERE IS!?" Holding his wound, he made a hard decision. "Listen, she's following my trail! That means while she's busy with me, you run!"
This was a surprising line to Lincoln. "What?" He tried to get closure, but the bleeding imp pushed him away, causing the chess pieces to fall.
"GO HOME! Go back to your old life, or at least some resemblance of it!" He picked up one of the pieces and squeezed it in his hand. "Might bring me luck." Blitz ran off, yelling to Martha. "HEY, BITCH! YOU WANT SOME OF THIS HOT IMP DICK!"
Listening to the older assassin, Lincoln ran off in the opposite direction. While he ran couldn't fight the voice in the back of his head telling him to go back. If he did, he'd probably be killed again; he doesn't, he'd escape and live with the fact he let three people die to save himself.
Paused in the woods, he took a really deep breath and exhaled. "I must be crazy."
Blitz continues running through the wilderness as he hears Martha's twisted laughter. He accidently tumbled down a hill, but managed to catch his breath.
"I know you're hurtin', little devil!" Martha mocked from a distance. "What? Did ya friend up and leave you all alone?"
He takes deep, rapid breathes while leaning against a tree. Shocked, he catches Martha's silhouette walking through the woods.
"I promise, that I can make that pain go real quick!" The woman tried to lower his guard with empty promises. "Just come let Mama Martha put a bulletin your pretty little skull!"
When he thought she might have left, Blitz let out a sigh of relief but was then startled by a sudden phone call. He looked to the screen and saw it was from Stolas. "Dammit." He answers. "Stolas, this couldn't be a worse time!"
On the other end of the call, Prince Stolas is reveled to be relaxing in his private bathtub. The candles surrounding the tub are lit with blue flames; and the curtains contained glowing constellations that floated around the room.
"Oh~, when isn't it a bad time, Blitzy?" Speaking on an old rotary phone, Stolas cooed.
"What is it!?" Blitz looked around for Martha.
"Well, given the littleincident with the young boy and my grimoire. I fell we should discuss our arrangement."
Over their phone conversation, Stolas flirtatiously explained that he would give Blitz free use of the book for most of the month, on the condition he brings it back to the Prince so Stolas can perform his royal duties on the night of the full moon. That, as well as a night of 'passionate fornication, as Stolas puts it. In no mood for talking and not wanting to risk losing their way up to Earth, Blitz agrees. While Stolas goes into a graphic monologue of what they'll do the next full moon. During the call, the injured imp is pinned to a tree by the butt of Martha's gun.
"Gotcha! So, you're a little devil, huh? Come to drag me and my kin to Hell? Well...NOT TODAY, SATAN!" Martha bragged, then caught sight of something at her foot. "Oh, what do we have here, chess?" She picked up the pawn and pocketed it. "Hope you had some fun. Now, we're gonna send y'all back where ya came from!"
Elsewhere, Moxxie regains consciousness, then gasps in shock to learn he's tied up. Right across the table he's seated at, he sees the two kids. "Oh! Well, hello there, little ones. Aren't you cute?" He tries to placate.
Horrifying the imp, the two kids speak inalmost unison. "It's nice to have a new critter to play with."
Moxxie looks around and finds the room he's being contained in is decorated completely with furniture made of human remains. From the wall decorations to the chair, and even a human corpse made up like a Thanksgiving turkey.
"Oh, crumbs." He weakly speaks.
Outside the house, Lincoln jumps through the large hole. Getting a longer look, he could see just how morbid it was inside. "MOXXIE! ARE YOU HERE!?"
"LINCOLN! HELP!" The imp's voice came from upstairs.
Rushing up the stairs, the boy bursts the door down. "Moxxie, I'm here..." He sees the terrifying décor. "And they say myfamily has issues!"
"Lincoln!" Moxxie called out, the two kids surrounding him.
Taking the first action, Lincoln pulled up the table cloth as a distraction. Then, while they were confused, pulled out his recovered yoyo and used it to tie-up the son with a spin. The daughter then went after him with a knife. He tries to hold her off but she was strong.
"Sorry in advance." To get the advantage, he steps on her toes; then kicks the knife away when she grabs her foot. To free Moxxie, Lincoln pulled out his knife and threw it passed the imp, cutting the rope as it brushed past. "Hurry! Go to the others!"
Moxxie wanted to argue, but trusted the boy and burst through the window holding his gun.
"Alright." Lincoln kicked the door closed behind him as the other two got ready. "It's playtime."
A full moon appears through the clouds overhead as Millie and Blitz are tied to a giant stake. Martha's husband laughs menacingly as he pours gasoline over them. Although they try to struggle free, the two demons can't find a way loose. Pissed off, Blitz laments his missed shot.
"I had a fucking shot." He signs. "If we get out of this, I'm charging that bitch teacher double."
Taking the lead of the ceremony, Martha has changed into a pair of animal skull earrings with a torch in hand. "Satan! We return yourFILTHYcreatures back to the pits of Hell!" She sings praise. "May the root of evil remain honored as we continue thyWORK!"
The crazed woman tosses the torch to the demons' feet. She laughs twistedly as the two go up in flames. Thankfully, although they're completely on fire, the two are unharmed.
"Yeah, that's not exactly how it works, Lady." Blitz disregards Martha's efforts while Millie giggles. "Sorry, your fire doesn't really hurt us. I mean, I could fake it if that'll get your dick hard."
"Oh, damn." She rolls her eyes. "Guess I'll just have to shoot you in your smartass mouth!" She pulls out her rifle.
Millie and Blitz stare at her for a moment. "That may work." Blitz calmly stated.
Laughing sadistically, Martha aims at the imps. Both the assassins close their eyes, flinching in anticipation for the end. A shot was fired, but then the imps opened their eyes, they saw Martha's right come out it's socket and she falls to the ground. Moxxie is then shown with his gun smoking.
"Moxxie!" Millie cheers as her husband runs to untie them.
"About time you got here, Mox." Blitz wasn't so thankful. "Just for this, I've decided to only dock you half your paycheck."
Realizing that the demons were now free and his wife was shot dead, Ralphie trips backwards trying to escape. The human man ran back to the house to check on his children. After Moxxie got her down, Millie wondered with the final member of their team was.
"Where's Lincoln?" Millie looked around. "I thought he was with you, Blitz."
"The kid? Don't hold your breath, I told him to hit the road." The taller imp downplayed the truth. "He was slowing us down anyway. Best he gets back to his old life."
"Sir, Lincoln freed me." Moxxie corrected. "He came to get me out that house... THE HOUSE!" Moxxie recalled how he left. "He's still back there! You two get the headquarters and get Blitz's wound looked at, I'm going to get him!" The imp ran back.
"Moxxie!" Millie called after, but Blitz stopped her.
"It's fine, Millie." The boss looked towards the house. "Those two alone are more than enough."
While the determined imp was running through the woods, he passed by his boss' phone while Stolas was still giving a graphic description. The other two hellborns left to the high ground to get a better look at the house. Yet, nobody noticed something happening at Martha's body. Inside her pocket, the chess piece she pocketed was now glowing.
The playdate Lincoln was having with the two kids was not going well. He couldn't get back to his weapon because the brother and sister wouldn't give him a chance to slip away. He couldn't even focus on using magic because of the chaos; and he didn't try to use his blood in case it could make them more dangerous.
"Stop moving, devil boy!" The daughter yelled, trying to stab Lincoln's eye out while her brother went at Link with a plate.
"Why would I?" Lincoln countered. "It's keeping me alive." Using his tail trips the boy and wrestles his sister to the ground.
Rubbing his head, the brother sees Lincoln's knife and grabs it. The demon boy on top, the brother tries to jump him from the table. At the moment of altitude, the kids wrestling switch positions; Lincoln sees the brother above as his sister was about to stab him. It was clear that the boy above would hurt his sister by accident. Although they were trying to kill him, Lincoln understands the pain of hurting a family member.
"AWWW!" Taking the blade with his barehand, Lincoln pushes the sister off in time for them to dodge the brother's attack. Finding a way to stand, Lincoln grips his injured hand's wrist. "This is not going as plan."
Seeing an opportunity, the brother throws the knife at Lincoln but he dodges and picks up the yoyo he used before. Only now, it was broken with the pieces tangled in the string. Desperate, a plan, more like a prayer, crossed Lincoln's mind and clenched the objects in his hands together. Blinding orange light came over the room; when it died out, the gloves on Lincoln's hands were now had fingers but the tips were metal covered like Alastor's, the wrists hand two circles attached like the halves of a yoyo, and they were colored pure white with reddish-orange accents.
"You surprised?" Lincoln smiled at their mystified expressions. "I know, it's a lot to take in." Acting on instinct, he struck the ground with both fists, rattling the room.
Downstairs, Ralphie had burst through the front door looking for his kids. "Julie! Dashiell!" He called their names; then a thundering came from above. "What the...?"
The top floor gave out and the three children fell to the bottom. When the dust settled, Lincoln got to his feet in a daze. "Note to self: Never do that again." He caught sight of the target's husband as the other kids and got to their feet. "So, I think we should talk about this."
"GET 'EM!" Ralphie called, him and his kids picking up guns and aiming them at Lincoln.
"Excuse me." From his side, Jane Doe appeared. "This may be a bad time, but I know a way to help out." She observed the killers getting ready to shoot. "Say, 'Danjon Link'."
In no position to ask questions, Lincoln obeyed. "DUNJON LINK!" The moment he said the words, the world went grey and then book that became his knife levitated in front of the boy. The sclera of the eye in the hilt turned black while the pupil expands. Energy began radiating from the eye in the form of orange wind that surrounded Lincoln like a tornado. The air intensified until the boy was left in sudden, impenetrable darkness.
A little time passed and Lincoln found himself in cold dark place. The knife had fell to the ground and he picked it up. A second later, torches began to light around the boy, giving him a view of where he was. It was like a forest, but at the far edge was giant, brick walls. Right now, Lincoln was standing on a dirt road in the forest that the torches illuminated on both sides.
"Where am I?" He stared into the distance, amazed and afraid.
"You like it?" Jane Doe spoke, feeling a tree.
"Jane? Where are we?" Link thought back. "Wait, you knew this was going to HAPPEN!"
"Okay, okay, calm down." She spoke. "I knew you were about to get shot, and it was a 50/50 chance you'd be killed for good."
Lincoln turned to the audience. "Just when I thought things couldn't get weirder."
Jane Done did the same. "You take a break. We're going to be talking for a bit." She covered the side of her mouth to whisper. "And I don't want to give away any spoilers."
