It was clear as day that Hector had been infected!!!
Without a moment's hesitation, Brian sprang to his feet and ran outside!
Behind him, Hector's flapping motions, slow at first, picked up speed and rapidly spiraled out of control. Like a madman breaking the CD, he grabbed anything within reach, batting at himself, as if he were covered in crawling insects...
When Brian reached the deck, his ears and nose twitched in unison, his already grim expression turning even uglier.
Dead!
Hector was dead!
Brian heard the sound of Hector falling to the ground, heard his heartbeat stop, and through his senses, even felt the process of Hector's Biological Field slowly fading away—as if the man had died right in front of him.
The man was really dead!
He died right in front of Brian, succumbing to that bizarre contagion.
