Chapter 336 - Chapter 336: Darkness Below

"Shin, Clark, Diana, Arthur, hurry up! Another group of parademons is coming out!"

At that moment, Batman's anxious voice came through the earpieces of everyone on the battlefield.

These earpieces were a piece of advanced technology developed by Batman and Superman. Once placed in the ear, they would automatically adhere to the cochlea, ensuring seamless communication even amidst supersonic battles. When speaking, they directly vibrate the ear bones, allowing clear transmission of messages.

The Flash and Batman had been dealing with the flying parademons in the sky while also trying to locate the Mother Box and Cyborg within the city.

Though the Flash lacked powerful offensive abilities, his immense speed made him untouchable. Previously, he had rescued countless civilians in Metropolis, making him the ideal scout for finding the Mother Box and Cyborg.

However, even with his speed, he could only pinpoint an approximate location—there were simply too many parademons. The sky and earth were swarming with them, leaving no gaps for him to infiltrate.

In the comics, the Flash could convert speed into kinetic energy through the Speed Force, allowing his punches to rival Superman's. However, this required him to build up enough momentum beforehand, unlike Superman, who could strike with full force at any moment.

This version of the Flash, who more closely followed his movie counterpart, lacked that ability. While his Speed Force still gave him great destructive power, he couldn't fully utilize his speed in combat. If he were ever surrounded by a horde of demons, losing room to maneuver, he would be in serious trouble.

As for Batman, he wasn't foolish enough to engage in direct combat against the demons. Even with his peak human conditioning and a high-tech Bat Suit, he would be lucky to handle a dozen or so demons. On a battlefield of this scale, he would be torn apart in moments.

If he was unlucky, it would be like his battle against Doomsday—where he was nearly killed by the mere shockwaves of the fight between the heavy hitters.

Instead, Batman remained in his Batplane, engaging the demons from the air while monitoring the battlefield. He never once set foot on the ground.

Somehow, he had managed to convince Superman to modify his Batplane with Kryptonian technology, drastically enhancing its firepower, defenses, and maneuverability. Against regular demons, it was more than sufficient.

Of course, no matter how advanced the Batplane was, it could only handle low-level threats. Once its ammunition was depleted, it would be useless. Batman's primary mission remained to locate Cyborg and the boom tube alongside the Flash.

Eventually, when they finally narrowed down the location of the portal, they were met with a horrifying sight—an endless wave of parademons pouring out from underground, as if someone had kicked open a hornet's nest.

The Mother Box and the portal had been placed underground the entire time, likely within a hidden base. That explained why Batman and the Flash had struggled to find it.

Amid the battle, Shin saw the situation and quickly activated his Kamui ability, retreating from his fight with Steppenwolf.

"Leave these parademons to me!" he declared.

The superheroes had been efficient at fighting, but they primarily relied on close combat. None of them possessed large-scale area attacks.

Superman, who had the greatest potential for mass destruction, was constantly hindered by Kryptonite-bearing demons. Instead of unleashing his full strength, he was forced to evade relentlessly. If not for this, he could have cleared the battlefield in seconds by simply flying through the sky at high speed.

"Aquaman and I will hold this guy back! Shin, go deal with those demons!" Wonder Woman shouted.

However, Shin didn't respond—he couldn't even hear her through the earpiece.

Though the earpieces were advanced Kryptonian technology, they weren't capable of penetrating space. Shin had been using Kamui constantly, rendering him unable to receive their transmissions.

Wonder Woman called out twice more before realizing the issue, resorting to simply shouting his name.

Kamui's properties were rather peculiar—it blocked electromagnetic waves, but not sound waves. Shin could still hear battlefield noises, just not radio communications.

[T/N: Is this why Obito can still trash talk while intangible?]

Upon hearing her, Shin wasted no time. While Wonder Woman and Aquaman weren't strong enough to defeat Steppenwolf outright, Wonder Woman's Mythical Phoenix Fruit granted her near-immortality. The fight could drag on indefinitely.

Though the devil fruit didn't significantly enhance her already immense physical abilities, its regenerative properties made her nearly unkillable.

With that assurance, Shin instantly shifted his focus toward the swarm of demons.

"Bruce, Barry, get out of the way. I'm about to launch a large-scale attack!"

Batman didn't argue. He immediately pulled the Batplane's joystick, steering the aircraft away from Metropolis, while the Flash vanished in an instant.

"Black Hole - Planetary Devastation!"

Since the enemy was underground, he would simply dig them all out.

The immense gravitational pull of the technique tore countless demons from the sky, while the entire city trembled under its force. Given Shin's current chakra reserves—far surpassing Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's—he could have created an actual satellite if he had gone all out.

Though he held back slightly, half of Metropolis still fell within the gravitational pull of the attack.

Superheroes like Wonder Woman and Superman, with their flight capabilities and immense durability, remained unaffected. Aquaman, on the other hand, struggled slightly due to his inability to anchor himself properly. However, the attack wouldn't seriously harm him.

The parademons, however, weren't as lucky.

Many were torn apart by the sheer gravitational force. Others were crushed under massive chunks of debris, and those that remained were rapidly consumed by the dark energy of the Dark-Dark Fruit.

A wave of black mist spread through the battlefield, erasing any demon it touched. At the same time, the entire city quaked, revealing a terrifying cavern beneath.

Metropolis' underground sewer system had been almost entirely transformed. From above, it resembled a vast network of ant tunnels, with demons pouring out in endless waves.

Even with Superman's enhanced vision, he could see factories deep below where humans—primarily the homeless—were being thrown into grotesque machines and forcibly transformed into demons.

"This is insane," Superman muttered, his eyes burning with barely restrained fury.

"Are the politicians in America a bunch of complete idiots?" Shin scoffed. "The entire underground has been hollowed out, and no one noticed? They even let these guys set up a full-scale demon conversion factory?"

"So many homeless people have gone missing, and the government didn't suspect a thing? Even after receiving a warning?" Shin shook his head in disbelief.
