Hannah came back with a smile and suddenly saw her mom's red face. "What happened, Mom? Why is your face so red?" Her thoughts raced as she looked at me. [Did they do something behind my back? These two won't let any opportunity go... What can I do with them?]
I saw Julie was in panic being caught by her daughter like that, so I helped her and said, looking at Hannah, I smiled at Hannah, trying to ease her concerns. "Nothing happened, Hannah. Your mom was just a bit warm, that's all. We were just talking about the day ahead."
Julie, trying to distract Hannah, asked, "Did Haruna agree?"
Hannah nodded. "Yeah, I asked her to come to our house, and then we can go out together."
Julie nodded and said, "Okay, so let's get ready." We had all finished our breakfast, and Julie and Hannah went to their rooms to get ready.
I was waiting for them outside in the living room, my thoughts a mix of anticipation and reflection.
