'Charge'
Leul activates his Charge Skill, releasing a silver light aura that engulfs his legs. The aura boosts his speed and strength, allowing him to weave through the chaos of the battlefield.
'Orion Claws'
Next, he uses Orion Claws, imbuing his hands with the same silver aura, which now forms claw-like shapes. He targets a Rank D Werewolf directly ahead.
Leul might possess one of the highest Link Force levels among the players in the Boss Raid—even higher than SilverPup's current 35 percent. However, as a RAIDS ONLINE player, he's still a newbie. That's why he chooses to fight only Rank D Ragnarok Beasts—the kind he'd already encountered in the tutorial with Selene.
—ROOAAARRRRR!—
The Werewolf spots Leul and charges forward to intercept him.
Rank D Ragnarok Beasts like Werewolves, Weretigers, and Werebears retain humanoid forms, making their combat style similar to that of Half-Beast players. They're versatile, with high vitality and balanced strength and speed. But Leul is already familiar with their patterns. He's fought dozens of them before and memorized their timing and attack behaviors.
Leul and the Werewolf clash. The beast tries to pin him down with both arms, but Leul anticipates the move, intercepting and stopping its hands mid-attack.
As they grapple, pushing against one another in a contest of strength, the Werewolf opens its massive jaws to bite Leul's head off. But Leul is faster—and already prepared for this exact scenario.
'Orion Fangs'
Activating Orion Fangs, the silver light around his body morphs into the form of a massive wolf's head. It lunges forward, biting the Werewolf's head and devouring the dark aura that leaks from its body.
The lifeless Rank D Werewolf collapses to the ground. Without pause, Leul moves on, seeking more Rank D Ragnarok Beasts to defeat and devour.
He challenges Werewolves in strength, outruns Weretigers in speed, and ambushes Werebears to whittle down their vitality. But amidst the battle, something begins to change. He's not losing control—but he's no longer thinking like a player. He's moving on instinct.
Not as a gamer.
But as a Devour Beast.
A wolf-like creature—the reincarnation of the Moonlight Beast, Orion—that now stirs within his avatar, Lucent.
Leul continues to fight fearlessly, consumed by the thrill of devouring enemy after enemy… until something suddenly stops him and sends him crashing to the ground.
An attack came from above—swift, invisible, like a gust of wind that obliterates everything in its path. In the next moment, a new Ragnarok Beast appears—not just in front of Leul, but across the entire battlefield.
It's a creature out of fantasy novels and anime: the body and head of a rooster, wings of a wyvern, and a snake for a tail. A six-meter-tall, chimera-type Ragnarok Beast: the Rank C Basilisk.
[Rank C Ragnarok Beast: Basilisk]
With his current 37 percent Link Force, Leul might be able to defeat and devour it—but only if he were a skilled player, not a noob.
The Basilisk dominates the field with terrifying agility, striking from the air using its wyvern wings and unleashing rapid, unpredictable attacks from both its rooster head and snake tail. With almost no blind spots and a venomous bite from its snake tail that can petrify its target, it's a nightmare opponent.
'Charge'
Leul activates Charge again, trying to escape the Basilisk's range. But with a single flap of its wings, the beast closes the distance instantly.
It attacks with its beak, then its talons. Leul dodges, anticipating how a bird-like beast would strike. But the third attack—the snap of the snake tail—comes too fast.
'Orion Claws'
With no other choice, Leul activates Orion Claws mid-air. His hands glow as he catches the serpent's massive head. Its jaws are large enough to bite through his torso, yet Leul holds it back by the jaws with his empowered arms.
But the next move is something he didn't see coming.
While Leul grips the snake's mouth, the tail lifts him into the air—then, like a whip, it slams him into the ground.
The impact creates a crater, leaving Leul barely able to move.
Groaning in pain, he struggles to stand as the Basilisk stalks toward him. Its talons and beak ready the killing blow.
Just as its twin heads glare down at Leul—
A flash of light descends from above.
The Basilisk's only blind spot—its back—is struck by a sudden attack. The beast screeches as light engulfs it, disintegrating its body and consuming the dark aura spilling from it.
When the light fades, a hooded figure stands over Leul.
Clad in a tattered robe that hides their face and entire body, the identity of his savior remains a mystery. Luel can't discern their gender or expression—but one detail stands out clearly.
A pair of blue wings, spread wide in radiant defiance, belonging to the only Devour Beast Class that can soar freely through the sky:
The Vermilion Beast, Aurora.
