Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Yugito, Pfft, Pfft

For instance, the Genjutsu: Hazy Mirage Technique can make the victim believe they're seeing something entirely different from reality. This illusion can be cast over a wide area, ensnaring multiple targets in a shared hallucination, causing them to mistake one place for another.

It manipulates their vision, blurring the line between illusion and reality.

But it can go further—altering the victim's sense of touch.

Yugito Nii wasn't particularly skilled in genjutsu. The moment Shimizu Uchiha ensnared her in his illusion, her body trembled violently.

Her eyes lost focus, pupils dilating, devoid of their usual spark, glassy and dim.

Pfft~

Pfft~

Under the genjutsu's grip, Yugito unleashed a Water Release technique, pouring a fresh stream into the stagnant pool within her mental landscape.

Ripples spread outward in concentric circles.

Her body tensed, as though enduring excruciating pain.

A faint flush crept across her pale cheeks, and her unfocused eyes rolled back.

She collapsed with a thud, water still flowing endlessly around her, indistinguishable from her Water Release or the tide already present.

Matatabi roared furiously, charging toward her.

Shimizu admired his handiwork for a moment.

The Sharingan's genjutsu wouldn't last long—Matatabi's arrival would break it.

The tailed beast's immense chakra could easily dispel the illusion afflicting Yugito.

But even a single second of this genjutsu was enough to sear itself into Yugito's memory for a lifetime.

Shimizu was confident. After all, this was a sensation Yugito would never experience again, even until her death—a dream fulfilled, courtesy of him.

With that, he withdrew from her mental space, returning to reality.

To the others, it seemed as though Yugito and Shimizu had frozen for just a moment.

Then, the tailed beast chakra Yugito had been gathering grew unstable, her body quivering faintly.

The anomaly drew everyone's attention, though the eerie blue flames cloaking the scene obscured any details. Outsiders could only sense the flames flickering, pulsing erratically.

"Aaahhh!"

A surge of tailed beast chakra erupted with a howl.

Namikaze Minato swiftly activated his Flying Thunder God Technique. With no time to grab Samui, he teleported the others to safety.

Shimizu and his team had Flying Thunder God seals pre-marked on their gear, but Samui didn't.

Thud.

Samui collapsed, unconscious, left behind.

In an instant, the vast forest clearing was one team short.

The Kumogakure ninjas exchanged glances, exasperated. The Flying Thunder God Technique was infuriatingly unfair.

They couldn't pursue—not when they had no idea where Minato's seals were hidden.

Thud.

Yugito dropped to one knee, barely steadying her trembling body. Her lips pressed tightly together, her eyes blazing with fury and hatred that could burn the world to ash.

That man… I'll kill him!

No one had ever dared treat her like this. This humiliation—she'd make him pay tenfold.

"Yo, Yugito, what's up with you?"

Killer B swaggered over, his movements exaggerated.

It looked like that Uchiha had hit her with a genjutsu, but she'd recovered in mere moments.

Was the illusion that terrifying?

She was still kneeling, catching her breath.

Killer B speculated silently.

He might act carefree, but he was sharp beneath the surface. Otherwise, he wouldn't have become the perfect jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails—a feat the previous jinchuriki, Burubi, never achieved in his lifetime.

"Shut up!"

Yugito shot him a glare, her brows knitted tightly, her entire presence radiating icy hostility.

"…"

Killer B sensed her mood was even more volatile than usual and decided against breaking into song.

Instead, he asked, "What about Samui? Should we keep chasing?"

"Chase… no. The Yellow Flash has probably already taken his team back to Konoha's camp. We're too far from there. They only came out to intercept us."

"If we rush after them, we'll likely walk into an ambush. The moment our assault team was spotted, this mission was already a failure."

Her calm analysis made sense to Killer B.

But Shimizu had killed too many of their comrades. They had to avenge them.

And Samui had nearly been taken—if Yugito hadn't acted quickly, Minato might've teleported her away too.

If Samui had been captured and taken to Konoha, who knows what fate awaited her.

"Let's head back to Big Bro and hear his strategy."

Killer B sheathed his twin blades into the cloth holster on his back, turning to the other Kumogakure ninjas to announce their retreat.

Once his back was turned and no one was watching, Yugito forced herself to muster strength, shifting from kneeling to sitting cross-legged on the ground.

"We're pulling out. Haven't rested enough yet?"

Killer B wanted to rap, but Yugito's frosty expression killed the vibe.

"No."

Her voice was ice.

Killer B inwardly grumbled that women were such a hassle. Yugito was usually proud, but now she exuded an unapproachable chill.

Big Bro was so much easier to deal with.

"You guys go ahead. I'll catch up. Once Samui wakes, I'll bring her back."

Yugito waved them off.

Killer B had no choice but to gather the fallen comrades' belongings and lead the other Kumogakure ninjas away.

Even if Yugito was low on stamina, she still had Matatabi's chakra.

Through rigorous training, she'd mastered control over the Two-Tails, wielding its power as skillfully as he did the Eight-Tails. Her safety wasn't a concern.

One minute later.

Only when the others were completely gone did Yugito rise.

Shimizu's genjutsu was masterful. In a mere instant, it had disrupted her chakra network.

That damned Uchiha…

Her rage was uncontainable.

The ground was stained with Kumogakure blood and other fluids.

All because of that wretched Uchiha, who'd nearly humiliated her in front of everyone.

In her fury, she unleashed a blazing blue fireball, blasting the area into a smoldering crater, obliterating all evidence.

"Hmph…"

Yugito clenched her fists, casting a venomous glance toward Konoha's camp.

Just you wait, Uchiha…

At the same time, several kilometers away in the forest.

Namikaze Minato, drenched in sweat, rested for a few minutes before regaining enough strength to speak.

They'd just endured a grueling battle, burning through chakra, and teleporting multiple people had nearly exhausted him.

"You all head back. I'll go deliver the intel."

Jiraiya spoke briefly before vanishing into the woods.

The clash with Kumogakure had delayed him, but with the situation resolved, the mission had to continue.

He didn't plan to bring Minato's team along. Shimizu had performed admirably, displaying formidable strength and eliminating numerous Kumogakure ninjas, proving his worth.

Alone, Jiraiya could deliver the classified intel faster.
