Boom—
As August drew to a close, a sudden explosion erupted in the riverside district.
The deafening sound startled not only the city's investigators and patrol officers but also ordinary casters and the citizens of Springs. They were jolted awake from their slumber by the shocking noise.
Scrambling out of bed, Ronald grabbed his coat and rushed to the balcony. The sound of the explosion seemed distant, and the tumult was clearly not something a street brawl between ordinary casters could produce.
From the balcony, Ronald immediately saw a wave of orange-red explosion lighting up the southwestern part of the city, even turning the pitch-black sky almost as bright as day.
Boom boom—
Suddenly, the weakening orange-red light burst forth once more, surpassing the previous explosion in sound and force. Countless red sparks, trailing curved tails, scattered around the southwestern areas of the city.
In the dark of night, a bloom symbolizing death and destruction was unfolding.
