Several leagues away, in an isolated lair whose walls oozed dark magic, Nox laughed. A low, slow, almost animal laugh.
"Everything... is going as planned..."
He walked over to a magic circle carved into the ground. His eyes shone with an unhealthy light.
"I never would have believed this residual fragment in Krull would have such an effect... But... it's not him I'm really interested in."
He raised his hand, projecting a spectral image of Aletha sleeping.
"You... You, you are the key."
He brushed his fingers over the image.
"You don't even know what you carry within you. This little seed of darkness I placed... This poison your body welcomes like an old memory of love..."
A cruel smile tugged at his lips.

He laughed again, louder, darker. The magic in the room vibrated, and Aletha's image vanished in a whisper.
