Chapter 43 - CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

I left Kaida with Silas and the archers and quickly mounted tyrant and rode down the hill to where my men currently stood, the barrier spell still held, separating Robert's soldiers from ours "Is everyone alright?" I asked, knowing the answer already amidst the dead bodies "No major casualties" Amenadiel answered. I walked further and came face to face with Robert and his banshee standing side by side, the woman's face held death and I could tell, I wasn't going to allow him hurt anyone else.

"Robert, we need to not meet like this anymore, or at all for that matter" he cocked his brow and smiled "you're still alive, the king will be most delighted," I couldn't focus on his words, only on how different he looked, he grew small beards and his hair was longer now, but despite all that, all I could think about was how much of a dick this man is. I looked at the banshee and recoiled at her stare "do you like my new friend?, she's quite powerful. Now why don't you lower this thing and let me finish my job"

I walked back to Amenadiel and the rest of them "Quickly gather the men and go up that hill and stay there" I ordered, but he didn't move, no one did "What are you going to do?" he questioned sharply, but I had no time for this, I needed to act quickly "I did not stutter Amenadiel, get everyone and go up that hill now!" he looked at me skeptically and nodded to Drazhan, Acrisius and Damon to gather the men and climb that bloody hill.

"Saving your friends however honorable, still won't spare them though, I'll find them and they'll all die" the rage that coursed through me was euphoric, a crazy thing for someone to say when they're about to throw a fit, but I can feel my rage empowering my magic and I'm about to use it to put these assholes in their place. "how about you stop talking and let's get this over with" I taunted, then opened my palms, lowering the barrier that separated us from each other.

"You're alone, unwise choice, this should be quick" I found his underestimation of me amusing, which meant that he had no idea the extent of my power, but he was about to find out. With the amount of power I was about to release he was going to be alone too. Robert and his men stepped back, and his banshee stepped forward, terrible mistake. I took several steps back as she stepped forward "I'm going to kill you" she croaked, so she talks "I'd love to see you try"

The banshee etched closer to me and my eyes drifted to her left leg, and just as she was about to release her cry, I flung an arm in her direction, the crack of her bone was a satisfying sound. Robert ran towards me but I flung my hand in his direction and he flew backward crashing into a tree, I smiled in satisfaction.

Despite the pain, the banshee still wanted to scream, at me at whatever she wanted to, all she wanted to do was destroy. I had half a mind to kill her, but as is my self imposed policy, death is too final, we have never seen a banshee before, and I would love to know more, and to do that… "Silencio" I muttered and her cry was swallowed up by my spell, she coughed, the sound labored and I could tell she struggled, I did just take away her primary form of attack, rendering her useless. I smiled at my achievement.

"What have you done?" She croaked, "my voice" I smiled innocently and looked her in the eyes, it was like looking into darkness itself, but this time I wasn't afraid, I rendered her useless "Somnus" I chanted, and with that she fell to the ground unconscious. Robert's men stood in fear at first, unable to move, but when they saw their commander on the ground, they roared and charged towards me, but I was ready. I took to note their size, and felt the ground shake beneath their feet as they all charged towards me.

With my arms wide open, I channeled my power and concentrated on the incoming army. I knew my policy about death, but these ones just had to go. I took a deep breath and concentrated, maybe the blast would take Robert with them "Ignis" I yelled. Fire exploded within their ranks, I watched in amazement as one by one they were blown to bits. I relished in every explosion, every scream and every body part that scattered. And when the explosion ceased, only a few hundred soldiers remained.

I charged, Chaos slicing through the air with deadly precision. The remaining soldiers, though a few hundred in number, were still a force. I could see the fear in their eyes, but they stood their ground, ready to fight to the death.

As I descended upon them, my sword bit deep into the first soldier's shoulder. He screamed, clutching at the wound as he fell. I spun, using my momentum to carry me into the next strike. Chaos sliced through the air, striking true time and again.

But there were too many of them, and soon I found myself surrounded. A soldier stabbed me in the side, the blade biting deep into my flesh. I gasped, pain lancing through me. I focused my energy, using my telekinesis to push the soldier away. He stumbled back, eyes wide with fear, as I turned my attention to the wound. It healed quickly, the flesh knitting itself back together in a matter of moments. I took a deep breath, feeling my strength return.

With renewed vigor, I charged back into the fray. Chaos sliced through the soldiers, cutting them down with deadly precision. My men quickly joined me, and together we made short work of the remaining soldiers.

As the dust settled, I surveyed the aftermath. Robert still lay alive and unconscious, even after all this ordeal, the little bastard refused to die. Silas found him and now stood guard over him. I nodded, a sense of satisfaction washing over me. I had plans for him, and the banshee, I nodded to Drazhan to get the creature and he obeyed without question.

This was far from over, but for now, we had won the day, and our home had been taken. We got Temeria back. I hadn't realized I'd been crying until I felt a tear roll down my cheeks.
