Naya's pov.
I was struggling to find my voice as I stuttered, swallowing the lump in my throat. I should have retreated when I had the chance instead of getting caught.
Yes she's the one Lucian responded devoid of emotions as though he was a different person from when we had spoken of that morning.
The grass Man who I assumed was the leader stopped up to me, his eyes searching my face while I remained mute wondering what was in store for me after being caught.
"You seem to have heard a considerable amount of information, who are you and what exactly do you want to do with such?" he demanded.
I shot my head from side to side taking in a deep breath, "my name is Naya Johnson, I'm not really anyone important," i tried diffusing the situation, "i was just passing by," my hands trembled and i locked them behind me, away from their view.
"That is not what I asked you, love, and we both know you weren't just passing by," my breathing increased as my little lie got me nowhere, I couldn't lie my way out of this and there was no one to help me either. I was on my own.
What could I possibly tell them? I could tell them that I was a scientist but what good was that going to do? I couldn't tell them where I came from and neither could I inform them of what happened to me.
That would only work if I knew what happened to me in the first place.
"I'm telling you the truth, I was just on my way to my tent," I stated once again.
I watched as his jaws ticked, he glared at me, his eyes barely blinking and I backed up away from him in fear.
This is more of an interrogation now, "no one sent me, like I said when I arrived, we were wandering and then stumbled upon your crew they were nice enough to take us in, this is all just a misunderstanding, me being here, and I apologize for that," I tried to mitigate the situation.
"I don't think we have much time if we want to get things done tonight we need to get moving," Lucian chipped in from the side. I signed in relief as he had shifted the attention away from me and prayed that the man interrogating me would let it drop.
"We would come back to this and you are not allowed to leave this base,"
Well that was going to be a problem for me, just before he took a step away from me I stopped him "I want to come with you," this was rather awkward, especially after i had declared not eavesdropping on their conversation.
He turned back slightly with a raised eyebrow.
"I want to come with you when you infiltrate the ascendant authority base," I repeated.
The man scoffed and chuckled. "I don't think you understand little girls. You are in no position to make demands,"
"Please, I know this isn't the best of situations, but I'm not a threat." They needed to believe me and I wanted them to. If I really wanted to accompany them, I would have to tell the truth but I don't trust them just yet.
"I could be of help!" I called as he tried to walk away, stopping him once again in his tracks.
"We are wasting time, if the girl wants to come let her come, if she dies on the way, at least we've gotten rid of her another traitor,"
Well I wasn't going to die but I thanked the female who had spoken up and studied the man's expression as he walked away without a word.
Let's go. The woman who spoke came out to me and dragged me by my hand after getting a change of clothes, we set out.
An excitement filled my heart despite the dangerous mission we were embarking on. The female had introduced herself as Riley. And she was the only woman that accompanied the group, I wondered why.
We arrived at the base and it was the military zone I had escaped from, I took in a deep breath as I braced myself. What would I find? A question that played in my thoughts.
My mission, different from theirs, was to find anything related to the explosion. I find it. I get out, easy, peazy, it's just easier said than done.
"You'll have known the plan," he barely glanced at me, immediately they split up and I was left with the man that had interrogated me, "for whatever reason you are here you're on your own," when he was gone.
When I realized I was on a timer I needed to be back here before they left and trailed silently sneaking into the base alone.
By The doors, reality hits me, "what in the world was I thinking? I couldn't do this. There are so many obstacles. I really didn't think this though I groaned in frustration. Well there is no turning back now.
Using my memory from the last time which was useless as I had only been searching for a way out, if there was one place that I was certain I could find information, it was Dr Cronos's office. Wherever that was.
I let my instincts guide me. Thank god I hadn't encountered any security guards yet but I should hurry up, luck doesn't last that long.
With my eyebrows raised, these were the first guard's I had seen and they stood by a door, guarding it I guessed.
Well, we know what they say about guarded doors, they are filled with secrets. What should I do now? I needed to get into that door for whatever reason my instincts were pulling at me.
A distraction would work, although it was meant to be a stealthy mission, I would be making a lot of noise but I needed to have access into that room.
Time was running out as I hid by the corner and watched the guards, stepping back a bit and my shoulders brushed the fire alarm and a light bulb went off in my head.
This might not be considered as stealthy but it was going to work, it had to. I opened the box of the fire alarm ready to pull it before the blaring sound reverberated through the walls, squinting as my gaze narrowed, I had barely pulled the alarm, what the heck was going on?
I wondered if there was an actual fire which would mean we were all in danger. I peeked from my hidden corner and the guards walked away from the door. This was my opportunity as I rushed forward just as they turned the corner and unlocked the doors, pulling it open and entering inside before quietly shutting them behind me.
"Well, so you did come back just as I thought" a voice said and I froze in my tracks.
