Chapter 43 - Sweet Dreams

Chapter 43: Sweet Dreams

Back at their home Isabella was sitting on the couch while Dylan was removing the bandage on the side of her neck. They didn't speak much on the way back.

Isabella didn't ask any question when she saw her skin smooth, without any injury. She knew she bled because the cotton on the bandage was bloodied. Since when did she start having this kind of healing power?

"Who attacked you Isa?" Dylan asked after throwing away the bandage. He sat beside her as she put her head in his lap.

Isa took a deep breathe as she remembered what happened. Did she see it wrong? That man definitely looked like Dylan. And how can someone sink their teeth into neck? Was that a vampire? Do they actually exist?

Dylan looked at her closely while she was hesitating to answer. He didn't rush, and gave her all the time she needed to speak.

"I was checking the towels when someone hugged me from behind. I didn't turn around at first because he felt like you. His clothes, height, build, everything was similar to you."

Isabella looked at him and continued. "But when I spoke, he didn't respond, and suddenly his hand shut my mouth before I felt a sharp pain in my neck."

Isabella cringed as she recalled the feeling. Dylan gently massaged her scalp, letting her know that he is with her.

"I did see him in the mirror before fainting. He.. He looked like you. Exactly like you."

Dylan paused his fingers working on her scalp. Looked like him? How?

"And also. The pain.. it .. it felt just like that night when you threw away the ring." Isabella explained further. Dylan's frown deepened. He wanted to bang his head on a wall. Was he in reality? Does reality even exist now?

"Dylan?" Isabella hesitantly called out. She felt she was stressing him too much.

One look into her eyes, and Dylan understood her thoughts.

"Don't think too much princess. We are fine." Dylan tried to assure her.

"How did this happen?" Isabella asked pointing at his eyes.

"I don't know princess."

Isabella nodded. He too seemed quite shocked when he found out.

"And how did I heal so quickly?" Isabella shot another question.

'Don't tell her anything. I don't want to alert the culprit.'

Dylan heard Lawrence's voice before he could give her any reply. He thought Lawrence wasn't listening all this while.

"That I cannot tell you princess" Dylan answered. He cannot lie to her. Even if he did, she will find out right away.

Isabella got worried hearing this. She didn't want him to do anything silly because of her.

"You didn't do anything that might harm you, right?" she asked instantly.

"No. Don't worry love. I didn't do anything."

They sat in silence for a while, with Dylan gently patting Isabella's head. This made her feel drowsy but she didn't want to sleep. She was a bit traumatized after what happened at the store.

Dylan smiled seeing her trying so hard to fall asleep. He carried her in his arms to their bedroom before settling her on the bed.

"Sleep, my love. I will be right here." Dylan said as he lay beside her. He decided to not leave her alone even for a second.

"I love you Dylan" Isabella didn't know why she suddenly wanted to say it, but she did. When she fainted, Dylan was the only one on her mind. She thought she will never see him again.

"I love you too Isabella."

And she peacefully fell asleep in his arms.

In her sleep she had a beautiful dream. She and Dylan were little kids again. They were playing in a vast green field filled with flowers.

Little Isabella was running here and there, chasing butterflies, while little Dylan ran behind her to catch her in case falls.

She smiled in sleep as she looked at Dylan. He looked so cute as a child. His eyes were blue. Like an ocean. And the gold in them shone whenever sunlight fell on them.

Just like her childhood, here too Dylan made her drink water every now and then before letting her play again.

Little Isabella then handed him a bunch of flowers and little Dylan happily arranged them beautifully in her hair.

Her dream went on quite peacefully, removing all the emotional fatigue she felt in the morning.

Dylan woke after a short one hour nap. Mainly because he heard his wife murmuring something in his arms.

"Draph"

Dylan frowned hearing this name. Wasn't this the same name he heard in his dream? Was Isabella also dreaming the same thing?

He was curious, but didn't have the heart to wake up his beautiful wife. He stayed in bed for a while before silently slipping out. He decided to prepare some early dinner before she wakes up.

He kept the bedroom door wide open so that he can keep from the kitchen.

'Who is Draph?'

He heard Lawrence's voice as soon as he stepped out of the room. Dylan really wanted to ask if every king is usually this free to spy on their son-in-law 24/7. But he refrained.

"I don't know. But I too had a dream few days ago. Isabella kept talking to someone named Draph." Dylan informed. That Isabella in his dream was a little different, but still he could recognize her.

'And? What else did you dream of?'

He heard Lawrence question. Since he didn't know what the hell was going on in their life, he decided to trust Lawrence for now. Doesn't mean he completely believed him. Helping first and cheating next is a common fraud practice. He wasn't going to fall for that.

"Nothing much. Just that. She was playing and this Draph guy called her.. Samantha or Amantha something.."

There was no response from Lawrence for a while. Dylan shrugged and started cooking in kitchen.

He was breaking eggs when Lawrence spoke again.

'What about your eyes? I don't see any blue there.'

Dylan nodded. Yes. Only he and Isabella were seeing the blue in his eyes. No one else noticed anything weird there. He explained the same to Lawrence.

Aliza then interrupted her husband and started talking to Dylan. She was very sweet and motherly. And Dylan liked her after speaking to her for a while.

Unlike Lawrence, who seemed to be holding a grudge against him, Aliza kept calling him 'son' and asked a lot of questions about his and Isabella's childhood.
