"Not all our esteemed guests could simply clear their precious schedules on such short notice. I had to personally visit each one, extending my most sincere invitations. That way, they'd feel honored enough to drop everything and attend." He leaned forward slightly, his green eyes glinting with the confidence of a man who controlled everything. "After all, who would dare refuse me now?"
The sheer narcissism in his words nearly made me roll my eyes. But I bit down hard, my nails digging into my palms. Now wasn't the time to react to his attitude—I had bigger questions.
"What the hell are you playing at?" My voice was tight with suppressed frustration. "Why suddenly announce our engagement? And why this ridiculous spectacle?" I gestured toward the ship outside the window. "How does any of this connect to the 'act' you mentioned? This isn't just a performance—it's a public display with no way out!"
