Lazily walking along the dry dirt of a mountainous valley, Yuri Laxatus. A 5'6, chocolate skinned woman who's about 22 years old, and is the youngest known National Guard there is.
She wears a head of neatly trimmed, wavy black hair that droops down a little past her shoulders, and an outfit meant for laziness; pajama pants and an oversized t-shirt. Her shoes, which she made herself, begin to activate its air conditioning, forcing cold air up her body. "Ahhhhh!! That's WAY betterrrrr~" she purrs.
A few thousand feet away a man wearing a silver cloak with a shield insignia etched into the back continues to step forward through grassless dirt. He stops, his eyes staring directly at Yuri who continues on without a care in the world. The man starts walking towards yuri, unzipping his cloak enough to reveal his handsome face, deep blue eyes, and grey hair sleeked to the side.
"TRAVELER!" His voice is loud and travels farther than intended but it definitely reaches the target.
Yuri looks his way but quickly looks back and sighs. "Seriously? Why in Nova's name would you send a creep my way? …It's okay, maybe if you pretend that you don't notice him maybe he'll leave…", Yuri stays positive, acting as if she didn't hear the guy, even pulling her phone out and fake-taking a call.
He continues forward picking up speed, "Rude." He mutters to himself as he unzips his cloak all the way revealing the dark gray vest, dark form fitting undershirt and black combat pants. "I just want to ask some questions." His voice, still loud enough that it reaches Yuri.
That catches Yuri, "Questions huh? Judging by the looks of him, he may not be from here…then again, a lot of people look the part, but he gives a different energy….". Finally, Yuri starts to walk towards him herself.
They meet in the middle. Omori steps forward and speaks first.
"First things first, I am Omori Naoki of the S-Ranked Eclipse Division. Head of the Huntsman group. And to whom may I honor today M'lady?"
Yuri raises an eyebrow slightly,
"Yuri Laxatus. National Guard, and the greatest mind in all of modern history. You don't seem to be from around here, your energy is off…like you didn't come from this earth.".
Omori grins, flipping his hair to the other side revealing the scar along his nose. "I am from the main continent."
"This IS the main continent, doofus!! …I was hoping you wouldn't be a weirdo, but here I am now…" Yuri responded.
Omori looked at her before walking past her, bumping her purposefully, "I'll just go find some other more capable traveler," He looked back at her with a look of disgust, "You don't seem to be… a capable traveler." He turns walking, diverting to the path Yuri came from. But suddenly, Omori gets pushed back with enough force to end up back where he was.
Yuri grins a bit, "You know, it's rude to bump into a lady."
His face which is now painted with confusion fixes into a grin once more. "I apologize, I get carried away sometimes. You see I am from Azunee, a land far far away from here it seems." He says, looking around now really basking in the unfamiliar environment.
"Figures….Come with me. We have the tech to possibly bring you back to your dimension or whatever", Yuri sighs, "And I think traveling to your world can be interesting, as long as the people there aren't as odd as you are."
"World? If you wanna see that I have to gauge your strength then!" He without warning leaps towards her direction, this time with a wide grin as his blue eyes gaze towards her. Yuri crouches in.
Midair Omori unsheathes his longsword, spinning in circles creating a slash of blue in his wake.
Yuri slides under the blade and palms it upward, stopping the attack in whole. She begins with a right to Omori's gut but he dodges and tries to cut her in half, performing a vertical slash. Yuri steps back with a lean, leaving the attack ineffective.
Yuri grins "Your speed isn't bad, S-rank!"
FLICKER!!
Omori's afterimage disappears seconds after he does. He appears in front of her hitting her with the butt of his sword. "You aren't half bad yourself."
"Heh, glad you think so."
CLICK
A landmine from under Omori explodes outward in electricity, immobilizing him for enough time for Yuri to smack him meters away from her. "But it seems like my brain is still ahead of everyone else's", she lightly facepalms.
The sound of blade breaking through earth fills the area as Omori slams his blade into the ground.
The two stare at each other for a brief second before Omori darts towards Yuri.
Yuri skips at blinding speeds at Omori, launching a straight at his sternum, carrying massive amounts of wind with it. Omori quickly puts a barrier up but it shatters the moment Yuri's hand touches it.
"Lazy with perfect technique huh." He's almost caught by a follow up knee but he leans back enough for it to graze him.
As soon as Yuri's foot touches the ground Omori's fist comes flying towards her but she somehow spins and blocks the attack with her free leg.
Another moment of silence follows before Omori grabs her leg with his right arm and sweeps her with his left leg. As she's falling he spins, lifting his leg up and spinning causing a deep blue chikara to swirl around him "Vortex Stomp!" he spins 3 times before attempting to slam his foot through Yuri.
Close, but not a clean hit.
Yuri's shoes, at the right time, activated their rocket function, just barely getting her out of the way from major damage to herself, the ground on the other hand split in all directions and causing the ground to rumble. Once shaking a quarter of the continent. Again this time quieter and not as destructive.
Omori looking around now sees his mistake. The tremors caused from his Vortex Stomp just so happened to be on top of a nest.
"Damnit!" Omori leaps into the air but as his feet leave the ground, out follows a thresher. "Dune threshers in a place like this aswell!?"
MONSTER CODEX: Dune Thresher..
A Dune Thresher is a desert variant of the Eldorian Landshark that only lives on the continent of Imperia. Dune threshers are a slightly darker shade than the sand around them but with a light underbelly. Equipped with hard jagged scales, sharper claws and pitch black eyes, these predators hunt in packs and live in underground nests. Don't forget the near 10 mile smelling radius Dune Threshers come with.
Its jaws clamp down on the now empty spot Omori once occupied. The ground starts rumbling again, this time underneath Yuri. Omori on the other hand lands a few dozen feet away from the threshers.
It splits open and out comes several Dune Threshers in an attempt to devour Yuri in their wake.
Casually, Yuri opens a portal with galactic lining. On the other side, shows Omori, not noticing Yuri stepping behind him.
"What are these things…???"
Omori looks back at Yuri before focusing on the task ahead. "Dune Threshers, they aren't present on the main continent, unusual."
Just as Yuri takes a breath to respond, a glint of light catches her eyes as they widen a bit. She pulls both Omori and herself downward.
It was lucky for them that she did. An arrow, dreaming to pierce both of them, misses by a long shot. From above, a group of human lookalikes wearing golden, feathery wings floated down with grace.
"Seriously? And I didn't think this night could get any worse.." Yuri scowls.
One of the beings stride up with confidence. He claps his hands loudly and says, "Well, well..look around boys. It's a field day!…Have some fun!"
ANGELS: From beyond the skies and stars, these beings come from a realm called Heaven. Heaven has three layers, each boundless in size. These layers are named rings, and angels are the ones who reside in the first ring. Almost always wearing golden wings that flutter in the non-existening wind and sometimes, slight armor of the same color; a breastplate.
The Dune Threshers look towards the Angels, slowly grouping together. Some turn towards Omori and Yuri while the others stay locked onto the Angels.
The threshers begin calling to each other, communicating. But Simultaneously, the Angels speed in, casually breaking tens of sound barriers while some of them stay behind, others chanting what seems like spells.
Omori begins inspecting his sword, "How many wars does an undermanned army win?" He slides two fingers along the blade coating it with chi. "Not many."
Yuri yawns, "Why would you ask that like these chumps have a chance.."
"Because we aren't the undermanned ones here." He points his blade at the threshers, "They are." Slowly he begins walking towards the threshers twirling his blade, the chikara creating a blue streak.
Yuri pulls a laser pointer from her pocket, its design is light gray in color, and shines a green bulb at the end of it. Spontaneously, it morphs into a fine blade. She chuckles to herself, "You got that right."
At the same time…
FLICKER!!
Threshers dash in both directions randomly yet simultaneously. The ones that went towards Yuri and Omori quickly stop as their afterimages flicker.
Meanwhile, a few of the Angels flew up, cratering the ground of where Yuri and Omori once were. It was long before their afterimages fully vanished, leaving confusion.
Omori appears in the middle of the threshers, his foot pivots and he begins flickering multiple times slicking through thresher after thresher.
Yuri opens her portals to appear and attack from unknown angles, taking out a handful of the Angels until a Thrasher savagely leaps at her. But to no surprise it easily gets divided in half by her blade.
Omori dodges the claws of a thresher, rolling away from the jaws of another. The Angels start stampeding, clashing with Omori and the Dune Threshers. A battle quickly turns into war as Omori begins gracefully and brutally slaughtering Angel and Thresher alike.
"Angel's actually staying back using strategy?" Yuri mumbles as she circles up a portal, sticking the bottom of her blade through; the green light protrudes, before firing a neon beam and disintegrating them off the battlefield.
She abruptly sits crisscross applesauce, resting one hand on the chin, as the other scratches the back under her baggy shirt. Yawning once again, Yuri makes a tiny portal that–across from it, reveals a sandwich sub, instantly taking it.
"Been waiting all day for this one!" She giggles, chomping a chunk out of the sub before sighing. "But I guess it can wait more…" Yuri frowns, pushing the sandwich back through the portal. Then creating another, walking through as she slashes at Omori's neck, knowing he would dodge–taking out several Threshers.
FLICKER!!
Omori stands with her wrist in his hand. "Watch the blade." He drops it before slicing through a thresher that pounced towards them.
"I knew you were gonna dodge, old man. Don't forget, I'm the smartest the world has ever seen." She weaves an Angel's hammer smash then slashes her in half, creating a portal and dragging Omori through with her, gaining distance as they see the chaos unfold.
"I'm 27. If that's what you call old then maybe you're just young." Omori puts his hands on his hips as the Angels and Threshers go to war.
"I'm 22.." She crosses her arms. "And besides, you look old for your age you know? …Or maybe it's just the dirt on your face"
Omori looks up at the sky. "I don't have time for your games. Take me back."
"Oh but of course you have time for games" The instant she spoke, they both appear in the middle of the commotion, each slashing at an Angel or Thresher. "It was your idea to 'test' me, was it not?"
Omori chuckles as his blade begins glowing. "That's my game sweetie." He swings it, sending out a gigantic slash cutting through exactly half of the Angels and Threshers. "Now beat that."
The bottom of Yuri's handle glows, the light green bulb begins emitting a great light. She opens a portal in front of her as multiple others form around in a dome.
"I think I just beat that" she grins, firing the same neon cannon she used before, wiping out the rest of the Angels and Threshers. "One up, S-Rank"
Omori doesn't even respond, already walking forward. "Alright, you've had your fun. I've got business to attend to." He holds his hand out, and a few seconds later his cloak comes flying back into his hands.
"Alright alright. In your world, right? I can send you home now if you want. But I'm definitely coming with you"
Omori sighs before reaching into his pouch. "Of course the brat wants to tag along. Here." He hands her a piece of paper, "Erik said this would come in handy one day anyway."
"You know I can hear you, OLD man." Yuri says, walking up to Omori, putting her hand on Omori's shoulder and grabbing the paper. "Corrdinents, huh?"
"You can read that? Guess you aren't all talk."
Yuri opens a portal and pulls her sandwich sub from it. "Want some? You know..before you leave and all?"
…
A long silence follows. "What? You already ate it."
"So? I'll just cut it in half" Yuri bluntly says.
"I don't want it. Thanks for the offer though!" He pats her shoulder before taking a step back. "So you gonna send me home or what?"
Yuri chuckles, "Yeah just let me read this thoroughly…". After a bit, she takes a deep breath, "You know reading dimensional coordinates isn't easy, and this will be my first time making a portal through coordinates, but no worries!"
A portal with galactic lining shapes in an oval, revealing the front gates of OMEN.
"So this is what your world looks like…"
The gigantic wooden wall stretches thousands of feet upward, stretching even farther than the clouds. The 2 Sentinels sitting outside guarding the front gate, Juzu and Mizaka watch as Omori steps through the portal. "It's not much. But it's home." He says looking back at Yuri.
She just smiles widely. "Just expect a visit from me one day, Omori Naoki."
He nods. "I'll be waiting, Yuri." He turned towards the gate and walked towards it as the portal closes shut.
