Chapter 61 - Chapter Sixty-One - Desires

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bullets continuously struck the tree that Michael is hiding on while pieces of tree barks flew in every direction.

"Annoying bastards." Michael cursed in a low voice while pulling his Sig Sauer P320 from its holsters.

With the Winchester 1892 on his left and Sig Sauer P320 on the right, Michael waited for the right opportunity.

The enemies kept shooting at him with wild abandon, completely forgetting the fact that they weren't even hitting him at all and were just wasting their bullets on a tree.

"Stop! Dagnabbit, stop shooting you bunch of fools!" Except for one person who still has his reason intact and wasn't consumed by anger. Every single one of them just went wild and emptied mags after mags of ammunition on the tree.

'A bunch of fools' Michael snorted in disdain.

"Dang it! Stupid fools!"

Looking at the herd of walkers drawing closer, then at his companions who's turning a deaf ear to his words, the man let out a curse and immediately bolted out of there.

He knew that the moment they ran out of bullets, will be the moment they wished they listened to him. He's always been pragmatic, and as someone who considers himself a survivor, he fled with no hesitaion.

There's also something he just realized while fleeing. 'That person is either stupid, or he's someone who never considered us a threat.'

Click! Click!

"I'm out!"

"Me too! Throw me one if you have an extra!"

After frantically searching for an additional mag all over his body, one of them yelled in panic as he turned to look at his companions for assistance, but his following expressions had turned anger into fear when he finally realized that the herd were now just a couple of meters away from them.

"B-biters! Run!"

He let out a frantic yell filled with horror and started scrambling away. This finally got everyone's attention as they turned their heads simultaneously towards the opposite direction and finally saw that the herd was now upon them with just a couple of meters between them.

"Sh..shit! Run!"

At this point, they had completely forgotten Michael and started making their escape. Everyone is not afraid when encountering just a couple of them, but when their number exceeds ten? Then they better start running and praying since these bastards can not only run slightly, but they can also use tools to open doors and even climb fences.

Behind the tree, hearing the panic voices on the other side.

Michael's eyes snapped wide open and came out of his hiding with a spin.

His eyes scanned for his targets, took aim and fired!

Bang! Bang!

"Ahh!"

"F-F*ck!"

One was shot on his back, and fell down dead. The other was unlucky, the bullet only landed on his shoulder. He endured the pain and continued escaping, this time, a lot smarter as he fled while using the trees as cover.

"These bastards sure run fast." Michael murmured, a little annoyed that they escaped from him. Though it's obvious he never had the intention of going after them when a more delicious prey appeared.

"Graaah!"

Bang!

Splatter!

The herd of walkers had now reached their location. The one on the forefront of the herd tried to reach for Michael, only to receive a bullet to the head from his Winchester 1892.

Michael frowned while slowly backing away from the herd. "I still can't get used to their foul stench!"

Out of bullets and no time to reload, he placed his Winchester back to its holster on his back before pulling out the default weapon of every survivor, a machete.

It's a must have since you can never be wrong with a machete in hand.

'Should have brought the Claymore instead' He thought since the Claymore is more robust than a machete and can withstand his ferocious swings a lot longer.

Looking at the small horde before him, Michael calmly smiled and muttered under his breath. "It's time to get rich."

He quickly switched his Machete to his right hand and his Sig Sauer to his left while dodging on incoming walker pouncing at him.

Spinning as he dodge, he followed it up with his machete coming from below and cleanly beheaded the poor bastard.

Michael took a quick glance around him and took off while putting his pistol back to its holster on his waist. Which he should have done from the very beginning since it's just gonna get in the way and also waste bullets.

He wasn't fleeing from the horde after uttering the words that it was time to get rich, but he was creating distance from them since they had moved too close for comfort. The complicated terrain of the forest isn't really favorable towards both parties.

The terrain deters the walkers deadliest means of attack, surrounding their prey, but this also poses a threat to Michael or any other living since just one misstep could result in anyone getting surrounded.

He's strong, but he's also not stupid to just stand there and bear the brunt of their attacks.

"Haa!"

Running down the steep hill, Michael took a leap and landed at the edge of a meadow. In one direction is the highway, white on the opposite direction is the vast stretch of the forest with some buildings popping out with just their roofs visible here and there.

'Come on!'

Watching most of the walkers tumbling down the hill like a group of idiots, Michael gritted his teeth with a grin while tightening his grip around his machete.

A walker had rolled down the hill before it slowly picked itself up and charged towards Michael with a speed faster than a walk. One arm limping on its side and the other outstretched towards Michael, its moan slightly became louder the closer it got to him.

Splat!

"Bad breath! You need toothpaste!" Michael left a comment as he embedded his Machete deep on the walker's head, almost slicing it in half before he quickly pulled it out while kicking its body away from him since another walker was coming!

Michael quickly placed his left hand on the walker's chest before pushing it away. The walker fell down on the ground as Michael followed it up with a small dash towards it and stomped its head into a mush, dirtying his army boots he had recently received from Captain Nova before his return to Georgia.

Michael grinned wickedly and rushed towards the nearest walker and thrust his machete like it was a spear towards its face before immediately pulling it out with a spin and hacking it to the side where another walker was reaching out to grab him.

Ding! Ding!

He turned his head and spotted another prey still trying to pick itself up from the ground when Michael suddenly appeared beside it with his foot up in the air before he stomped down hard.

Splat!

Walkers kept rolling down the hill, but Michael also kept on with his killing spree. He didn't know when he started doing it, but he realized that he had started humming a very familiar song that goes..

♫ If you wanna see some action, gotta be the center of attraction ♫

"Heh!"

'Now that I think about it. I never managed to see how that series had ended.' He reminisces while kicking another walker down and stomping its head like a watermelon.

The bloody storm continued as Michael kept hacking left and right, and with every slash, a walker would die.

On the other hand, back at the diner, Rosita had grown worried when the sound of gunshots in the distance had ceased for some time now and Michael still isn't back.

Not wanting to leave the kids behind, Rosita drove the car back to the highway and towards the meadow on the other side of the road. Just as she prepared for the car to go down, she suddenly saw in the distance, a familiar silhouette jumping down the hill and once again witnessed a familiar scene.

This time, she wasn't alone.

"That guy..is seriously not normal..at all." She muttered words only she could hear.

The kids who were also witnessing the same scene had varied expressions on their faces.

'How is he so strong?' Athena was amazed at the sight, but she was more curious about Michael's strength. Seeing how Michael was easily dispatching these flesh-eating monsters, was the moment her desire to be strong sprouted.

"Whoa! Is he a superhero?!"

"Cool! Yeah, get them!"

On the other hand, the two naive boys were showing more enthusiasm than the other two as they even started punching the air.

Today, the two boys desired to be like Michael one day.

Strong and courageous.
