Orion chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Fair enough. I need it too. We've been through a lot today."
"Yeah…" Megan's smile faded into something more solemn, her eyes clouding with emotion. Her gaze fell on the twins, her fingers brushing the edge of the mattress as if grounding herself in their presence. "A lot," she echoed, her voice barely above a whisper — distant, heavy. As though the weight of everything they'd escaped was just now catching up to her.
Orion's expression softened. He watched her quietly for a moment, then exhaled a long, slow breath. "Who could've thought they'd be the ones to save us, huh?" he said, nodding toward the sleeping twins.
