Chapter 108 - Journey to Power - 13

It was time for the team matches. All the students had come to watch, mostly to cheer for Joshua's team. Only Clara's team was there to watch Kaiser's team. An elder stepped forward and announced, "This is a match between the Unbreakables and the Abominations." Joshua's team was called the Unbreakables because they always won without anyone getting hurt. Kaiser's team, as everyone knew, were the Abominations.

The elder called out, "First, coming are the Unbreakables!" Joshua, Beth, Dixie, and Rex walked onto the field. Each of them held up their swords, showing off their strength. The crowd cheered loudly.

Frey asked Clara, "Do you think the Unbreakables can win?"

Clara looked at the field. "It's hard to tell," she said. "They are stronger than us and have more experience. We'll see."

The elder then announced, "Now coming are the Abominations!" Kaiser, Adriel, Hella, and Sentry walked out. The crowd immediately started booing loudly.

"This is different," Kaiser said to Sentry. "No one was booing us last time."

Sentry shrugged. "Do you really think they wouldn't be booing us?"

"I guess not," Kaiser sighed.

The elder explained the rules, but they were the same as before: destroy the opponent's crystal on a platform, and no killing. Then, two elders led each team to their crystals. Since the fight was in grasslands, both teams could see each other from a distance.

Kaiser, Hella, and Adriel took out their swords. Joshua, Rex, and Beth did the same. Then, Joshua, Beth, and Rex all started running from three different directions, heading towards Kaiser's crystal.

"Time to fight!" Adriel yelled, ready to charge.

Kaiser raised his hand, stopping him. "Not now, Adriel." Joshua and his team stopped in the middle of the field, confused.

Kaiser chuckled. "They wanted to split us up by trying to lure us. But since we're not moving towards them, they can't go forward. If they do, they'll get too close to each other, and their plan will be ruined."

"So what should we do?" Adriel asked.

"Adriel," Kaiser said, a mischievous glint in his eyes, "want to fight two against one?" Adriel laughed a wild, loud laugh. Kaiser told him, "Go in between Rex and Beth."

Adriel started running right between Rex and Beth. Seeing this, Rex and Beth quickly ran to cut him off. "Now, Hella," Kaiser said, turning to her, "I need to run to Joshua." Kaiser ran faster than Hella towards Joshua, getting ready for a fight.

"Now it's anybody's game, Joshua!" Kaiser shouted as he attacked with his sword.

Joshua quickly replied, "No, you started late, it's not anybody's!" But as he said this, Hella came rushing towards him at a very high speed. Joshua quickly pushed Kaiser to the side and got into a defensive pose to block Hella. But Hella just ran past him, not at him, and kept going towards his team's crystal.

Joshua's eyes widened. He realized their true plan. He immediately chased after Hella, but suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his back. A wind slice cut him. Kaiser had used his first verse of the

Sword Saint technique, "Wind Slices the Sword."

"You fell for it, Joshua!" Kaiser called out, then used his technique again. Joshua quickly moved to shield his upper body, but then he saw Kaiser was aiming for his legs. Before he could cover them, the wind slice hit, cutting his legs. Kaiser then ran towards where Adriel was fighting to help him.

The crowd watched the fight between Kaiser and Joshua on the big light screen, completely surprised. Clara smiled faintly. "They underestimated him too much," she said. "They thought his team was like any other team they fought, and now they're paying the price."

Frey added, "Well, and also, they're fighting in the grasslands, so their every move could be seen."

The light screen shifted, now showing Adriel's fight. Adriel was somehow keeping both Beth and Rex busy. He locked swords with Rex, but then Beth quickly attacked his body, making a cut. Adriel pushed Rex away, but then Beth locked her sword with Adriel, and Rex made another cut. This kept happening: Adriel pushed one, the other attacked, making a cut. Then, Adriel pushed Rex's sword away. Beth was about to lock her sword with Adriel, but Adriel simply took the sword cut on his chest. Beth and Rex were stunned, frozen in disbelief. Rex even forgot to attack when Adriel, ignoring his wound, pierced his sword into Beth's body. Beth stumbled, collapsing. Rex, seeing this, attacked Adriel. Adriel took Rex's slash, but then, in an insane move, he pulled Beth's sword, which was still stuck in his body, out and used it to pierce Rex. Rex's eyes went wide as he fell.

Medic Elders rushed in and quickly saw that both Beth and Rex were not badly hurt, then took them away. Everyone watching on the light screen gasped, shocked by how crazy someone could be to use their own body to win a fight. Clara smiled a little. "Now that's the true form of Adriel," she murmured.

Kaiser, watching from a distance as Adriel won, started running towards the Unbreakables' crystal. Adriel, despite his injuries, also began to run towards it.

Hella had already reached the crystal and saw Dixie guarding it. "Better surrender," Hella said, her voice confident. "There's no chance for you to win."

Dixie, defiant, retorted, "That might be true, but I'm still not going to surrender!" Dixie attacked with her sword, and Hella met her strike. Their blades clashed, a fierce exchange. Then, Dixie locked swords with Hella. Hella quickly kicked Dixie in the stomach, sending her sprawling. Hella continued to kick her, then raised her sword to strike, but Dixie, with surprising speed, rolled and dodged, getting back to her feet.

Both attacked again, but before their swords could meet, Dixie threw her sword high into the air and tackled Hella, punching her in the gut. She used her hand to knock Hella's sword out of her hand. Then, with an almost magical move, she placed her hand on top of her head, and her own sword, which she had thrown, fell perfectly into her hand.

"What did you say?" Dixie taunted, a smirk on her face. "I'm defeated? Look who is now!"

Hella, surprisingly, smiled. "You are in this position so that this could happen!" she said.

Suddenly, a sword-breaking sound echoed through the air, followed by a wind slice that shattered the crystal. Dixie looked to the side, her eyes widening in disbelief. Kaiser stood there, his sword now broken, having clearly used his Verse 1 to destroy the crystal.

The horn blared, signaling the end of the fight. The crowd, utterly stunned, could not believe their eyes.
