Liam sprinted across the battlefield, his form a blur against the frozen backdrop. Each step sent snow scattering in his wake, his boots barely making contact with the ground. But just as he pushed forward, another trail of snow erupted ahead, racing toward him like a serpent.
His instincts kicked in. Without hesitation, Liam launched himself into the air, flipping upward just as the two trails of snow collided violently beneath him in an icy explosion.
Mid-air, he leveled his revolver. A deafening blast tore through the silence as he fired, his bullet streaking toward Gaby in a flare of heat and force.
Gaby's eyes lit up, his ever-present grin widening. With a casual flick of his hand, a thick wall of snow burst from the ground, solidifying just in time to block the projectile. The impact thudded against the wall, harmlessly buried.
"Is this all you can dooo???" Gaby taunted, his voice sing-song, childish, clearly unimpressed.
Liam landed with practiced grace, crouching before straightening with sharp precision. He exhaled sharply through his nose, jaw tight.
Hmph... This kid is really starting to annoy me. That arrogance just makes me want to blow his head off, he thought grimly as he reloaded his revolver with a practiced flick of his wrist.
Without a word, Liam reached into his coat and pulled out a second gun, now wielding one in each hand.
Gaby tilted his head, puzzled. He squinted, leaning forward with exaggerated confusion as if Liam were doing something impossibly stupid.
"Yo!" he called out. "Two guns aren't going to make any difference!"
Liam said nothing, only lowering his stance. And then, his guns began to glow. A faint blueish aura enveloped each weapon, swirling with energy, pulsing softly like veins of light.
The glow caught Gaby's attention.
"What is he doing..." he wondered, his brow furrowed.
But then he smirked.
"Glowing guns... cool, but do you want to see something cooler?!" he shouted.
Liam's eyes narrowed, a flicker of annoyance flashing behind his gaze. He studied Gaby warily, his fingers twitching slightly on the triggers.
What kind of annoying trick are you pulling—
Without warning, snow began to gather in front of Gaby, swirling into two massive spheres. The orbs expanded rapidly, devouring the ground beneath as they grew, and grew. A low rumble echoed across the field.
Liam's eyes widened in disbelief as the shadows of towering shapes fell over him.
"You gotta be kidding me..." he muttered.
The snowballs solidified into hulking giants, two massive snow golems. Their icy bodies shimmered with frozen strength, and their glowing blue eyes locked onto Liam with eerie stillness, like puppets awaiting command.
Gaby clapped excitedly, doubling over with childish glee as laughter erupted from him.
"You see now!!!" he cried out, beaming with pride.
"This is what I call cool!!!"
He stopped laughing just long enough to point at Liam with both hands.
"Beat this!"
Liam stood frozen for a moment, not from fear, but calculation. The sheer size of the golems was overwhelming. But then… he smiled. A nervous grin tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"You are talented... but you lack a logical brain..." Liam said coolly, the glint in his eyes returning.
Gaby's laughter choked off.
"What did you say?!" he snapped, incredulous.
"You're going to find out..." Liam answered, spinning the guns in his hands with a flourish before sliding into position, one leg forward, arms raised like a seasoned duelist.
"Right now!"
