Chapter 127: Training with Vados
"Even his energy is completely hidden?" Lin Qi was increasingly stunned. If he hadn't been absolutely sure about what he sensed, he would've thought it was just his imagination.
Bang!
A figure swiftly flashed past Lin Qi, and a sharp hand strike sliced toward his neck.
Lin Qi leaned back slightly, dodging the attack. He looked at the figure before him—clad in a long, purple coat.
Having missed the first strike, the figure slid his hands into the coat's pockets and quickly retreated to put some distance between them.
"Hit?!" Lin Qi looked at him in surprise, but quickly composed himself. "An assassin… Was it Frost who hired you?!"
After all, in Universe 6, Lin Qi didn't know many people, and the only one he had a grudge with was Frost!
Lin Qi had killed that Breed guy who didn't even survive one chapter!
"Mission... failed." Hit's face remained stoic, his tone flat as he looked at Lin Qi.
As soon as he said that, his energy disappeared again. "Farewell."
"Huh?" Lin Qi stared after him in bewilderment. "That's it? He's just leaving?"
"Whatever..." Lin Qi placed his hands behind his head lazily. "Time to go find a few more planets."
Nothing particularly noteworthy happened after that.
Lin Qi wandered through half of the North Galaxy and discovered over a dozen food-rich planets before returning to the God of Destruction's realm.
Champa was nowhere to be seen, but Vados stood there with one hand holding her staff and the other folded behind her back, a cheery smile on her face as she turned off the staff.
"Very good. Now I'll teach you how to use finesse in combat."
She had already watched Lin Qi's entire journey to find food planets and was very satisfied with his resourcefulness.
Lin Qi didn't argue and clenched his fists excitedly. "Let's go… How about the Null Realm?"
"No need to go through all that trouble," Vados replied casually, glancing at him. She raised her staff and pointed it at Lin Qi.
Whoosh!
In an instant, Lin Qi found himself in a dark and endless void. He looked around and muttered, "Isn't this still the Null Realm?"
"No, this is a pocket dimension created with a magic orb. It's essentially different from the actual Null Realm," Vados' voice came from behind him.
"Oh… Whatever, details like that aren't important!" Lin Qi said, exhilarated. He roared and entered his Super Saiyan 6 form, then charged at Vados.
Vados calmly raised her palm and blocked Lin Qi's punch. "Is this how you usually spar with Whis?"
"No wonder… He didn't realize you lack precise control over your power." As she spoke, she lightly pushed her palm forward.
Lin Qi's body blasted backward from the gentle push. Vados appeared behind him and caught him, muttering with disapproval.
"You advanced your power too quickly early on. Your fundamentals are completely unsteady! Cognac's training didn't cut it."
"Uh…" Lin Qi was slightly dazed. Could Vados really see that kind of flaw?
Who would've thought this ill-tempered angel had such a sharp eye?
"What's the strongest form you can maintain for a long period?" Vados asked again.
"Probably Super Saiyan 5. I can keep that up for about half a day before I'm exhausted. Super Saiyan 6 doesn't last as long—maybe two or three hours tops."
Lin Qi rubbed his chin. "As for Super Saiyan 4… I haven't really tested how long I can stay in that one."
"But from what I've seen, you usually stay in your base form. Is it because it's less draining?" Vados scrutinized Lin Qi's Super Saiyan 6 form.
"This transformation… Which level is it? Show me each of your forms, one by one."
"Oh… I just figured it's normal to stay in base form under normal conditions, right?" Lin Qi obediently transformed through each form, and Vados quickly formulated a training plan.
"Did you forget? We angels are always in Ultra Instinct. Start from your base form and spar with me. First, we'll reinforce your foundation."
Hearing this, Lin Qi stared at her in disbelief. "Base form? Won't you just beat me to death?"
"You're overthinking it. I'll keep my power under control—that's what I want to teach you. Precision. I can suppress my strength down to single digits. It's the concept of returning to basics."
"Right now, your power in transformed states is like a castle in the sky—completely lacking foundation."
"All right then. How are we doing this?" Lin Qi asked Vados eagerly.
"Attack me." Vados' lips curled into a faint smile as she calmly uttered the three words.
"Okay…" Lin Qi returned to base form, looked at Vados, and prepared to attack. But the Vados standing in front of him…
Looked exactly the same as usual. Even seemed a bit distant and unapproachable, just floating in midair without any discernible stance.
Lin Qi, however, couldn't find a single opening. "Are you in a perfected Ultra Instinct state?"
"No. This is just the basic Ultra Instinct," Vados answered with a slight smile. "Attack me."
"Damn it…" In his base form, Lin Qi felt a very different pressure from what he felt with Whis.
If Whis' training was like slowly boiling a frog, then Vados' approach was sheer domination—crushing him with overwhelming strength until he felt utterly insignificant.
Lin Qi threw a tentative punch toward her abdomen. He hesitated, feeling awkward about striking a female angel.
He couldn't punch her chest…
And hitting her face didn't seem right either…
Smack!
Vados caught his punch with her palm, her expression turning stern. "What are you hesitating for?!"
"I'm not used to fighting women…" Lin Qi scratched his head awkwardly, clearly embarrassed.
"An enemy is an enemy—there's no such thing as gender in combat. Besides, I'm an angel, not some human woman! Different species!"
Vados flipped through the air and delivered a kick toward Lin Qi. Watching him cross his arms to block it, her expression grew even colder. "Focus!"
"Got it…" Lin Qi responded and grew more serious.
In a blink, the two of them clashed and entangled in high-speed combat—so fast it was hard to track their movements.
Only Vados' sharp shouts could occasionally be heard.
"No! You're using too much force… now it's too soft!"
"Hit me with 100,000 battle power! Just now you used at least 300,000!"
Training under Vados had a way of making you lose track of time.
Before he realized it, another year had passed.
Aside from his training with Vados, most of his time was spent being dragged around by Champa in search of food.
That guy had become completely obsessed with gourmet food, his body growing noticeably rounder.
Which only made Vados more disdainful of him—often using "training" as an excuse to have Lin Qi beat Champa up!
Lin Qi still adhered to the original storyline's timeline—Year 762, November. To avoid any accidents, he even moved things up by a month.
After all, not many Saiyans were still alive!
But due to the butterfly effect, since Raditz hadn't died, the timing of Vegeta's arrival on Earth had completely deviated from the original plot.
