Taz's body exploded into bits that were not appeasing to the eye.
"Damn. I had just one job. To take his life and I messed it up." Tim ranted to no one in particular because, he was disappointed by the opportunity that was missed.
He was really pissed off. If he killed Taz, he would have gotten him as one of his undead.
He could have also gained his spells and his knowledge, especially the last spell that he casted. That spell alone showed a lot of promise and potential.
He had briefly fantasied about the damage he would be able to dish out with such a spell. Having a wheel of volcanic massive fire balls was no joke.
He was truly stupid for playing with his prey.
"Never Play with prey." He muttered to himself. This was something that he was going to live by moving forward.
Wanting to try his luck, he went towards the area, where Taz killed himself, and tried to see if he could absorb Taz to become an undead, but it was no longer possible.
He didn't even get the chance to loot Taz of his belongings. Every thing about his poor decision just pissed him off.
He got up to leave the scene, the loud noise from the battle would have attracted multiple variables . he did not need anyone to tell him to leave the area.
As he was about to leave the scene, he suddenly remembered something.
He did not level up, heck he did not even get any notification after Taz died. He was confused, why did he not get any Exp.
Even if he did not directly kill Taz, he was a major contributor to his death, well technically not him but his summons were major contributors to his death.
His body was still not fully healed, and he was previously banking on the fact that when he kills Taz, then he gets levelled up his pains would ease up.
But now there was no level up, and he had not completely wiped out his enemies. He was out of proper undead to summon and he could not summon low level snakes to battle for him.
Against Idah? He doubted if the summons would even last up to 10 seconds if he were to assume that Idah and Taz possessed the same power level.
Heck he could not even face Idah alone. He had to leave the scene immediately.
He did not even want to think about battling Idah in his current condition.
At the same time that he wanted to leave, he suddenly remembered the prisoners. The entire battle started because of them. How could he now leave them.
He had to rescue them one way or the other and fleeing was definitely not an option. He was in a bind.
'What will the MC of a major fantasy book do at this point.' Tim thought, as he reflected on the countless books that he had read over his lifetime on Earth.
And he found the answer in his memories, according to most of the books that he had read. The MC usually finds a way to resolve the issue, no matter how difficult it was for the MC.
That was what Tim needed to do at this moment. He needed to come up with a solution that works best for him without him losing an arm or a leg.
Picking up the Thorn that was lodged half way into a tree, he came up with an idea.
All he had to do was to take out Idah with a sneak attack. Nothing takes out a troublesome enemy better than a sneak attack, at least according to his opinion.
He knew that Idah would arrive at any moment, so he needed to come up with a suitable sneak attack.
Looking at the thorn, he thought of multiple ways to take Idah out with it. He definitely saw Idah holding a long sword.
So he discarded the idea of him sneaking then striking him at close range. Idah with his possibly enhanced reflexes might easily dodge the attack.
And he did not wan to perform a sneak attack that might or might not work.
…..
"We are very close to the source of the last explosion we have to keep moving, but that will be after I analyze and figure out who Taz was fighting." Idah said, as he tried to look for clues about what happened in the scene that they were in.
He could see a lot of damage was done to the environment. He had previously assumed that the cause of the large explosions and battle was probably because of the reinforcements that Tim called, or it was just that Tim's battle with Taz attracted someone that was strong.
The scene that he was witnessing made his assumption seem like the truth, because he could not even imagine fully what went on in the area.
There were a lot of destructions in the area.
Idah could see blood that was spilled on the ground of the forest, but he could not trace the blood to a body.
He was rushing previously to meet up with Idah, but after hearing the last explosion. He immediately knew what had happened.
He knew immediately that Taz had taken his life. The noise from the explosion was unique, and it also had a special meaning to it.
The noise from the special scroll that Taz used, was so distinct from a regular explosion that even if he was sleeping, he would be able to tell it apart from another explosion.
He had a discussion with Taz previously that if they run into trouble and any of them uses the scroll, the suicide scroll.
Then it would mean that the opponent is extremely dangerous and if possible, the other party should flee.
But this time Idah was curious to know the cause of it all. He heard an unusual sound and he immediately accelerated to the source of the sound.
On reaching the source of the sound, he saw Tim. Applying something from his mouth to a sharp bony thorn.
He felt uneasy. Was Tim the cause of Taz's suicide?
"So, it was you." He said in a cold and feral tone
