Chapter 23 - Outpost

Isaac's transformation of the beach has turned it into a small village which has caught the attention of the strongest group in the island. The same faction that he saw as the main threat, the insectoids K'sharnids.

In the week since unlocking tier 2 units, he has produced a total of four of them. A Tier 2 Murlok Enchanter, a Tier 2 Murlok Berserker, a Tier 2 Archer and Callum who has turned into a Hoplite. With the addition of a General Barrack and two more Murlok Barracks, This meant that Every three days 5 Murloks would spawn and every week 3 Humans would come. Considering that the General barrack spawned both instead of just 1, though it's more cost effective for his goals to build the smaller more concentrated barracks. Another thing to consider is that these are units that were produced from the newer buildings, meaning that the units from his original buildings haven't been counted yet.

In the week since his first encounter with the K'sharnids, the monkey-like Itnaks have been integrated into his small army. Currently spawning at a rate of once every 3 days if their spawning barrack is near a Tree. Isaac's plans for their specialized barracks are still in the works, his focus was on building at least 2 more extra resource based buildings while also gathering enough magic crystals for more Arcane towers.

That week, a total of 10 Murloks, 3 Humans and 2 Itnaks came out of the newer buildings while his Original 4 Murlok Barracks and 2 Human Barracks provided him with 8 Murloks and 2 Humans. He needed to add an additional basic training facility due to the rapid production of units.

He had 31 units at the start of the week, but now he actually had the shell of an army. 25 new units joined the fold, with only a few of them being basic ones that have no professions at the moment. "Unit List!"

[Units] Total: 56

T1 Swordsman 3x

Hoplite 1x "Callum"

T1 Archer 6x

T2 Archer 1x "Olive"

T1 Spearman 3x

T1 Murlok Militia 14x

T1 Murlok Enchanter 8x

T2 Murlok Enchanter 1x "Gazrik"

T1 Murlok Berserker 10x

T2 Murlok Berserker 1x "Slargh"

T1 Murlok Spine-thrower 6x

Basic Itnak Unit 2x

The humans went from 9 to 14, while the Murlok forces jumped from 22 to 40. And now the Itnaks were training under the general building along with two more batches of T2 units in training. While his army grew, so did the buildings that he needed to keep them up. The small pond, with fences surrounding it has been turned into the "Fish Farm" building along with the Barn that now produces meat from live deer and boar.

With the upgrade of the training facility also came a newly unlocked building, the [Forge] which can give any and all of his units access to Iron weapons and armor. This equipment can also be considered a downgraded version of what a unit gains upon reaching Tier 2. Meaning that while the weaponry of his units are at a certain level they are still a bit weaker than his Tier 2 units.

"Now it's just a matter of unlocking gunpowder, though magical research seems like another route for power." Isaac noted down, he looked through his notebook as he asked his T2 units about their findings. "Gazrik, can you report on the threats in the forest."

"Glarrghh… The threats… they respect our numbers…Lord." The Tier 2 Enchanter was one of his best units, having decided to name each of his firs tier 2 units as squad captains their role is to scout the area or hunt for food and other resources.

"Indeed, the K'Sharnids have retreated to their side of the island. While inconsequential the main threat has now turned into the local Itnaks." A feminine voice followed, it was Olive the tier 2 Archer. Her dark black hair reminded Isaac of the fruit hence her name. "Might I suggest an excursion? They might outnumber us but the quality of our forces are far above their own."

"Kaaarrrkkk… I like the Idea!" The largest in the group, the Tier 2 Berserker, Slargh nodded profusely.

"A fight so soon?" Callum, now wearing chainmail armor while carrying a kite shield and an iron sword, looked like a proper knight. "While I agree that our forces far outclass them in terms of quality, I fear that an attack from the K'sharnids could come during this raid. What do we have to gain from this attack? They are barely a tribe, only their elites can provide even the smallest of magic crystals."

"So you're saying that they are not worth the time investment." Isaac spoke, everyone was at full attention. "Based on reports, they number somewhere in the 80s. Their elites are comparable to Tier 1 units and they drop a few magic crystals. In a week's time our forces will grow to a point that's comparable to their numbers, from what we've learned they already steer clear of our usual runs for water."

"We will be attacking in a week, but for now to prepare for the outpost I'll be spawning the new barracks near the river. I want two Captains to join me in this, while I construct the makeshift base." Isaac planned to use the advantage of his system, others could only create camps while he can create small bases with a watchtower in seconds.

Two captains would remain at the main camp, while Isaac went on a short trip with half of his army including Noctis and his summoned familiar. Isaac has recovered from most of his wounds and looks like a new man, equipped with his own sword and a set of chain mail the blue eyed young man walked with confidence.

The two captains that joined him were Callum and Slargh, the layer of protection that Noctis provided was more than enough but these two captains along with their squads were present to clear the area of common threats like the alligators in the river and the wolves and bears of the forest.

Only a few fights occurred, the animals knew to steer clear of larger groups while the alligators were humbled by the Murloks who could easily out maneuver them. A smooth journey to the river ensued.

"Two Murlok Barracks, a Murlok Training Center and a Watchtower for an archer or some spine-throwers." A small camp near the river. "I've been meaning to do something similar, we need a steady source of fresh and drinkable water. The runs work but having an actual station here is perfect."

"We can clear through the trees and create a direct path from here to our base at the beach." Isaac noted. "We will be stationing Slargh and his crew here for the next week, at least until the attack."

The spawn rate of the Murloks near water is once every 3 days, a total of four units should be present at the end of the week. "I'll return tomorrow to construct two additional resource buildings so that we won't have a need for more storage. The system doesn't let me go over the limit of units in an area unless the buildings themselves have been destroyed. Each unit needs their own bed at least."

Isaac left with the assurance that Slargh's group could deal with the threats all on their own.
