Chapter 67: My Dear Sister
The great doors closed behind them with a final, echoing thud, cutting the courtyard away like the ending of a chapter no one wanted to finish. Inside, the hall was colder than it should've been—despite the sunlight trickling through the stained glass windows, despite the warmth Odi remembered from long ago.
Darius walked ahead of them without a word, his boots sharp against the marble. He led them into the council chamber—not the throne room. A quieter place. More intimate. More dangerous.
The guards took their positions at the door. Then he turned.
He didn't speak at first. His eyes scanned them with precision, but when they landed on Odi, something in him seemed to falter.
Sympathy.
It flickered across his face for the briefest moment, like a ghost too ashamed to haunt.
"Odi," he said softly, almost a question. "You won't even look at me?"
