Sera's Pov
The walk to Lucian's office was quiet.
Not tense, not hesitant—just quiet.
Lucian's strides were steady, precise, and I found myself keeping pace, nerves buzzing just beneath my skin. I wasn't sure what I expected Calista to be like in this life. But I wasn't expecting her to come in person. That was… something.
The guards standing by the doors to Lucian's office stepped aside the moment we approached. One gave a respectful nod. The other looked like he was trying to act calm about the fact that a coven leader was currently inside our walls.
Lucian opened the door, and I followed him in.
And just like that, I was thrown back in time.
Calista stood near the long oak table at the center of the room, her black and moss-green robes trailing behind her like wind-bent grass. Her hair, long and sliver, braided with strands of what looked like starlight, was down her back just like before. Her gaze, sharp and knowing, turned toward us the moment we stepped inside.
