Chapter 13 - A Meeting Rarer Than a Miracle

It had to be her.Call it the intuition of a fellow loner.

Slowing his pace, Akira let the melody wash over him.

"Now that's talent."

Maybe I should learn an instrument someday. Guitars are just so cool.

Following the sound, Akira approached a room that was clearly unused—someone was deliberately hiding away from the crowd.

And then he spotted a hint of pink hair.

"It really is her. Hitori Gotou… or better—Bocchi."

Caution, dear reader:What's about to unfold is an event that occurs only a few times in all of fiction…The legendary meeting of two introverts. For your own safety, please prepare your heart for the awkward chaos ahead.

Akira approached quietly, trying to avoid startling the source of the music—not that it felt like him to be so stealthy.

He made as little sound as possible… but to no avail.

TWANG—!The sound of a missed note. The music stopped.

"Welp. So much for that."

Inside, Bocchi had already stopped the moment she heard someone coming.Trying to hide was pointless—the person had clearly already seen her.

Their eyes met. And in that instant, much more happened than either of them could handle.

Bocchi's thoughts:He's cute, but there's something… odd about him…

Akira's thoughts:I always thought she was pretty in the anime… but in real life? She's stunning.

Then, the realization hit them—simultaneously.

Bocchi:He's just like me! Those eyes… that posture… the way he holds his arm and avoids eye contact—he's just like me!

Akira:She's totally like me. That desperate aura of wanting to vanish, crawl into a hole, or just disappear… She's exactly like me!

And because they were so alike… they found themselves in an all-too-familiar situation.

What situation?

Well…

"..."

"..."

Yes.Silence.

The scene looked like something from a bizarre art piece:A boy silently staring at a girl. A girl silently looking away.No words. Just the awkward shifting of eyes and feet.

Who would break the silence? And how?

Don't expect divine miracles—they don't usually show up in quiet classrooms with two social disasters inside.

Akira was the first to get tired of the standoff.

"I heard a guitar… and it sounded amazing. I wanted to see who was playing."

He did it. He spoke first.A hero in his own awkward way.

Bocchi's mind exploded. He liked it?! He praised my playing! He spoke first—what now?! I need to say something back! Don't be weird, Hitori!

"T-thank you for the compliment…"

Oh dear. Looks like her condition is even worse than his.

Poor girl. This is too cruel for someone so adorable.

"My name's Akira Kurosawa. And you are?"

Still trembling slightly, she replied:

"I-I'm Hitori Gotou. Nice to meet you…"

"The pleasure's mine, Gotou-san."

He smiled. Was it the happiness of meeting someone like her?Or the relief of realizing that someone might be more socially doomed than he is?

Who knows?

"Hey, Gotou-san."

She turned quickly, surprised at being addressed again so soon.

"Huh?"

"Do you… want to be friends?"

Bocchi.exe has stopped responding.
