Chapter 21 - Chapter 6: March of the Shadows

---

Scene 1: First Steps of Darkness

The city sky dimmed unnaturally, as if night had arrived ahead of schedule. Fear seeped into the hearts of its people. Streetlights flickered erratically, one by one fading into darkness. A strange energy loomed in the air—unfamiliar, shifting, crawling like the edge of a storm.

Leon walked steadily toward the city center, flanked by Seraphine and Elliot. Each of them felt it—the gravity of what was unfolding.

> "Something's wrong here..." Elliot muttered, his daggers already drawn.

Seraphine raised her eyes toward the trembling sky.

> "This has Umbra's fingerprints all over it. We need to move—now."

Leon clenched his fists.

He could feel Umbra inside his mind, whispering, pushing.

But this time... he was ready.

Scene 2: Confrontation in the Square

The trio arrived at the main plaza—and there, shadowy figures emerged from the gloom. Their clothing was pitch black, faces obscured as though swallowed by the very darkness itself.

> "We've been expecting you," one of them said coldly.

Leon instinctively read their presence—these weren't human. They were creatures infused with Umbra's power, living extensions of the void.

> "We don't have time for this. Get out of our way!" Leon demanded.

But the shadow beings simply chuckled.

> "You still don't understand, Leon. This is a war you can't win."

One stepped forward and raised his hand. The darkness around them began to twist, spiral, and merge into his body. In moments, he began to mutate—his arms elongating, body shifting into a grotesque, liquid-like form of living shadow.

> "Seraphine, Elliot! Get ready!" Leon shouted.

The battle had begun.

Scene 3: Battle

The mutant lunged at Leon with inhuman speed. Its movements were erratic—wild, yet unnervingly precise.

Leon focused and thrust his hand forward. A ring of radiant light burst forth, colliding with the creature's shadowy strike.

Above, Seraphine launched into the air, lightning-fast, her enchanted daggers aimed with deadly precision toward the beast's neck.

Meanwhile, Elliot slipped through the darkness behind them, engaging two more shadow creatures, blades spinning like silver wind.

The battle dragged on, minute after exhausting minute. Though the trio fought valiantly, for every shadow they vanquished, another emerged from the black.

> "They just keep coming! It's endless!" Elliot yelled.

Leon gritted his teeth, feeling the weight of the moment.

"This isn't just a fight. Umbra's testing me... This is only the beginning."

And then—he felt something stir within.

Something new.

> "Fall back—now!" Leon shouted.

Seraphine and Elliot regrouped beside him, confused but trusting.

Leon raised both hands.

Suddenly, every light source nearby flared with intensity. A searing radiance enveloped the area—white, pure, blinding.

The shadow mutants convulsed under the weight of it, their forms unraveling into incoherent noise before vanishing into nothing.

Silence returned.

Seraphine turned to him, wide-eyed.

> "What... what was that?"

Leon slowly lowered his arms, his fists tightening.

> "A new power. And I need to master it."

Scene 4: Umbra Appears

They stood in the stillness, catching their breath, trying to make sense of what had just occurred.

But the peace didn't last.

The air grew heavy again—pressing, choking.

From the distance... a figure emerged.

Umbra.

> "Still moving, I see. I like that," he said, voice like velvet over broken glass.

Leon stood tall but did not raise his hands.

> "What do you want, Umbra?"

Umbra took a single step forward and smiled.

> "Want? I'm merely playing a game. And now, you're officially a piece on the board."

Leon's eyes narrowed.

> "This isn't a game. You're dragging the world into darkness."

Umbra shrugged.

> "Darkness? No... I'm simply offering change. Humanity has already doomed itself. I'm just... guiding them."

Leon stepped back, unsure.

> "No. You're doing this for yourself. You want control."

Umbra chuckled, tilting his head to the stars.

> "Maybe. But you'll see, Leon... there's still time to join me."

With that, he slowly backed away—fading into the darkness from whence he came.

Leon stood frozen, heart pounding.

"I'm still too weak... and Umbra knows it."

---

End of Chapter

Umbra continues to test Leon, pushing him closer to the edge.

Leon has unlocked something powerful—but barely understands it.

He doesn't know what awaits him next...

But one thing is clear—this war has only just begun.
