Chapter 58 - Gibbs

Jack and Will were looking at a chubby man with large sideburns, lying among chickens in a chicken coop, snoring loudly.

Will, holding a bucket of water, looked at Jack in confusion.

"This is the reliable crewman you're looking for? A man lying among chickens?" he asked, his brow slightly furrowed as the man's stench hit him—worse than a skunk.

Jack took his eyes off the man, stared back at Will, placed his index finger on his chin, and looked up, wrinkling his nose.

"Yes." He then nodded simply, shrugged, and ordered, "Now, wake him."

"I don't even know why I try..." Will sighed helplessly.

Grabbing the bottom of the bucket and bending slightly while pulling it back, he launched the bucket forward, throwing all the water directly onto the body of Joshamee Gibbs, the man lying on the ground.

SPLASH!!

BAWK! BAWK! SQUAWK! FLAP FLAP!

Chickens scattered, flapping their wings and fleeing in all directions.

"Ahhh!" The man himself woke with a start, eyes wide, screaming as the icy water soaked him. Without even looking, he began cursing, pulling a knife and pointing it at them. "Curse you for breathing, you slack-jawed idiot!" he shouted angrily—but the moment he saw who it was, his eyes widened.

"Mr. Gibbs, naptime's over." Jack smiled, in a good mood as he teased Gibbs.

"Mother's love, Jack! You know better than to wake a man when he's sleeping. It's bad luck!" Gibbs had a big smile on his face once he recognized Jack, but then, with his superstitions, he couldn't help getting serious to warn Jack.

"Ah, fortunately, I know how to counter it. The man who did the waking buys the man who was sleeping a drink. The man who was sleeping drinks it, while listening to a proposition from the man who did the waking." Jack, knowing him for many years, handled it smoothly, and as he spoke and bowed, Gibbs' eyes looked a little lost, trying to follow the reasoning—but when he heard drinks, his focus snapped back, and a smile returned to his face.

"Aye, that'll about do it." Gibbs nodded and grabbed Jack's outstretched hand, who helped him up.

But he barely stood before another bucket of water was thrown on him.

"Blast it, I'm already awake!" Gibbs yelled, shivering from the cold water.

"That was for the smell," Will said simply.

And after a moment of consideration, both Jack and Gibbs couldn't help but agree.

Gibbs blinked, his mind clearing, and then he noticed something behind Will and Jack.

He squinted at that small white floating thing but couldn't figure out what it was. As his eyes focused, he began to see the outline of something.

"Snort!" The shape moved, snorting, startling Gibbs so badly he stumbled and fell back.

"Jack, watch out, there's a creature in the shadows!" he cried in terror, pointing behind them.

Will and Jack looked at each other, then turned to look at Tornado, camouflaged by the darkness due to his pitch-black coat. Only the whites of his eyes were faintly visible.

Walking through the bar full of pirates and brawls, Jack strolled calmly, dodging flying bodies, stepping over the ones already on the floor, and winking at a few pretty prostitutes along the way.

Gibbs wasn't much different and also moved through the chaotic place with familiarity.

Will, however, walked cautiously, eyes full of strangeness. He had never been in a place so chaotic—and that included the battle on Isla de Muerta where the cursed gold was.

As for Tornado, he was as confident and fearless as Jack, walking around without a care.

The four of them entered the tavern and headed to a table in the corner, each taking a seat—including Tornado.

Gibbs looked up—way up—to stare at Tornado's face, as the horse sat calmly on the chair, with his front hooves resting on the table.

He rubbed his eyes hard, but when he opened them again, the horse was still sitting there calmly.

"Mr. Gibbs, ignore him, he's just a normal horse," Jack smiled, amused, speaking to the stunned pirate, who began to wonder when normal horses started behaving like that.

"Errh, I think I need that drink now," Gibbs said to Jack, one eye twitching.

"Oh, of course. Will, get us 3 bottles of rum," Jack asked.

"I'm not drinking. It dulls the mind." Will waved him off and stood up to fetch the drinks for them.

"It's not for you, it's for him." Jack pointed his thumb toward Tornado.

"Snort!" The horse tapped the table with his hoof confidently and nodded his head. "Whinny!" He then raised both front hooves to Will, as if trying to say something.

Will looked at him with confusion and uncertainty, then turned his questioning gaze to Jack.

"He asked for two bottles. He's only got two front hooves and no fingers—otherwise I bet that horse would ask for more at once," Jack joked, smiling.

"Whinny!" Tornado looked at Jack, offended, but his eyes glanced enviously at Jack's fingers.

"The horse is right. I'll have two as well." Gibbs couldn't help but look at Tornado with brotherhood and spoke firmly to Will.

"Then it's 6!" Jack said to Will, smiling.

As for poor Will, he left quickly—afraid they'd ask for more and get him into even bigger trouble.

On the Pearl, Puss and Elizabeth stood side by side, looking out at the city.

A silence hung between them as they watched together.

"Will seems to like you," Puss said suddenly, startling Elizabeth.

"I... well, yes. He doesn't really try to hide it," she replied, a bit helpless about the matter.

"And you, do you like him?" Puss asked, looking back into her eyes, curious.

Elizabeth remained silent for a while.

"I've known him since childhood. And I've always been fascinated by the fearless and free pirates. I knew about Will's pirate heritage, and I ended up developing feelings for him… but I can't say it's love or anything like that. Besides, my father wanted me to marry Commodore Norrington. He's a good man, but I don't have romantic feelings for him," she said, struggling a bit with her words.

"So, is Will your choice?" he asked, already understanding the answer.

But Elizabeth didn't respond, and looked at him.

"And what about you? Has any woman entered your life?" she asked, returning the question with a small smile.

"Oh, Yo? No, no, I haven't yet had the pleasure of falling in love. I only plan to live my adventures while enjoying life and satisfying my desires in bed with some beautiful and special girls." Puss smiled fearlessly and winked charmingly at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth blushed and smiled teasingly.

"Mr. Puss in Boots, are you really suggesting what I think you're suggesting?" she teased, looking at Puss, still leaning on the railing, while Puss approached her and stood slightly above, as he was standing on the railing.

"Mi bella dama, I am not a man of suggestions, but of actions." He gently placed a paw on her cheek and slid it until his fingers rested by her ear.

Then, under Elizabeth's slightly glazed eyes, he pulled her face closer and claimed her soft lips with skill.

They kissed, as Puss deepened the kiss and left Elizabeth increasingly breathless. Her two modestly sized peaks began to rise and fall at a quickening pace.

The intense kiss continued until Puss felt it was time to let her breathe, and slowly pulled his lips from hers.

With an extremely red face and fast breathing, Elizabeth couldn't help but feel shy.

"... that... was good," she said, lightly biting her lip, still tasting the intense kiss.

"It can get even better." Puss smiled charmingly, lifting her chin with his paw, looking into her eyes with confidence.

Elizabeth began to feel very warm.

"But... don't they say cats have that small thing?" Elizabeth, though a young lady, was not at all innocent, and knew about such matters.

"Indeed, that would normally be true. But I am not an ordinary cat." Puss revealed with confidence and sincerity in his voice and in the eyes that stared deeply into Elizabeth's.

The young woman's legs couldn't help but rub together, and an 'innocent' curiosity bloomed in her heart.

"I think I should see for myself, to know if it's true," she flirted back, with an enchanting look.

"I couldn't be happier to help..."

Puss replied, and once again brought his face in for an intense kiss.

Neither he nor Elizabeth had real feelings of love for each other—only sexual desire and good impressions.

They both knew that if they went through with it, it would be just a one-night affair, never something real. But neither of them cared. Not even Elizabeth, who as a noble lady was supposed to remain pure, had any hesitation about going further.

She never cared about what she should or should not do. She simply did what she wanted and what she felt like doing.

The kiss went on, and Puss's skillful hands were about to explore, thoughts of taking her straight to the captain's cabin arose—but then, bitterly, he had to pull away from her lips.

"What happened?" Elizabeth asked in confusion, the kiss suddenly broken and Puss's hands retreating.

"Looks like we'll have to continue this in Port Royal. Seems like some foolish idiots have made the Pearl their target." Puss shook his head helplessly and looked toward the dock, where some shadows were approaching.

"How is that possible? With the Pearl's reputation, pirates would have to be really stupid to attack... oh, they are really stupid, right?" she started to say, but then realized her own words and asked weakly.

"Probably." Puss opened his hands and shrugged.

"Pirates..." She shook her head at the unchanging nature of pirates.

"Well, it is what it is. Elizabeth, go hide, and take a sword. I won't let them board the ship, but better safe than sorry. We'll finish what we started later, don't forget." He then gave her the order and, finally, smiled at her.

"Alright. And I won't forget, if you don't." She smiled, teased him, and turned before running off to find a sword.

Puss watched her backside a moment longer as she ran, before turning to face the pirates approaching.

His eyes went cold, and he reached for the brim of his hat, pulling it down slightly, casting a sinister shadow over his face.

"You've ruined my good mood... and now you'll have to pay for it."
