David sat down slowly, then stared at his laptop screen intently. He raised both hands.
"Fuck… What the hell am I doing?"
His hands dropped back down. He lowered his head, pinching the bridge of his nose with his right hand. His eyes slowly closed.
"No… Fuck no!" he cursed.
"Why am I acting like such a loser?" he grumbled in frustration. "I'm a respected Hunter,"
His jaw clenched as he recalled Emily's concern for the grown ass Nathan.
"Fuck…" he exhaled softly.
He already knew what he was about to see.
That was the worst part.
The file name wasn't a mistake.
It wasn't some encrypted mystery.
It was real.
A fantasy for the weak.
A crutch for those who couldn't stand being alone.
He'd mocked it before.
Now his fingers had summoned it.
And he hated himself for it.
He wasn't doing research.
He wasn't tracking anomalies.
He just wanted to feel something he'd never had— and always pretended he didn't need.
