Chapter 94 - CHAPTER 94

Chapter 094

"Then Captain, are you going to Dragon Palace City in a few days to find that White Star Princess?"

The subordinate eyed Van der Decken IX with anticipation.

"That's right I am absolutely determined to claim Princess Shirahoshi," Van der Decken IX replied with a wild glint in his eyes. "It is the unfulfilled dream of my ancestors to possess the mermaid princess who can command the Sea Kings."

He sought not only Shirahoshi's power as Poseidon, one of the Three Ancient Weapons, but also the legacy his ancestors pursued for generations. And to gain that power, he believed the only method was marriage binding Shirahoshi to him.

"The captain will definitely succeed," the subordinate said eagerly, brown-nosing without shame.

"Hohohoho!" Van der Decken burst into his strange, croaking laugh, the kind that always left others uneasy.

"Ugh… that laugh is awful. And your obsession? Seriously out of control," Rin's voice cut through the bar like a blade.

No one noticed when he'd entered. One moment he was above the skylight the next, he was standing calmly before the infamous pirate.

"Who are you?!"

Van der Decken IX froze, stunned. Just like when Hody Jones had been interrupted during his assassination attempt on Queen Otohime, he was caught off-guard. For someone to enter so silently and stand before him without notice—this man was dangerous.

"Me? I've come to take your life," Rin said coldly, his eyes locked on the stunned pirate. He looked down on Van der Decken IX with disgust.

"Captain! That's him! He's the guy who was asking about you earlier on the street!"

The subordinate finally recognized Rin. The chill running down his spine confirmed it—this was the man who had been carrying Van der Decken's wanted poster just hours earlier.

"That's right. You've got a good memory," Rin said mockingly. "But it wasn't good enough to realize I followed you here without being noticed."

He wasn't exaggerating. Rin had utilized Kami-e, the Navy's Six Powers "Paper Drawing" technique, to make his movements weightless, undetectable. The subordinate never stood a chance of spotting him.

"Useless fool!"

With a roar, Van der Decken IX struck the subordinate with a harsh blow, sending him tumbling to the floor.

"C-Captain, I'm sorry! I understand, please forgive me!"

The fish-man trembled, knowing full well the fate of those who angered Van der Decken. Death was often the only escape.

"So, your name is Decken."

Rin stared down the pirate with visible disdain. He already knew who Van der Decken was—he knew everything about the obsessed lunatic before him.

"Who are you? Why have you been trailing me?"

Van der Decken narrowed his eyes. He couldn't recall ever crossing paths with this young man, much less provoking him.

"Listen closely I'm Rin, Captain of the Pandora Pirates."

Rin's voice rang with authority.

"You—Pandora Rin?! That brat who calls himself the youngest king in history the new Warlord of the Sea?!"

Van der Decken's eyes widened in disbelief. He'd heard rumors: a powerful new Shichibukai had arrived on Fish-Man Island under the World Government's approval. But he never expected this was him.

"That's right. So now that you know my name, you can rest easy."

Rin's expression darkened, his eyes sharp as a predator's. A murderous aura filled the room.

"W-Wait a minute! You can't just kill me without a reason!"

Van der Decken backed away slightly. He hadn't even done anything yet—so why was this warlord targeting him?

"I don't need a reason to kill," Rin snapped.

In an instant, he vanished from sight—using "Soru," another of the Navy's Six Powers. Before Van der Decken could react, Rin appeared behind him and delivered a brutal kick. The pirate slammed into the wall, shattering part of it from the impact. Patrons screamed and fled the bar in terror.

"You're insane!"

Van der Decken IX coughed, pulling himself from the debris. He couldn't understand it. Why was he being attacked so mercilessly?

"You die today—for Shirahoshi's safety," Rin stated flatly. He no longer needed to pretend. He had come to eliminate this threat before Van der Decken could act on his obsession.

"What?! You've got someone on the inside?!"

The pirate's eyes widened in horror. His plot had barely begun—yet Rin knew everything. There was only one explanation in his mind: Rin had infiltrated his crew.

"Don't flatter yourself. I don't need spies to deal with someone like you," Rin said coldly. "Now, can you die peacefully?"

He raised his hand, preparing to activate his Devil Fruit ability and end this in one strike.

"W-Wait! Let's make a deal!"

Van der Decken IX blurted out, desperation overriding all pride.

"Tch. Is this a fish-man thing? Begging for deals before dying?"

Rin was reminded of the pitiful last words of Hody Jones—another deluded fish-man who believed himself invincible until faced with real power.

"Help me marry Princess Shirahoshi! I'll pay you whatever you want!"

Van der Decken completely ignored Rin's contempt. He clung to the only chance he had left.

"Help you marry Shirahoshi? You really are deranged," Rin spat. "I came to kill you for her, and you think I'd betray her?"

"Whatever Dragon Palace is paying, I'll double it!"

Van der Decken mistook Rin for a hired killer sent by the royal family. He couldn't fathom that someone would come after him simply out of conviction.

"I don't need money," Rin growled. "I have more Berries than I can spend. My ship holds hundreds of millions, and my monthly tributes keep the coffers overflowing. What can you offer me?"

He wasn't bluffing. As a Warlord and leader of the Pandora Pirates, Rin's resources dwarfed most crews. Money held no sway over him.
