I had to run. The only place I was safe to stay was on the rooftop. I retreated slowly while keeping them at bay with my sword.
The only reason why I hadn't been overwhelmed yet was that I was on the stairs. My status also helped a lot.
The zombies were slower than me, and they couldn't move very well. It wasn't too hard for me to push them back if they came in groups of three or four.
But more than that and I would have been dead already.
This was a no hit run.
I swung the sword in a wide arc, slashing at the heads of two zombies and pushing them away with my body.
Using this chance, I retreated to the edge of the barn and jumped. My hand reached the roof and pulled my body up, escaping the zombies. But that wasn't enough, I quickly climbed the rest of the way up.
When I got to the rooftop, I saw that there were even more zombies coming.
They kept coming and coming, filling up the ground floor and making it hard for me to go down. However they couldn't reach me at the rooftop.
'How many are there?' I wondered.
There was a sea of rotten meat and broken teeth in the barn.
"Grr..." The zombies looked at me from below.
I was exhausted and the only thing that kept me going was my stats and a large dose of adrenaline in my bloodstream. If I was a normal human being I would've already died.
Right now I can't do anything but wait. If I jumped down then they would kill me in an instant.
The zombies were also climbing the wall but couldn't reach the roof because it was too tall.
I took out my walkie talkie to contact Saeko and the rest of the group. But there was nothing, no signal. Just static noise and some voices from a radio show in a far away town.
"Well, this is bad."
I sat down on the roof and took a deep breath. It would be morning in 5 or 6 hours. But I wasn't sure that I would be still alive until then. The zombies didn't show any signs of leaving, instead they kept coming.
What should I do?
"Shit."
Maybe I need to wait for a while. My mission was only to stay for the night and I only would get my reward then.
"A few hours getting surrounded by zombies..."
Should I be glad that I wasn't alone anymore? The moon also looked quite beautiful tonight. No cloud hindered its light and it shined down upon the fields.
But I wasn't in the mood to enjoy such a romantic view, though.
Rather than that, it was quite bad since the moonlight gave me the clear view of the sea of zombies in front of the barn. It was disgusting.
"Arghh... I am going crazy. Shit. Shit." I mumbled.
My body was aching and my hands were numb from gripping my sword tightly. I was lucky I had a high stamina or else I wouldn't be able to survive for this long.
I flopped on my butt and looked at the sky, sighing heavily. This was getting annoying.
Boring and annoying.
There were no zombies that could reach me yet.
And the sun was starting to rise, slowly lighting the surrounding.
Another day had arrived.
"Morning already. How long have I been here?"
I didn't know exactly when the night ended or how much time passed. But it was probably around 5 or 6 in the morning.
I got nothing to do and just sat there, watching the zombies marching toward the barn, walking around and groaning in frustration. They seemed hungry, and angry, and I couldn't blame them.
If I were one of them I'd be angry too.
Anyway, the zombies had decreased.
Noises from the bird chirping and a few more groaning from the zombies resounded. They left one by one a few hours ago.
And...
[Ding! You have received 500 Shop Points + 1 All Stats!]
My mission had finally been finished and the rewards arrived.
"Finally."
I could leave now.
As for the zombies... Only ten or twenty of them were left. They didn't even notice me sitting up here anymore. Some of them even walked around, ignoring my presence completely. They were so stupid it was almost funny.
"Let's get out of here."
Without much hesitation, I climbed down from the rooftop. The zombies turned around and noticed my presence, but it didn't matter anymore.
They were slow.
I killed the ones closing in with my sword and ran toward my Harley. The bike was knocked out by the swarm last night but there was no visible damage to it.
The zombie's numbers were still a threat, though.
Some of the remaining zombies noticed my escape and rushed at me, trying to catch up. They weren't that slow and I didn't have any bullets left to kill them with my rifle or revolver. I was running out of options.
"Grr..."
I shot them with revolvers and kept them at bay while starting my motorbike's engine.
When the zombies got too close for comfort I accelerated, leaving them behind in a cloud of dust. It felt good, driving on my own. My heart was still pounding after last night and my muscles were still tense.
'Gotta shake that off.'
Anyway, I finally escaped.
The only problem was my fuel tank. It was almost empty after I drove for a few minutes.
Raccoon City was still quite far and I needed to reach there as soon as possible.
However, as I advanced toward the city, I saw dark smoke rising from its direction. I stopped my bike in the middle of the road and looked at the horizon.
"What is happening there?"
There was a lot of commotion in the distance, as if something bad happened.
Raccoon City outbreak might happen now.
