Senju Tobirama snorted coldly. "If you hadn't spoiled Tsunade, she wouldn't be like this."
"But that's beside the point. Kid, we might meet again. If you think you can get rid of us with this, you're wrong."
"The Uchiha's eyes, no matter how many times I see them, are always ominous."
Kai ignored him, smiling playfully. "Next time, you'll still be looking up at me, powerless to do anything."
"Goodbye!"
Hmph!
Senju Tobirama snorted, unable to refute.
"Kid, we're leaving!" Unlike Senju Tobirama, Senju Hashirama laughed again, his body dissipating into dust.
Yamanaka Fū, witnessing this, turned and fled.
"Kai, he's escaping!" Mitarashi Anko tried to chase after him.
Mitarashi Anko didn't care about right or wrong. Her only concern was stopping Yamanaka Fū.
Otherwise, the consequences would be disastrous.
"Don't go after him. Orochimaru isn't that simple," Kai said, his eyebrows raised, abandoning Orochimaru.
Lightning crackled around him, and he vanished like a ghost.
"Kid, you'll die with me."
Orochimaru, with only half a head remaining, suddenly opened his eyes.
Crimson snakes instantly erupted from the ground within a kilometer radius.
Their slender bodies inflated like balloons, accompanied by a surge of fire and shockwaves.
Even Orochimaru's body was blown to pieces.
Boom!
A violent explosion ripped outwards, igniting surrounding trees.
The entire area was engulfed in flames. Large trees were snapped in half.
Kai, controlling his Susanoo, emerged from the inferno.
After glancing at the scroll and small vial in his hand, he dispelled the Susanoo.
"Thank you for saving me again," Mitarashi Anko said, her cheeks flushed. "You're really amazing."
"But... is my teacher dead?"
For Mitarashi Anko, Orochimaru's fate was paramount.
"A centipede doesn't die easily. Orochimaru has developed the Immortal Reincarnation Jutsu. Killing him a hundred times might not be enough," Kai said calmly.
After the genjutsu was dispelled, Orochimaru regained consciousness.
His injuries prevented further fighting, so he abandoned his body, detonating the Hidden Shadow Snake Hands already in place.
He had underestimated Kai from the start. One mistake led to another.
His explosion was child's play, a mere tickle to the Susanoo.
"He's not dead?" Mitarashi Anko's face changed. She turned to chase, but Kai stopped her.
"Don't chase. Even for me, catching a determined Orochimaru is difficult, let alone you," Kai patted her shoulder.
"It's getting late. Go back. I have other things to do."
"Aren't you going?" Mitarashi Anko was startled. After witnessing his power, she'd come to rely on him. Returning alone felt strange.
"Are you worried about Root reporting you? Kai, I can testify for you."
The fight was short, but Mitarashi Anko wasn't a fool. She saw someone in Konoha was collaborating with Orochimaru.
They'd secretly left Konoha. If someone reported them first, the consequences would be dire.
"Don't worry about those insignificant people," Kai ruffled her head. "I have business to attend to. I'll summon a toad to escort you back."
"Summoning Jutsu!"
Kai formed hand seals, slamming his hand on the ground.
White smoke billowed, and an Iron Arm Toad appeared.
"A summoning beast. I heard you need their trust to summon them," Mitarashi Anko said, surprised.
But then, she was stunned.
"It's you?" The Iron Arm Toad was shocked. "No, don't kill me!"
Seeing the summoning beast so terrified, backing away quickly, Mitarashi Anko couldn't help but say, "You... you didn't really want to kill it last time, did you?"
"It?" Kai rolled his eyes. "Of course not. I almost wiped out its entire family."
"Alright, I'm entrusting her to you. Go back quickly if you have nothing else."
With that, lightning crackled around Kai, and he vanished.
Watching him disappear, Mitarashi Anko looked at the Iron Arm Toad.
"He seems scary, but he's actually quite nice. He just told a bad joke, trying to cheer me up, and scared you."
Joke?
The Iron Arm Toad shook its head frantically. "He's a devil! He almost destroyed my home!"
"That meteorite... it was so big."
The Iron Arm Toad gestured with its hands, as if illustrating a five-kilometer-long object.
Meanwhile, after parting ways with Mitarashi Anko, Kai headed towards a canyon.
This was the path to Sunagakure, a vital route to Kikyō Pass.
Normally, Konoha would station many ninjas here.
But the war between Sunagakure and Konoha was reaching a fever pitch, nearing its end. The number of Konoha ninjas stationed here had decreased significantly.
However, Kai found no sentries along the way, which was odd.
"Sir, I'm here," a familiar voice called out.
Kakuzu emerged from behind a rock.
"Did you take care of the nearby sentries?" Kai stopped, facing Kakuzu.
They hadn't seen each other for a while, but Kakuzu's aura had noticeably recovered. It seemed he'd found replacements for the four hearts Kai had destroyed.
"Sir, you asked me to investigate Sasori's whereabouts. I found him," Kakuzu said. "He passed through here half a day ago, killing Konoha sentries."
"He's probably avoiding Sunagakure's pursuit and venturing into the Land of Fire."
"Having him come to us is better than searching," Kai nodded. "But the Third Kazekage is probably dead. Sasori might have made him into a puppet."
"The Third Kazekage is dead?" Kakuzu's expression changed. "Sir, should we still pursue him?"
Kakuzu had pursued Sasori to obtain the Iron Sand Burial. Now that the Third Kazekage was dead, his heart was useless. Continuing the pursuit was pointless. Especially since Sasori was a dangerous individual.
"Don't worry, the target has changed, but he's still useful. I'll join you this time," Kai said calmly, glancing at the nearby forest.
"We have guests."
