"Sent me?" Gabriel raised a confused brow. "How did you come to that conclusion?"
"Your walk, the way you speak—everything about you screams confidence. Boy, you're not just any newbie. Moreover, I can tell you're very knowledgeable about the guilds and the history of this world, so technically, you have no business here."
He didn't act surprised despite seeing how easily Edgar had analyzed him. He had expected this from the start. After all, as a spy, Edgar was someone extremely observant and sharp.
'He probably thinks I was sent by someone to expose him,' he thought.
"Well, you're right. I'm not exactly a newbie," Gabriel said. "But no one sent me."
"Then how may I help you?"
Calmly, he held the middleman's gaze and began to speak.
"I had a fallout with the Holy Church," he said.
"A fallout with those pretentious bastards?" Edgar scoffed, his tone carrying a hint of anger. "That's rare."
Gabriel hid a smile when he realized he had pushed the right button.
