Chapter 146 - Tang San, I Want to Take Care of You in Your Old Age

A cool afternoon breeze swept through the ancient trees of Blue Tyrant Forest. The branches swayed gently, and sunlight filtered through the canopy, dappling Tang San's face. The warmth brought him back to his senses.

Tang San closed his eyes and took a deep breath. A soft smile replaced his dazed expression as he looked at Master Yu Xiaogang—who now appeared dispirited after failing to change jobs—and asked calmly, "Teacher, what are you doing here at this hour?"

Still brooding over being assigned to clean toilets, Yu Xiaogang, a man who prided himself on dignity, didn't know how to respond to his disciple's question.

He hesitated, eyes dodging, and after a moment of silence finally remembered his original purpose. He asked softly, "I heard you shouting earlier, Xiao San. Did something happen with your cultivation?"

At the mention of cultivation, Tang San recalled his father's warnings. The smile slowly faded from his face. He stepped forward with a look of pain and asked, "Teacher, I heard that in history, many twin martial soul users failed in cultivation and died. Is that true?"

"Xiao San, just follow my guidance and focus on cultivating your Blue Silver Grass. Don't burden yourself with too much worry," Yu Xiaogang replied with a solemn tone.

"But with so many examples of failed cultivation, I feel like there's a thorn in my heart every day. I can't focus." Tang San sighed deeply and stared hopefully at Yu Xiaogang. "Teacher, your martial soul theory is so advanced. You must know a way to solve the problem of cultivating twin martial souls, right?"

Yu Xiaogang trembled slightly, a flicker of bitterness and hatred flashing in his eyes as he remembered the girl he had met in the Spirit Hall library twenty years ago.

It was Bibi Dong who had inspired and helped him begin his research into martial soul theory. She had even promised that once she became the Pope, she would use the full strength of Spirit Hall to help him improve his martial soul.

But it didn't last. Their relationship ended prematurely when Bibi Dong broke up with him and later married the former Pope, Qian Xunji.

Every time he thought about the gentle, powerful Bibi Dong being taken by Qian Xunji, Yu Xiaogang's resentment grew uncontrollably.

'Is martial soul talent really so important? Why did she have to choose him?'

His eyes grew cold. He glanced at Tang San and said slowly, "Xiao San, the future is uncertain. If you keep dwelling on fear, you'll never become a strong, independent soul master. Your job is to cultivate well—stop overthinking things."

Tang San had just suffered the emotional blow of Xiao Wu's departure. He had hoped to coax out a solution for cultivating twin martial souls, but Yu Xiaogang's evasive answer left him cold.

From what he knew of Yu Xiaogang, this so-called 'master' probably had no clue how to cultivate twin martial souls. All these years, from level 10 to 36, had likely just been guesswork.

After the Luo Sanpao vs. Mandala Snake incident, Tang San doubted Yu Xiaogang could get any useful answers from Spirit Hall either.

Despite the mild weather, cold sweat formed on Tang San's forehead. But having lived two lives, he wasn't so easily defeated. The moment Yu Xiaogang finished speaking, Tang San had already come up with another plan.

With practiced ease, like back at the junior academy, he dropped to his knees before Yu Xiaogang.

"Teacher, it's not my future I'm worried about. I'm worried about you."

"Huh? Worried about what?" Yu Xiaogang looked at his kneeling disciple with a confused expression.

Tang San looked distressed.

"Teacher, Yu Tianming is arrogant and disrespectful toward his elders. He's never stopped defaming you. And he's definitely going to be the next head of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Right now, you're protected by the old clan master, but once Yu Tianming takes over, he'll come for you."

What Tang San didn't know was that Yu Tianming had long surpassed the realm of normal soul masters. He was sparing Yu Xiaogang's life only for his own amusement—not because of any so-called protection.

Still, Tang San's words struck a chord in Yu Xiaogang.

'Right now, I'm not too afraid of Tianming. But my father won't be around forever… When that day comes, how will a Soul Grandmaster like me survive if he decides to come after me?'

Yu Xiaogang was normally the one manipulating others. Now, Tang San had completely reversed the situation. Still, Yu Xiaogang quickly grasped the core issue.

"Xiao San, you make a good point. But what does this have to do with finding a method for cultivating twin martial souls?"

Acting was a killer's basic skill. Before Yu Xiaogang even finished speaking, tears welled up in Tang San's eyes. His voice trembled.

'The tree longs for peace, but the wind will not stop. The son wants to care for his parents, but they are gone.'

"I'm not afraid of dying. But if something happens to me, who will take care of you? My life is nothing. But if I'm gone, who will stop Yu Tianming from bullying you in the future?"

His emotion burst forth, full of sorrow. Even Tang San himself would've praised the performance.

Yu Xiaogang stared at the kneeling Tang San, utterly moved.

He slowly squatted down and hugged him tightly, patting his back while sobbing, "Xiao San, I always knew you were a respectful and loyal student. Meeting you is the greatest blessing of my life."

Tang San's eyes gleamed.

'Still no mention of the cultivation method…'

"Teacher, I'm a twin martial soul user. If I cultivate Blue Silver Grass like a regular soul master, could there be issues? We don't know the taboos…"

Yu Xiaogang released Tang San and scratched his beard thoughtfully.

'Bibi Dong cultivated her first martial soul first… I don't know if there are any taboos.'

He answered cautiously, "Logically, cultivating one martial soul first shouldn't be a problem. Just don't add soul rings to the Clear Sky Hammer for now, and you should be fine."

'Logically? Should?' Tang San's brow twitched again. 'As expected of Master. Still unreliable.'

'Last time with the Mandala Snake, I nearly died. If it weren't for my hidden weapons, who knows what would've happened? I've been lucky so far… but for my own safety, I need to get the truth soon.'

"Teacher, please look into this seriously. Don't let me accidentally trigger some taboo."

"Xiao San, don't worry. I'll start researching. But this is a serious matter—I need to think about it carefully."

Yu Xiaogang didn't even dare face Liu Erlong, let alone Bibi Dong. Just imagining her from twenty years ago made him want to run. And since Tang San hadn't yet proven his talent at the soul master tournament, Yu Xiaogang lacked the courage to meet her.

He thought, 'Xiao San's still early in cultivation, far from the twin martial soul danger zone. Everything's gone smoothly so far—why rush to meet Bibi Dong?'

Tang San saw the hesitation and acted decisively. He hugged Yu Xiaogang's leg, looked up with bright, burning eyes and declared,

"Teacher, do you remember what you said when we first met at the academy? 'A teacher for a day, a father for life.' I've always treated you like my father. I know you're nearly fifty and childless. From now on, I'm your son. Even if Yu Tianming opposes you, I'll take care of you in your old age."

Yu Xiaogang had endured scorn since awakening his martial soul at age six. He lost Bibi Dong to another man. He nearly married his own cousin. Now, in his forties, aside from his two old teammates, only Tang San treated him with true affection.

Tang San's performance was over-the-top in its devotion—but natural and utterly convincing. Even the veteran liar Yu Xiaogang was moved to tears.

He ruffled Tang San's hair and choked out, "Good disciple, I will train you to become the strongest soul master!"

"Dad!!" Tang San suppressed his revulsion and shouted excitedly, "I've always seen you as a father! We may not be blood-related, but our years together have made you my family. From now on, you're my godfather—and I'm your son!"

Yu Xiaogang was stunned. He had never seen such intensity.

After a moment, he recovered—and his gaze toward Tang San grew even more doting.

Tang San saw it and relaxed. 'Yu Xiaogang, I've called you Dad. For your son's life, surely you'll head to Spirit Hall and steal the twin martial soul secrets now.'

But to his surprise, Master didn't mention it again. Instead, with joy on his face, he said excitedly, "Ah, good son. Xiao San, from now on, I'll treat you like my real child."

Meanwhile, as Yu Xiaogang and Tang San shared their father-son moment, Yu Tianming had already caught up with Yu Luomian and Liu Erlong.

"Let go of me! I'm not sick! I didn't fall for Xiao Gang just because of martial soul fusion!"

"Grandpa, wait—don't leave yet. I've thought of a way to treat Aunt Erlong's condition." Yu Tianming stopped Yu Luomian and looked at the flailing Liu Erlong with a calm smile.

Yu Luomian turned around, released his struggling daughter, then promptly tucked her under his arm like a sack.

Excited, he said, "Oh? I knew you were reliable, Tianming. What method do you have to treat the aftereffects of martial soul fusion?"

Qian Renxue frowned at their rough treatment and thought, 'Martial soul fusion aftereffects? Emotional influence, maybe? That doesn't sound too serious. And Yu Luomian doesn't seem like he particularly cherishes his daughter. Why go this far?'

Her instincts weren't wrong. Yu Luomian did love his daughter—but mostly for her talent. Like one might love a fine pet.

As for why he tried so hard to stop her from being with Yu Xiaogang? It was the same reason he once refused to let her acknowledge her lineage because of her mother's background—face. In his eyes, her being with Yu Xiaogang, the disgrace of the soul master world, was far more shameful than fathering a child with a prostitute.

Yu Tianming smiled calmly.

"Grandpa, don't be anxious. My method may not be perfect, but it should help improve Aunt Erlong's condition."

As he finished speaking, a brilliant white light flashed. In an instant, the group vanished from Blue Tyrant Academy.

Inside Yu Tianming's water world domain, they stood atop a hundred-meter cliff, gazing at the boundless ocean. The sunlight from his soul skill shimmered across the waves like countless diamonds. The sea breeze carried a salty tang as it brushed their faces.

"Martial soul fusion isn't just a union of soul power and martial souls. It's also a spiritual and emotional merging. That's why it requires not only compatible martial souls but also no rejection between the participants' souls. The more times it's used, the more emotional bonds form between the users." Yu Tianming explained calmly.

Yu Luomian ignored the surreal environment and nodded seriously. "That's true. Just like the White Tiger and Spirit Cat families of Star Luo Empire—they've intermarried for generations. The more they use martial soul fusion, the deeper their love becomes. It makes them true partners."

Qian Renxue looked confused. "Tianming, what is this place? How did we get here?"
