Sunshine would always visit him with Eclipse, unfortunately, during his recovery period Moon never once visit, not knowing that Moonlight is Eclipse.
"Hey, bought you some fruits." Sunshine said with a grin, Mixarnt just blushed because the whole time Sunshine was pampering him whenever she visits. "Err... Did you hit your head? Usually, you would be shouting at me or even annoyed of my recklessness, but since I woke up, you never once scold me." Mixarnt said awkwardly.
Sunshine chuckled softly, placing the basket of fruits on the table beside his bed. "Maybe I just realized how much you mean to me," she said, her tone softer than usual. Mixarnt's eyes widened slightly, his blush deepening. He wasn't used to this side of Sunshine—gentle, caring, and... affectionate?
"Uh... okay, now I'm really worried. Are you sure you're not sick or something?" Mixarnt teased, though his voice wavered slightly. He couldn't help but feel a strange warmth in his chest whenever she smiled at him like that.
Sunshine rolled her eyes playfully and pinch his cheek, but her smile didn't fade. "You're impossible, you know that? Here I am, trying to be nice, and you're questioning my sanity." She then let go of his cheek and ruffled his hair, much to his embarrassment.
"Hey! Cut it out!" Mixarnt protested, swatting her hand away, though there was no real annoyance in his voice. He paused for a moment, his expression turning more serious. "But... really, where's Moon? I haven't seen her since I woke up. Did something happen?"
Sunshine's smile faltered for a brief moment, but she quickly recovered. "Oh, Moon? She's... been busy. You know how she is—always off doing her own thing. But don't worry, she's fine." Her voice was light, but Mixarnt couldn't shake the feeling that she was hiding something.
"Busy..." Mixarnt muttered, leaning back against his pillows. He stared at the ceiling, his mind wandering. "It's just... weird. She's usually the first one to lecture me about being reckless. I thought for sure she'd show up to scold me for getting hurt again."
Sunshine sighed, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "Maybe she just trusts that you've learned your lesson this time," she said, though her tone was a little too casual. "Besides, you've got me here, don't you? Isn't that enough?"
Mixarnt glanced at her, his expression softening. "Yeah... I guess it is." He hesitated for a moment before adding, "Thanks, Sunshine. For... you know, being here."
Sunshine's grin returned, and she gave him a playful nudge. "Don't get all mushy on me now. Just focus on getting better, okay? And maybe try not to get yourself into trouble for once."
Mixarnt laughed, though it was cut short by a wince as his injuries protested. "Yeah, yeah. No promises," he said with a smirk.
As Sunshine stood to leave, Mixarnt couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. He still didn't know why Moon hadn't visited, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He wonders if Moonlight still hates him, remembering her cold eyes he felt pain in his chest again.
"Maybe I should just give up on Moon..." Mixarnt said, his tone heavy with resignation. "I know she isn't busy—or maybe she really is—but she would always make time for me. Most of the time, she's the one pampering me, not you... I guess I really did something bad for her to hate me."
Sunshine and Eclipse exchanged a glance, their expressions a mix of guilt and concern. Eclipse, in particular, felt a sharp pang in her chest. She wanted to tell him the truth—that she was Moon, that she hadn't meant to hurt him—but the words caught in her throat.
Mixarnt continued, his voice trembling slightly. "When she pushed me away, it really hurt... It hurt so much that I lost control of myself. I became reckless, and I ended up hurting the people around me. If it wasn't for you, Sun, I wouldn't even be alive... I hate myself for that... And I'm not fit to stand by Moon's side..."
His words hung in the air, heavy and raw. Sunshine stepped forward, her blue eyes filled with a mix of frustration and compassion. "Mixarnt, you're not the only one who's made mistakes. You're not the only one who's hurt people. But that doesn't mean you should give up on yourself—or on Moon."
Eclipse, standing silently beside Sunshine, felt her heart ache. She had been the one to push Mixarnt away, and now she was seeing the consequences of her actions. She took a deep breath, her Lunar Eyes flickering with emotion. "Mixarnt..." she began, her voice soft but steady. "You didn't do anything wrong. Moon... she cares about you. More than you realize."
Mixarnt finally turned to look at them, his eyes filled with a mix of hope and pain. "Then why did she push me away? Why did she act like she hated me?"
Eclipse hesitated, her mind racing. She wanted to tell him the truth, but she wasn't ready—not yet. Instead, she chose her words carefully. "Sometimes, people push others away because they're scared. Scared of getting hurt, scared of their own feelings... It doesn't mean they don't care. It just means they're human."
Sunshine nodded in agreement, her tone firm but kind. "Mixarnt, you're not alone in this. We're here for you—both of us. And if Moon really cares about you, she'll come around. But you need to stop blaming yourself. You're not a bad person, and you're not unworthy of standing by her side."
Mixarnt looked down at his bandaged hands, his expression conflicted. "I just... I don't want to hurt anyone anymore. I don't want to be reckless. I want to be someone Moon can be proud of."
Eclipse stepped closer, her voice gentle but filled with conviction. "You already are, Mixarnt. You've proven yourself time and time again. You're strong, kind, and selfless. But you need to forgive yourself—and give Moon the chance to come back to you."
Sunshine placed a hand on Mixarnt's shoulder, her eyes softening. "And if she doesn't, then that's her loss. Because you're worth more than you realize."
Mixarnt looked at them, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. For the first time in days, he felt a flicker of hope. "Thanks, you two... I don't know what I'd do without you."
Sunshine smiled, her usual fiery demeanor replaced by a rare moment of warmth. "You'd probably get yourself into even more trouble. But that's why we're here—to keep you in line."
Eclipse chuckled softly, her Lunar Eyes shining with affection. "And to remind you that you're not alone."
As Sunshine and Eclipse left Mixarnt's room for him to sleep and rest, Sunshine couldn't help but sigh deeply. She turned to Eclipse, her blue eyes turning flaming gold filled with a mix of frustration and concern. "Hey, Eclipse, do you see now what you did? He was literally giving up his feelings for you. Why aren't you even visiting him as Moonlight? I know you feel guilty, but seeing him like that—self-pitying, blaming himself for what happened... It's heartbreaking."
Sunshine closed her eyes, shaking her head, but when she opened them again, she was surprised to see Eclipse removing her mask and transforming back into her casual receptionist look as Moonlight. Eclipse began tying her hair, her expression unreadable but determined. Without a word, she turned and re-entered Mixarnt's room, leaving Sunshine standing in the hallway.
Sunshine sighed again, but this time, there was a hint of relief in her expression. She knew Eclipse—or rather, Moonlight—needed this moment alone with Mixarnt. As much as Sunshine cared for Mixarnt, she understood that this was something only Moonlight could fix. With a final glance at the closed door, Sunshine walked away, giving her best friend the space she needed.
