Chapter 11 - Suspicions.. Suspicions

BLAIR

Damn!

I sucked in some of Maude's orange lipgloss. It tasted as delicious as her lips. Her breath also smelled like flowers.

Maude was kissing me hungrily. It seemed she wanted me too but was too shy to say it.

I and Maude kept swapping lips. I kissed her lower lips and sucked them with aggression.

We exchanged saliva and I made sure to shive my tongue deep down her throat.

My head felt like they were a thousand sparks flying around it. It also seemed like fireflies gathered around my head, buzzing in symphony.

This feeling was heaven. It was even better than when I kissed Sonya.

My forehead felt the frame of Maude's glasses and I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I was locking lips with Maude!!

I used my hands and reached out to her boobs and gently caressed them. My hands were about to reach inside to grab them when Maude suddenly withdrew from the kiss.

Her head had a thousand expressions and she grabbed her glasses and put them on. I stared at her akwardly in the quiet bathroom stall.

"Why did you do that, Blair?" Maude asked as she looked down.

She was too shy to face me. I could see her cheeks getting red. It seemed like she had just committed a taboo. I held her face gently by her jaw and I lifted her face, my eyes piercing into her soul.

I maintained eye contact with her. I knew I liked Maude from the moment I set my eyes on her.

"Did you not like it?" I teased her, trying to lighten the mood.

"I did, but–"

"But what? Don't you like me? What's the problem?" I asked, and kept searching Maude's eyes. Her eyes looked confused and regretful.

"I don't think I want to go out with a girl. I'm my parents only child," Maude said and I was getting livid.

What?!

I was an only child too before we had my sister. Do all those things matter? This isn't the 80's.

"You don't have to tell them, we can be a couple and see where our relationship will go," I tried to convince her but she wasn't having it.

Maude shook her head. "We are teammates and I don't think it is ideal to date each other. Besides, my parents are scientists and they have a monitoring machine that beeps when I go out of character. They'd certainly know," Maude continued to say.

I reached out and gently pulled Maude closer to me. Her eyes widened for a moment, then she smiled softly.

"Blair, I don't think we shoul–"

"Shhh!" I hushed her as I leaned in for another kiss. She was not as willing as before but she kissed me anyways.

[Congratulations, Blair! You have reached Level Four.]

[Quests will get progressively harder so brave yourself.]

I smiled to myself. Level Four meant I was getting stronger. There was so much I meant to do. It felt good to see progress.

But then, another message flashed on the screen.

[Warning: Enemy approaching. Stay alert.]

Enemy? Was an alien coming into the bathroom, do I need to use the pink dagger from my inventory?

I blinked and pulled away from the kiss with Maude.

Maude made to leave and before I could react, the bathroom door opened. Sonya stepped inside, clapping her hands softly.

"Well, well, well," she said with a smirk. "What do we have here?"

I felt a shiver run down my spine. The door creaked open wider, and a cold breeze swept in. I shook slightly, trying to steady myself.

"You're making out with your friend?" Sonya asked and rolled her eyes. "Don't date friends. It never ends well."

"That's not your business, Sonya. Can't Maude assist me in cleaning my wounds?" I lied. People didn't have to know I kissed Maude.

I wasn't prepared to fully come out.

"So that's her name, Maude?" Sonya asked again, touching her fingers.

"Sonya..leave." I was getting angry.

Sonya's eyes flicked to Maude. "Excuse me, Maude. I need to have a little talk with our new wrestling champion."

Maude crossed her arms and shook her head. "No. You don't get to just walk in here. She's my friend and she's weak. I need to be here to protect her."

"Isn't this the wierd girl that tried to invade out room earlier today?" Maude asked with suspicious eyes.

"Yes, she is."

"Leave, Maudie Birdie."

"That's not my name. And no, you cannot speak to her."

Sonya raised an eyebrow, amused. "Oh? And look who's going to stop me? You"

I looked at Maude and held her by her arms. My hands mistakenly grazed her nipples and it stood upright. "It's okay. I'll handle this. You can leave, I'll join you guys."

Maude blushed and her cheeks turned a soft pink.

She stepped aside and went into tending my wounds. "I'll first treat your wounds, then I'll leave."

She walked to the counter by the window and pulled out some small bottles of chemicals from the bathroom cabinet and carefully cleaned the cuts on my face and hands.

Sonya watched us quietly, her smirk never fading. I could feel her eyes on me, cold and calculating.

For everytime Maude dapped the cotton wool on my wounds, I felt something snap inside me. I had only known her for less than 24 hours and I was so deep in love?

Maude finished cleaning my wounds and looked at me seriously. She adjusted her glasses. "Blair, I don't think I want to stay outside anymore. I'm tired of clubbing. I'm not feeling this place. I think we should go back."

I nodded slowly, I understood her. I was fed up too. "I want to have a little talk with Sonya. When I'm done, I'll make sure we go back, okay?"

Maude nodded, straightened her gown and fixed her hair quickly. "Okay. I'll wait for you outside."

She gave me a small smile and left the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

Sonya stepped closer, her voice was teasing. "Welcome back, Blair."

"Welcome to where? Did i travel?" I asked Sonya, pretending to be in denial. I knew where she was going.

"I've suspected something for a while now, Blair."

I kept my eyes on her, trying not to show how nervous I felt.

"Tell me," she said, "how did you know Blake was cheating on you with me?"

I didn't answer.

"No wonder you had the courage to fight him," she continued. "You've become so powerful, so outspoken, so daring. You weren't like this before, were you?"

I stayed quiet, my mind racing. How did she arrive at this? I knew fighting Blake was a bad decision. Gosh. What have I done?

I didn't want to trigger the wrath of a Valkyrie.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Stop beating on the bush and arrive at a conclusion."

"I know you don't yet have your wolf. So why are you so powerful?"

"I have my wolf."

"Liar!! You don't . Blake tells me everything. Blake is a lycan. How are you stronger than him. It's a quarter moon. You're supposed to also be weak."

"Lycans get weak during quarter moons. Ordinary wolves don't."

Sonya's smile grew wider. "Playing innocent, aren't you? Are you aware of something locked in a storybook?"

I frowned. "What storybook?"

She laughed harshly, her laugh was so cold. "I won't tell you what's inside. But if that's what you're looking for, you'll never find it."

"I don't read. I don't like to read?"

Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "There are thousands of books in the world, Blair. How will you know which one holds the secret?"

I swallowed hard, but said nothing.

Sonya's tone turned serious. "I will find out if you have been reborn. If my suspicions are right, you won't like what happens next."

I stayed very still, careful not to say anything that would give her power over me.

"If you have been reborn with extra powers," she said slowly, "I will deal with you specially."

[Stay calm. Do not engage.]

"I'm all done with what I wanted to say," Sonya said and stepped closer, her eyes locked on mine. Then, without warning, she kissed me on the cheek.

I felt my skin tingle where her lips touched.

She turned to the mirror, fixing her hair with reapplying setting spray from her bag. Then she smiled at me one last time and left the bathroom. "See ya, Wolfie."

The door clicked shut behind her. I didn't have time to process what she just said before my system kept chiming aggressively.

[Transmigration process is a hundred percent. You will transmigrate in three... two... one…]

I closed my eyes. Everything went dark.
