Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Escape (Fixed)

Today is a great day.

Of course, I can't stop being nervous, because if my plan doesn't work, then I'm dead. Not literally, but I'm most likely going to have a bad time.

At first, I thought of several ways to disappear without them noticing, but after much thought, I realized that with the skills and resources I have, I couldn't.

So it's best that the moment I leave, I get as far away from Sabaody as possible.

Since everyone is just getting up and there are a few hours left until the execution begins, I approached a guy from the service, with no idea what his job was, and told him to leave a bag in a specific, hidden place.

The bad thing is that I had to threaten him to make him do what I said and not even think about stealing anything in the bag. I wasn't going to trust a nobody; I wasn't going to assume that anyone who finds me is good, or else there wouldn't be any pirates. Besides being a celestial dragon, he generates quite a bit of resentment among these people.

I was plagued by doubts, and I decided to send two more guys with the same threat, the classic one: if they didn't do it, I would kill their parents, their cousins, their grandparents, their grandfather, etc., like Pablo Escobar. Besides, if someone thought differently, I had one or two chances to not make a mistake and make them do what I said, but it took three to reach an agreement.

Once all that was done, I just had to wait for us to go see the live execution in a comfortable spot in one of the Sabaody plazas.

After a while had passed, everyone had had breakfast and was dressed, and we left.

As we walked to our stop, I told him a story from a classic Disney story, in this case Sleeping Beauty. I'm always telling him stories from different tales that I remember, both for Dianna and Alex. More so for Dianna these days.

Once we arrived at the place where we were going to rest to watch the current pirate king's latest show, I decided to begin my plan to disappear from here.

Dante: "Hey, Brother Ramses, I'm going to the bathroom, and I'll be right back."

Ramses: "Okay, just don't take too long."

Dante: "Understood, I'm going to the hotel bathroom; running shouldn't take me long."

At that moment, I stopped and stared at Dianna.

Dante: "Dianna, do you want candy?"

She stared at me.

Dianna: "Always," with a smile.

I nodded and ran off with my sword.

It didn't take me long to get to the hotel. I entered fairly quickly, got to my room, and took out several bags of candy I had hidden and left them in Dianna's room.

Thank goodness I'm leaving; Maybe with me, she'll end up with diabetes or, worse, end up crazy like Big Mom, but hey, that should be enough to keep her from being too upset with me when she finds out I'm gone. I don't know what will become of her or what she'll become once I'm gone, but I've done everything I can; I can't stop my dream just because of that, and I know she'll be okay.

Once I left the hotel, I went to the place where I was hiding and my things; luckily for me, they were there, along with all the things I had inside. I knew the guys I hid from would know I escaped, but I didn't care; I'd be long gone.

I changed into some very ordinary pants and a shirt, like a traveler's; I put on a wool hat that covers all my hair, the kind that's a bit long, and I ran off to the place where the merchant ships are.

While I was there, I stole some sunglasses to cover my eyes and started walking around, looking at the ships that were ready to depart.

I felt like everything was fine until I came across one that looked like it was about to depart.

I approached and spoke to it.

Dante: "Hello, sir, this is your merchant ship; I see it's about to depart. I'd like to accompany you on your journey; I'll pay you generously."

The man stared at me for a moment and said, "How curious; it's usually mercenaries who ask me for money based on their services, not the other way around."

I didn't understand why he'd said that until I realized it was because of the sword. All this time, I'd forgotten that I could be recognized by the sword, as its shape is so unique.

My method of anonymity was immediately rendered useless; therefore, my plan was already in jeopardy. I had to leave as soon as possible.

I calmed down and answered.

Dante: "You're mistaken, sir. I'm a solo traveler; therefore, I carry this sword to defend myself; in reality, I write books."

The gentleman looked at me curiously and said,

???: "Do you know how to use that sword?"

I nodded.

???: "Then there's no problem. As long as you help us confront potential pirates, I can tell you the very low price of the trip."

Dante: "Then it's a deal. My name is Dan."

Sarmonie: "Likewise, mine is Sarmonie Obslingi."

At that moment, I realized they were watching Roger's execution through those conch shells that transmit both video and audio.

At that moment, they were walking toward the place of his death, and everyone already knows what happened.

(Author's note: I'm too lazy to write the whole scene, since most people already know what happens, and if not, just watch the first episode of One Piece.)

Then the screams were heard all around. I realized it was time to start, so I stood next to Sarmonie and said, "We'd better leave immediately so we don't run into the pirates who are going to come out looking for the pirate king's treasure."

Sarmonie looked at me and nodded.

She stood in front of her people and ordered them to leave immediately.

Everyone took their positions; I stayed in a corner on the side of the ship, watching it move away from the archipelago.

I thought it was all over, but at that moment the alarm sounded.

???: "PIRATES!!!"

In the distance, I could see a ship getting closer and closer to us.

I grabbed my sword, positioned myself in a relatively safe place, waited, and watched the conflict unfold.

The ships began firing at each other; neither ship was large, but neither was small. As they attacked, they got closer and closer to each other until it reached a point where, with effort, you could reach from one ship to the other, and then I acted.

I leaned over the edge and jumped onto the other ship. There, in the air, I saw a pirate doing the same; I looked at him and slashed at the guy. He couldn't defend himself in the air, and the attack was very sudden, so it hit him full force, and he fell into the sea, most likely dead. It's worth mentioning that this wasn't his first time killing, so I wasn't half-witted after doing that.

The moment I landed on the other ship, the robbery began. I saw some from the merchant ship also jumping onto the pirate ship and vice versa.

Slash after slash, the fight unfolded; thanks to my sword and my superior strength, it wasn't difficult for me to defeat them one by one. The problem was that I was fighting 1 against 2 or 1 against 3, which made it take much longer to finish them off.

Thanks to my support, the pirate ship lost more and more crew.

Then I saw how the guy, who appeared to be the captain, seemed to turn his arm into a cannon; I realized I had to act.

I positioned myself, raised my sword, and prayed for the attack to come through. I forgot to mention that I couldn't yet perform a ranged attack, and seeing as I wouldn't make it in time, it was the only thing I could do to stop it.

With all my concentration, I looked at the pirate and...

He threw his sword; since he couldn't do slashing energy attacks, it was the only thing he could do. he wasn't going to rely on an attack that might not work.

With the help of the goddess of luck, the attack landed squarely on him; being distracted, he couldn't dodge it, and it destroyed half of his neck, killing him instantly, nearly decapitated.

After the death of their captain, everything went smoothly; the pirate ship was destroyed, and we sailed away with very few casualties.

Everyone on the ship congratulated me for my contribution, and the ship's captain, Sarmonie, approached me.

Sarmonie: "Thank you very much, kid. Without you, we could have been in a bad way."

Dante: "It was nothing; it was part of the deal."

I settled in and looked at the ship's condition: a little shabby, but it can continue the journey without problems.

Sarmonie: "If this is going to be a regular occurrence, then we'll have to make a detour at Water 7 to fix things up and get some upgrades for the ship."

That's when I realized he didn't know where we were going, so I asked him.

Dante: "Captain, where is the vessel headed?"

He stared, pulled a pike out of nowhere, inhaled, and said to me.

Sarmonie: "Alabasta."
