Chapter 98 - CHAPTER 107

The next morning, Carl scanned the front page of the Daily Prophet, which detailed how he, Newt, and Tina had subdued Grindelwald the day before. The article was filled with praise and photographs capturing the final moments of the battle, including the dramatic scene in the hall of the Magical Congress of the United States of America.

Because of that very public battle, Carl had become something of a celebrity overnight. Wherever he went with Credence, people stared in awe. Wizards whispered behind cupped hands, and some even approached to offer congratulations or request autographs.

Unlike the original timeline—where Newt and the Aurors subdued Grindelwald under a containment spell—this time, the fight had taken place openly, in front of hundreds of wizards. The scene had unfolded in full view, with terrified civilians hiding behind counters or magical partitions, while Carl, Tina, and Newt had engaged Grindelwald head-on. That visibility made their victory even more sensational.

Of course, fame came with its annoyances. Carl now found it necessary to disguise himself when going out. He would often cast subtle glamours or change his hairstyle and clothing with Transfiguration. Social wizards and overeager fans were everywhere, making it difficult for him to walk ten feet without being stopped.

That afternoon, Carl brought Credence to the Magical Congress once more. The day before, they had agreed to meet Newt and Tina at the Capitol and return together to London using an official portkey.

When Carl and Credence arrived, Newt and Tina were already there, seated on a bench and chatting amicably.

"Everything go well?" Carl asked as he approached.

"Very well," Newt replied, standing up. "With Tina's help, we located all the missing creatures. We released the Thunderbird early this morning."

Tina turned, her eyes widening when she spotted Credence. "Credence? What are you doing here?"

Credence opened his mouth to speak, but Carl stepped in smoothly.

"I found him on the street yesterday. He looked lost, clearly magical but completely untrained. His adoptive mother had recently passed away. I felt it was my duty to help. I plan to bring him back to London with me and train him. The Foley family is down to just me now, after all."

Credence nodded shyly, confirming Carl's story.

Tina walked forward, placing a gentle hand on Credence's shoulder. Her usual professional demeanor softened with warmth. "You're doing the right thing, Carl. I always worried about Credence. If only I'd known he had magical blood..."

She trailed off, the weight of past regret flashing across her face. Growing up with her sister Queenie after the loss of their parents, Tina had always felt protective of vulnerable children.

Newt, standing nearby, glanced at Carl thoughtfully. As a magizoologist, he had studied Obscurials. Something about Credence's age and unexplained magical suppression gnawed at him. Most Obscurials didn't survive beyond ten, yet Credence was clearly in his mid-teens. Still, if he hadn't already succumbed to the Obscurus, perhaps he never would.

"Tina," Carl asked, "will there be any issues with paperwork if I bring Credence to London?"

Tina considered it. "As long as you can prove he has wizard blood, it should be fine. If he were a No-Maj, it would be a different story. But you're adopting him, and you're a recognized citizen of the UK. With your current standing, no one will raise objections."

Carl nodded. "Good. I've already started his training. He mastered the Lumos spell last night."

Both Tina and Newt looked impressed.

Carl knew the truth of Credence's lineage—that he was a distant descendant of the Dumbledore family. That alone meant his magical potential was vast. And unlike others, Carl had plans for helping Credence master his powers, possibly even learning to control or suppress the Obscurus inside him using the sealing methods he'd read about from the Naruto world.

Under Tina's guidance, Carl handled the official adoption paperwork swiftly. Afterward, the trio made their way to the portkey office. There, Tina gave them a heartfelt farewell, her eyes misty as she hugged both Newt and Carl.

"Take care of him," she whispered to Carl. "And you," she added, turning to Credence, "be brave. You're not alone anymore."

Moments later, Carl and Newt activated the portkey and were whisked away in a swirl of color and magic.

They landed in the Atrium of the British Ministry of Magic, and their arrival caused a stir. The story of Grindelwald's defeat had reached Britain overnight, and the public response had been nothing short of celebratory.

The Minister of Magic personally came to greet them. "Mr. Foley. Mr. Scamander. Welcome home. Your bravery and heroism have made Britain proud."

Smiling politely, Carl exchanged brief pleasantries before parting ways with Newt. They swapped addresses and promised to keep in touch.

Later, at the Foley estate, the old stone manor shimmered in the late afternoon sun. As Carl and Credence stepped onto the property, the house-elf Barry appeared immediately, bowing low.

"Master! You've returned!"

Credence flinched upon seeing the elf, unfamiliar with such creatures.

"This is Barry," Carl said. "He's a house-elf. Very loyal. Barry, this is Credence—our new family member. Help him settle in."

"Yes, Master Carl," Barry said with a smile, turning to Credence. "Welcome, young sir. Would you like a tour?"

Carl watched them head into the estate, then took a breath and transformed his appearance using Transfiguration. He Apparated quietly to Knockturn Alley.

He had unfinished business. Specifically, he needed to find the black-market portkey dealer who had been facilitating unauthorized travel to and from New York. He didn't want to leave any loose ends, especially with how high his profile had become.

The adventure in America had ended, but Carl knew his journey was only just beginning. With Credence by his side, new worlds of magic and power were now within reach—and not all of them were in this universe.
